The Korean costume war film "Anshi City", which cost 15 billion won (about 91.47 million yuan), is based on the Tang army's siege of Anshi City for 88 days without success, with a grand scene and excellent production. After the premiere in 2018, the cumulative number of moviegoers exceeded 5.42 million, becoming the runner-up at the box office that year. The many bugs in "Anshi City" have caused netizens to complain, making its artistic value questionable.

The former site of Anshi City is located in Tangchi Town, Dashiqiao City, Yingkou, Liaoning Province. In June of the nineteenth year of Tang Zhenguan (645 AD), Emperor Taizong of Tang personally led a main force of 200,000 people to fight the Goguryeo army here. The two sides are actually fighting in two phases.
Phase I.
The Tang army and the Goguryeo generals who came to the aid of Gao Yanshou, Gao Huizhen and others launched a field battle. Li Shimin had always made good use of strange troops in combat, and he ordered his eldest son To be inserted behind the enemy' back, and the Tang army to attack the Goguryeo army from both flanks. Under the fierce offensive of the Tang army, "Yanshou and Hui Zhenshuai and their 36,800 men please surrender."
Phase II.
The Tang army launched a siege battle against Anshi City. Five thousand defenders resisted the city and vowed not to surrender. The Tang army built tushan in the southeast of the city and sent troops to garrison it. Soon, the top of the mountain collapsed, crushing the city wall, and The Lieutenant Fu Fu'ai of Guoyi withdrew from his duties, and the defenders of Anshi City seized the opportunity to seize Tushan. The two sides fought fiercely over Tushan, and the Tang army never got his wish, "Until September, it is not a class division." ”

First, "Anshi City" revolves around this historical fact, and as the plot deepens, the slot lights up the blind eyes of the audience.
The "cadet soldier" played by Nam Joo-hyuk is very eye-catching in the movie. However, the cadet soldiers, composed of Goguryeo students, are not recorded in the Zizhi Tongjian, the Old Book of Tang, and the New Book of Tang, and even the Goryeo official history book The History of the Three Kingdoms does not have a similar compilation, and this character, which is deliberately arranged purely to render the plot, is very abrupt in the plot.
At the beginning of the film, a powerful cavalry battle is presented. The director restored the large-scale Goguryeo armor riding gear, which made the audience shine. However, the armor in the Goguryeo murals, and the riders will add decorative accessories to the horse armor, which has not been paid attention to by the director, but it is rare to see the cavalry fighting with thousands of horses galloping in the movie.

Second, not only did Goguryeo's equipment have bugs, but the Weapons of the Tang Army also had discrepancies.
The main cavalry of the Tang Army was not equipped with a vest, and the famous Xuanjia Army in the Tang Army was one of the heavily armored cavalry with great combat effectiveness in history. Suppose the director arranges for the two sides to pinch each other with heavily armored cavalry, which will add a lot to the film.
In the shield array arranged by the Tang Army, the length of the spear was obviously short, and the number was really small. According to the Book of Examination Workers, "All soldiers have no body. After three of them, The Buddha can use it also. That is to say, as early as the Spring and Autumn Warring States period, the ancients believed through practice that the optimal length of the spear should be three times the height, and the length should be at least 4.5 meters or more.
The Tang Dynasty document "Divine Mechanism Enemy Taibai Yin Jing" clearly records that the Tang army took fifty people as the basic unit, "thirty points for the first thirty collars, twenty collars for the four points for the battle robes, fifty points for the gun, and two points for the ten sides of the card." It can be seen that the Tang soldiers have a spear in their hands. In the film, the director blindly presents the impact of the Goguryeo cavalry, ignoring the defensive power of the Tang army infantry, and it is not too much to give a bad review. In addition, in the movie, Tang will hold a Qing Dynasty-style battle knife to direct the battle, and this chaotic style is surprising. As the main weapon of the Tang Army, the strange knife did not appear in the movie, which is really puzzling.

