Text/ Tang Lake listen

For hundreds of years, a large number of artists have engaged in folk Buddhist painting art, and the large number of artists and the exquisite skills of the group are rare in other Tibetan areas, so Regong, located on the banks of the Longwu River in Tongren County, Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, is known as the "hometown of Tibetan painters", and this art is collectively called "Regong Art". The "Thangka gene" of "Ang Zhong Cai Ren" was brought from the womb, which was the fate that heaven had already predestined, and when he was a baby boy, the soul of a blank piece of paper had already buried the fate of the thangka art.

Born of Regong, born of heart art

I used to think that ink and danqing were enough to cover the civilization of China...

I used to think that monks and Buddhas only know how to eat and pray to the Buddha, and to purify all sentient beings...

I used to think that the sunset of the long river, the lonely smoke of the desert, and the galloping of ten thousand horses were enough to take over the wildness and simplicity of the people of northern China...

I used to think that the small bridge flowing water, the scorching peach blossoms, and the warbler flying grass were enough to summarize the diligence and wisdom of the people of southern China...

Guided by the Buddha, at the foot of the imperial city root, I encountered the Buddhist gong stroke - Regong Thangka.

Its style has a completely different annotation from Huang Yongyu's "freehand writing, clouds and flowing water" and Chen Yifei's "Fan Lady, Pink Wall Dewa", and its strong Buddhist characteristics bring out a mysterious, wild and vicious temperament. Its artistic characteristics reveal the life and soul of Buddhist monks.

A force that pulls me and makes me understand the past and present lives that chase it...

Regong is located on the banks of the Longwu River in Tongren County, Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, and is a Tibetan language "Golden Valley".

For hundreds of years, a large number of artists here have engaged in folk Buddhist painting art, from the large number of artists, the subtlety of group skills, are rare in other Tibetan areas, so it is known as "the hometown of Tibetan painters", and the Tongren area is called "Regong" in Tibetan, so this art is collectively called "Regong Art".

Regong Thangka, as the most toxic arts and crafts in the world, is not only because of the toxicity in pure natural pigments, but also a kind of "poison" that goes deep into the bone marrow, and is a Zen beauty that robs your sight and mind.

It is a magnificent branch in the treasure house of China's culture, it is the most complex brush stroke in the world, it is the world's intangible cultural protection heritage, it is a work of art created by Tibetans with their lives, and thangka is the most precious treasure given to Tibetans by nature.

Regarding the origin of thangka, there is such a legend, thangka is a novel painting art created by Songzan Gampo, according to the Jokhang Temple Chronicle: Tubo Zampu Songzan Gampo after a divine revelation, with his own nosebleed to paint the "White Ram" image, by Princess Wencheng herself bound. This is the first thangka of the Tibetan people. The emergence of art categories always has a lot of accidents and drama, and heroic characters will always play the role of creators in this.

One side of the water and soil to support the other side, Ang Zhong let the master be born in this "Regong Thangka" art town.

The "Thangka gene" of "Ang Zhong Cai Ren" was brought from the womb, which was the fate that heaven had already predestined, and when he was a baby boy, the soul of a blank piece of paper had already buried the fate of the thangka art.

Every day, every minute, how many children come into this world? The region and time of their birth will be different, each person's original family status is also very different, and everyone's early fate has long been inextricably linked to their hometown and country... "Only let the teacher" At that time, he was still a baby boy, and when he came to this world, what kind of wonderful silhouette would he leave for this world?

The Buddha said, "I arranged for this little seed to grow in the hot land of Regong."

"Ang Zhong Cai Jean" will not know his cries and his future life path. Heaven has its own arrangement, the Buddha has his own plans, and a force in the underworld guides a baby boy to walk.

