Hong Kong, 13 Dec (China News Service) -- The "Working together in the same boat and like-minded" Hong Kong-Sui Twin Cities Photo Exhibition opened in Hong Kong and Guangzhou on the 13th. Through more than 300 precious pictures and exhibits, the exhibition presents the deep historical, cultural, social, economic and other aspects of the two places, hoping to evoke the emotional memories of the people of the two places and promote understanding and integration.

At the opening event held in Hong Kong on the same day, Carrie Lam, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, said through a video message that the cultures of Hong Kong and Sui are of the same origin, the language is common and the folk customs are similar. With the active promotion of the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the opening of cross-border infrastructure such as the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed railway, the relationship between Hong Kong and Sui, the core cities of the Greater Bay Area, has become closer. The cooperation between the two places in finance, innovation and technology, education, cross-border infrastructure and other fields has also been uninterrupted and fruitful. It is hoped that Hong Kong and Sui can follow the theme of this photo exhibition as "working together in the same boat and sharing the same spirit" to write a bright future for the two places and even the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Guo Yonghang, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province and Acting Mayor of Guangzhou, pointed out through a video speech that the photo exhibition was jointly organized by Guangzhou and Hong Kong to show the graphic exhibition spanning more than 2,000 years of history between the two places, and it is also a grand event that highlights the historical origins and cooperation and integration of The two places, which is of great significance.

Xie Fuzhan, president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and head of the China Local History Guidance Group, said in a video speech that the exhibition will effectively promote the cultural integration of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, enable Hong Kong compatriots to draw strength from the long river of history, cultivate Chinese cultural heritage, strengthen identity, enhance national pride, and strengthen cultural self-confidence.

The Secretary for Home Affairs of the HKSAR Government, Mr Tsui Ying-wai, attended the opening ceremony. In his speech, he pointed out that the exhibition not only provided a good opportunity for the public to understand the cultural traditions of Hong Kong and Sui, as well as the close exchanges and cooperation in social and economic aspects in the past, but also to understand how Hong Kong contributed to the needs of the country in the process of national reform and opening up through the interaction between the two places after the country's reform and opening up. In addition, the public can also learn about the various innovative measures and constructions introduced by the two places in recent years to complement the development of the Greater Bay Area.

The reporter learned that the exhibition received precious historical pictures from more than 40 institutions and people in Hong Kong and Guangzhou, of which the Guangzhou Local History Office provided photos of the "War of Resistance Against Japan" and the "Provincial and Hong Kong Strike", and 5 historians were responsible for reviewing the materials.

In addition, the reporter saw at the Hong Kong exhibition site that the exhibition is divided into five parts, from 214 BC to 2021, describing the "historical land", "economy", "culture", "society" and "current situation of Hong Kong" in Hong Kong and Sui, and also exhibited the mud-printed scripts lent by the Hong Kong Bahe Guild Hall, the costumes of Wang Mingquan and Luo Jiaying, and the 6 sets of repertoire scripts of cantonese opera celebrities.

It is reported that the Hong Kong part of the exhibition will be exhibited at the Hong Kong Exchange Square from December 13 to January 8, 2022. The exhibition in Guangzhou will start from December 13 to end on March 13 next year at the Guangzhou Local History Museum. (End)
