The original drama "Xingxin" produced by Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center and Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center was officially staged at the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center Drama Salon last weekend, funded by the Shanghai Cultural Development Foundation.
"Walking Heart" is composed of two stories interspersed. On the one hand, it tells that Jiang Liuyuan, who did not get a work visa, decided to die in New York, and after experiencing self-struggle and self-questioning, he finally got rid of paranoia and found the direction of his heart to his family. On the other side, it tells that high school student Xiao Fei handled a study tour under the planning of his mother, and in a daze and confusion, he was pushed to start his study abroad life in advance.
The story of "Xingxin" is inspired by the screenwriter's own experience of studying in a foreign country in the United States, and screenwriter Tian Hongyi wants to discuss two topics with the audience through "Xingxin":
1) People's discoveries about themselves during the journey, their struggle with themselves, and the questions they ask themselves;
2) The discovery of the family during the journey, the struggle with the family, and the questions raised by the family. So, can these things produce so-called "meaningful" results? Or can so-called "reconciliation" be achieved?
Tian Hongyi believes that
"Navigating with these things, sometimes as if the dawn were in sight, and sometimes it seemed to be in a dilemma, is in itself a reminder of our own existence."
Director Xu Zidong once took the lyrics of two songs as the starting point to take the actors to better feel the "Heart of The Walk" - the song "Songhua River" sang, "What year and month, can I return to my lovely hometown" "Daddy, Daddy." When will we be able to get together?! ”
The song "Often Go Home to See" sings, "The old man does not want his children to make much contribution to the family, and he always worries about running safely all his life." ”
In times of war and peace, people's concept of "home" will be different. In times of displacement, in the midst of life and death, human needs will be expressed more clearly - just want to be with their parents; but in peacetime, literary and artistic works use the details of life to remind us to "go home and see more" . Although the times are different, the needs of human beings are the same. In The Walking Heart, we will understand that no matter what our social attributes are, there is no way to replace our role in the family.
On the stage in purple tones, a full moon hangs, "floating" countless calendars. The small theater stages the sorrows and joys between people, and there is love and romance.
According to the stage/lighting design Zhu Yushuang, the newly upgraded stage of "Xingxin" has chosen two elements, one is the calendar and the other is the moon. Because in the two families of "Xingxin", some parents are looking forward to the return of their children, some parents want to count the days to send their children abroad, and some people want to stay abroad but the visa is about to expire, so they are all counting that date, counting the days, some are looking forward to it, some are escaping, in fact, everyone will have a day that is particularly important to themselves, so the use of such an element as the calendar; and the moon often represents and transmits homesickness. Zhu Yushuang chose to use a lantern to represent the moon. It can be a lamp in the home, or it can be a full moon, which is both very imagery and more figurative. Purple is used because it is a color that is difficult to define, and it is difficult to define it with a certain emotion. Because it is difficult to define, it is very representative of the relationship between people, especially between parents and children. Parents and children should theoretically be the most intimate and selfless, but often the one who quarrels with you the most fiercely and has the heaviest rift is still your relatives.
Taking "home" and "family" as clues, "Xingxin" also explores people's relationship with their parents, their relationship with their lovers, and their relationship with themselves when they are in a foreign land or about to embark on a journey of life, and the ultimate core is to discuss the living conditions of people.
The off-site arrangement of "Heart of Walking" is also worth mentioning, and the audience can mark their hometown on the background board map and calculate the distance between "heart" and "home". In addition, "Xingxin" also opened up the audience call for papers, welcoming the audience who are or have been away from home, and write down a date that they are most impressed with.
The loneliness I feel every time I leave my family,
all deserve to be understood;
Every courage to make decisions when you are lonely,
All need to be affirmed;
Every heart that has felt this loneliness,
All deserve to be hugged.
On this winter day, walk into the theater and feel the warmth.