Man is the most magical spirit in the world; the human heart determines its external behavior and trend; the precipitation of the human heart forms the characteristics and characteristics of a region. Regong Thangka is a kind of perception and externalization of the human heart to the outside world, precipitating inheritance and innovation, and the baton is handed over to the baby boy "Ang Zhong Cai". The basic elements of flesh and blood are the basic chemicals that can be broken down, but why do some people become artists? Some people became monks? Some people became businessmen? The Belt and Road Initiative, the home of Regong art, these stories, the Buddha had his will.

Give names and destiny, and have good intentions

The arrival of the baby boy brought infinite joy to this little family. My mother believed in Buddhism like other Tibetans, a thangka in the house was a moving temple, and a family with faith was happy, although the four walls of the family were rich and abundant. The family rejoiced and prayed sincerely, thanking the Buddha for bringing this new life, hoping that the Buddha would bring stability, happiness, and prosperity to the family.

When the baby boy was one year old, he had a serious illness, and his mother carried the infant baby to the village doctor, and the doctor shook his head regretfully, "Even if the Han divine doctor Hua Tuo is alive, he is powerless to return to heaven..."

The mother's heart tightened, she was dizzy, and her heart felt torn apart. She had sincerely thanked the Buddha for giving her a healthy and lovely baby boy, but she did not expect that the Buddha would only give her and her children a year of time. The mother lived in tears, and when she was desperate, she could not sit still, so the father and mother wrapped the little baby in a cloth strip and reverently held the family's thangka to visit the famous doctor. In the winter, the wind in the Regong area is like a knife, and the wrinkles on mom and dad's face and the white hair of the sideburns seem to grow overnight, yes, if you can, every mother is willing to exchange her life for the life of her child.

At noon that day, my mother did not know which nameless intersection she had walked to, met a temple, crouched in the doorway to rest, the wind and horse flags were waving in the wind, and the harsh sunlight made the plateau red on her face more obvious, and her lips were dry and cracked like water-scarce land.

A white-haired monk, in his old age, was also a spirited monk, and his face was rosy and slow. Mom's mood was extremely unstable, she had not yet opened her mouth, and the tears had already moistened her dry lips...

The monk folded his hands and bowed deeply, picked up the dying little baby, and said, "Lord, I will give him my name, and this baby boy will be called Ang Zhong Cai Rang" after saying this, and after saying this, he took out a small golden bowl from his pocket, "Donor, please feed this little baby with this little golden bowl."

It was as if the mother had received a straw of life, returned home, prayed more sincerely, fed "Heavy Only Jean" with a small golden bowl of water, or did the Buddha hear the prayer? Slowly, the baby boy's "heavy weight made" the fleshy little hand more energetic, the crying became more loud, and the eyes that were as clear as the water of The Regong Lake blinked and looked at the mother... Yes, the little life escaped from the brink of death, and the Buddha had a greater mission for this child.

In order to thank the monk for his "Ang Zhong Cai Ren", the mother returned to the temple with the "ancestral thangka", and the master had passed away. Mother did not dare to think more, is this a divine arrangement?

The name given by the master is the master's intention and a good fate. The mother's family was not rich, and the kind temple people advised: "When the child is older, come to the temple."

Time flew by, at the age of eight, the boy "Ang Zhong Cai Rang" officially entered the temple, starting from the very beginning of grinding paint and copying, twenty years of ingenious practice, winter to spring, flowers and flowers, Ang Chung Let's life has a deep connection with thangka art. Finally, with the hills in his chest and the style of his pen, "Only then" did he bring to life the scenery he saw in the human world on top of the "thangka".

The hidden dragon is in the abyss, and the pen is cultivated with determination

The practice on the tip of the pen, with this sentence to summarize every thangka practitioner, is the most appropriate!

Ang Chongcai let the master have been cultivating the art of thangka for twenty years, but he can only complete four thangkas in a year...

The production of traditional thangkas is definitely much more difficult than you think, and as a hand-drawn painting or craft, the drawing of thangkas cannot be replaced by mechanization. Every process is essential in the drawing process.

