Geshu Han's father, Geshu Daoyuan, was the leader of the Turkic Geshu tribe, and his mother was the Princess of Khotan in the Western Regions, but he himself grew into a famous general of the Tang Dynasty in the war against Tubo, and was deeply used by the Tang Dynasty, becoming a Jiedu envoy and marshal with a heavy army, and was also named the king of Pingxi County, and the official was the prime minister.
GeShuhan had a slave named Zuo Che, who was only fifteen or sixteen years old, but he was very strong. Every time he played, he followed Goshuhan closely.
Goshuhan was good at using a gun, and whenever he caught up with the enemy, he first put the gun on the shoulder of the enemy and then shouted. When the enemy turned back in surprise, he took the opportunity to stab him in the throat, picked up the enemy's corpse more than five feet high, and then fell to the ground. The left car immediately dismounted and beheaded the enemy. The master and servant have always been so cooperative, very tacit understanding. When the enemy saw this, they were all terrified.
Ge Shuhan's galloping heroism and brilliant achievements made the great poets admire, and Du Fu, Gao Shi, and others all wrote poems praising this famous general, but they were not as fierce as Li Bai boasted.
Anshi Rebellion
In 755, the Anshi Rebellion broke out.
Emperor Xuanzong of Tang ordered Ge Shuhan to be made a deputy marshal of the Terracotta Army, who was recuperating from illness in Chang'an, and to take the sick out of the division to meet the enemy.
Ge Shuhan led 80,000 troops, together with reinforcements sent from various provinces, claiming to be 200,000 troops, stationed in Tongguan.
At this time, An Lushan, who had already captured Luoyang, was busy claiming the title of emperor in Luoyang and did not immediately attack Chang'an. At this time, Guo Ziyi attacked From Shanxi to Hebei, defeating Shi Siming's rebels, and the counties of Hebei killed the rebel leaders and surrendered to the Tang army. The north road of the rebels at An Lushan had been cut off, and Tongguan was guarded by 200,000 troops of Ge Shuhan, and was in a dilemma. An Lushan felt that the situation was extremely unfavorable to him, and even began to consider a plan to retreat.
But at this time, Tang Xuanzong made a fatal mistake and let Ge Shuhan go out to counterattack.
Just as the so-called "king wants his subjects to die, and his subjects have to die", Ge Shuhan had no choice but to take orders to go on the expedition.
Before the expedition, he beat his chest and wept, not only mourning for his fate, but also for the safety of the Tang Dynasty, and the whole army was filled with an atmosphere of sadness.
Late holidays are not guaranteed
Ge Shuhan led an army of 200,000 men to engage the rebels in the western plains of Lingbao Mountain.
The enemy army had long been prepared, ambushed in a dangerous place, and the Tang army was bordered by high mountains in the south and the Yellow River in the north, and was hindered on the crowded and narrow road.
The rebels were ostensibly small in number and did not form a formation. When the Tang army invaded the rebel positions, the rebels were gradually defeated. The Tang army saw the situation and desperately pursued, but was ambushed by the enemy. The Tang army was suddenly in a mess, trampling on each other, and suffered heavy casualties.
In order to reverse the defeat, Goshuhan used his own "skill" - blanket car.
Blanket cart refers to the use of blankets to cover the whole body of war horses, paint fierce animals such as dragons and tigers on the blankets, and paste gold and silver on their eyes and claws, which looks very terrifying.
Goshuhan naively thought that the blanket cart could turn the battlefield around.
Who knows, An Lushan's side has long been on the defensive, as soon as the blanket car enters the battlefield, the rebels will launch the grass cart prepared in advance, and set them all on fire, and the raging fire will set the blanket cart on fire, and suddenly the flames will soar into the sky, wailing all over the field, the blood will flow into the river, and the dead are their own people.
At the same time as the Tang army engaged itself in a scuffle, the rebels detoured behind the Tang army to sneak attack, the Tang army was defenseless, the whole army was defeated, and Ge Shuhan had to lead the surviving soldiers to escape back to Tongguan. Sadly, when Goshuhan went to war, there were 200,000 horses, and after this battle, only more than 8,000 people were left.
Within a few days, the rebels took advantage of the victory to attack the city, and although the Tang army tried its best to resist, the army was scattered and insufficient, and soon Tongguan fell, and Geshuhan was also captured and even surrendered.
Poor Brother Shuhan died at an inopportune time, the late festival was not guaranteed, and the name of the emperor was reduced to flowing water.