The night battle of the Tang army in the movie with the siege tower is very shocking. In reality, before the battle, the attacking side, in order to prevent the opponent from attacking the fire, put the wet cowhide on the siege tower. The director obviously did not want this to happen, Tang Jun made a cameo appearance as a courier brother, and the siege tower became a torch in front of Anshi City, which was strikingly similar to the face painting in "The Kingdom of Heaven".
The protagonist in the film is Yang Wanchun, the defender of Anshi City. This character comes from the Ming Dynasty novel "Tang Shuzhi Biography of Popular Interpretation". In the book, the guard of Anshi City is named "Liang Wanchun", which is a fictional character written by the author Xiong Damu. At the end of the sixteenth century, the novel was introduced to the Korean Peninsula, according to the Korean pronunciation rules, "Liang" was pronounced "Yong", Liang Wanchun was renamed Yang Wanchun, he became a national hero in the hearts of the Korean people, and South Korea also named it an active destroyer. A fictional character can enjoy such treatment, which is rare in the world.

Fourth, the point is, has Li Shimin been shot blind in this battle?
The cause of the incident stems from the record of the Zizhi Tongjian: "The armies rushed to attack the city of Anshi, and heard the sound of chickens in the city, saying that Li Shixun said: 'The siege of the city has been accumulated for a long time, the fireworks in the city are fading, and the chickens are very noisy now. It was night, and hundreds of people from Goryeo came down from the city. From the top of the city, summoned the soldiers to attack, beheaded dozens of levels, and Goryeo retreated. "When the war situation between the two sides was scorching, hundreds of dead soldiers in Goguryeo launched a night attack, and the Tang army had already made preparations, and after beheading dozens of people, the defenders were defeated.
In 1732, the Korean scholar Kim Chang-chi in the "Three Yuan Collection", with "the upper smell, from the city down, summon troops to attack" as the key evidence, for the first time Yang Wanchun and the arrow shooting Li Shimin at a glance, wrote in a colorful way: "Fengcheng or Yun is An city, Qianqiu bold Yang Wanchun, arrow shooting hair falls into the eyes." In 1855, the "History of the Dream Scripture Hall" said that Yang Wanchun shot Li Shimin's left eye, and in 1911, the "Huantan Ancient Record" compiled by Gui Yanshou, a member of the Taibai Sect, recorded: "The people of the world were indignant and dared to fight a decisive battle, and Yang Wanchun was a voice and a bow. The people of the world came out of the battle, floating in mid-air, and then they were in the middle, and their left eyes were blank. In fact, North Korean scholars also dispute this. The scholar Li Demao, in the "Complete Book of Jingzhuangguan", frankly admitted: "The ancestral name of the lord of Anshi City is Yang Wanchun, and the Sanyuan poem also uses it." However, Yin Yueting's transcription has been identified as being derived from the Tang Shu Rendition, which is not enough to win credibility. The "Sanyuan Collection" itself is a folk history book that is not rigorous enough, not an official historical material, and lacks sufficient credibility, and the Huantan Ancient Record has been proved to be a pseudo-history book.
This occurred in the early 20th century, when Korea was colonized by Japan. Scholars on the peninsula have distorted and falsified history and arbitrarily exaggerated the independence of North Korea in order to encourage the self-confidence of the people and try to portray North Korea as a regional power with China's equal status, which is why many false historical information is widely circulated and still plays a huge negative role today.
The subtitle at the end of the film shows that three years later, Li Shimin died of his wounds and made a will before his death, demanding that he never invade Goguryeo. In fact, in September of the first year of the Zongzhang Dynasty (668 AD), Goguryeo, founded by the Buyeo remnants, was attacked by the Tang army. The country, founded in China, has no half-cent relationship with North Korea. Peninsula scholars forcibly conflate it with the history of Goryeo, and this kind of misidentification of ancestors has only increased the jokes of netizens.

South Korean media commented that "Anshi City" was "the complete victory of action directors". The excitement of the action scenes cannot hide the film's tampering and distortion of historical facts. The director exaggerated the ability of virtual characters to try to restore the truth of history with false bridges, which proved to be completely untenable.
The film's many loopholes in the character setting, weapons of both sides, and tactical arrangements are difficult to convince. It can be said that "Anshi City" is just a soap opera of Korean filmmakers who artificially imagine history.