Let's get a general idea of its arduous and complicated process: making a high-quality thangka includes important steps such as chanting before painting, making canvases, composing drafts, coloring and dyeing, drawing lines and shaping, drawing gold and opening eyes, praying after painting, and sewing and opening the light. It can be said that the whole process of creating thangkas is part of the whole work.

Young painters, the process of learning to paint is a strict process of self-improvement, in the eyes of ordinary people, it seems to have undergone unimaginable tempering: daily Buddhist practice must recite homework, familiar with a large number of Buddhist allusions and Buddhist scriptures. It is also necessary to memorize at least eight sets of iconographic scales recorded in the model that has been passed down from generation to generation. These corresponding proportions are very strict and must not be sloppy. The drawing of traditional thangkas is not only extremely complex, but also the materials used are extremely elaborate. Thangka is famous for its brilliant colours and for preserving unchanging color for thousands of years, thanks mainly to the pigments used in thangkas and the glue technique of pre-painting canvases. The process of making the pigments alone is enough to be jaw-dropping: all pigments are formulated entirely by hand, in an extremely slow and complex process. A good color tang should be painted in at least forty or fifty colors. The thangkas are painted with exquisite materials, using natural mineral pigments such as pure gold, silver and precious stones, as well as plant pigments such as saffron, rhubarb and blue indigo. The cuckoo cries blood, and the painter mixes these pigments with his own saliva, and also writes the most beautiful human qualities of his life, heart, and perseverance on the works.

There is no boiling sound, no interlacing, some are just under the green lantern ancient Buddha, dense, delicate and delicate artistic practice, and finally this swinging intestine, magnificent thangka jumped into the world!

Heart Art Silk Road, Heart World

From the distant Regong to the great capital of Beijing, to Nepal, to the United States, to the United Nations... How far is it? Will the journey go well?

Art as a power to soothe the soul, every race, every race has its own preferences, just as some people like Xu Beihong's Ten Thousand Horses Galloping, and some people like Feng Zikai's relaxed comics... Some people like the ghostly Spanish girls, and some people like the beautiful and handsome Sativa Luoshiki, each flowering into each eye.

As far as the art of painting is concerned, there are more than a dozen kinds of paintings, and when there is no camera, ancient humans use paintings to record their lives and hearts, so that we can imagine the lives of our grandparents and fathers from various paintings.

Today, the Belt and Road Strategy, the revival of Chinese culture, and the industrialization of cultural and creative products have made this art form with Buddhist overtones in the Regong area reflect in people's vision with the main theme of "poverty alleviation, industrial poverty alleviation, and culture first". Leaving aside the factors of politics and economy, from the art work itself, like "Qianlong Ye" who occasionally got the best in the western region, enter the spiritual world of "Ang Zhong Cai Ren", feel the thangka culture produced at the junction of the Chinese Silk Road, let the sound of the prayer wheel in the temple ripple in the ears, let the picture of the wind and horse flag waving in the wind jump over the eyes, let the painter hold his breath and concentrate on the figure in front of the canvas to impact the soul...

The trek of art has never ended, the cultivation of the soul will melt the iceberg, the grass and trees will be reborn, everything is reborn, it seems that I saw the "Ang Zhong Cai Jean" master and music, leading his disciples, passing the thangka to farther and farther places... It seems that I see that the children of the Regong area are no longer beggars one after another, they live a rich and happy life with their own works of art and business thinking, and the straight back is the real backbone of the flowers of the motherland... It seems that I see cities along the Belt and Road, multi-ethnic and multi-faith peaceful coexistence, green mountains and rivers, flowers, flowers, fruits and trees, Wenli Shaole, a beautiful world like the paradise world in thangka.

Thangka, moving temples; faith, power from the heart. There are many things that we can't explain, but we know that there is always a Buddha guiding us in the darkness...

The heart, born of "art", the heart "intention" has love, the nib relies on the "perseverance" force, and finally "stands" to establish the world...
