Tesla pushes FSD beta version 10.6.1: new visibility network, etc

Tesla has pushed a small update to its Full Self Driving (FSD) beta software to bring it to version 10.6.1. Elon Musk had earlier said the out-of-band update was meant to fix some annoying issues. The update is now available and features some improvements to object detection, new visibility networks, and other features.

The full changelog is as follows:

Improved object detection network structure for non-VRU (e.g. cars, trucks, buses). For traversal vehicles, the recall rate is increased by 7%, the depth error is reduced by 16%, and the speed error is reduced by 21%;

The average relative error of the new visibility network was reduced by 18.5%;

The accuracy of the new general static object network has been improved by 17% in high curvature and at night conditions;

Improved parking position when turning left unprotected, while giving way to oncoming objects and using object prediction beyond the intersection;

Modeling by incorporating the ends of the merge area to leave more room for longitudinal arrangement during the merge process;

Improve comfort when offsetting objects that cut out your lane.

Overall, he notes, he feels the car's acceleration and deceleration have become smoother on this version.
