In the hut in Longzhong, Zhuge Liang, who was full of economy, drew a big cake to the poor and destitute Uncle Liu Huang. The most critical part is "across the Jing (state), benefit (state)... The general Of commanded the general Of Jingzhou to Xiang Wanluo, and the general (Liu Bei) led the people of Yizhou out of Qinchuan, then the Han Dynasty could be xing. Liu Bei led Yizhou's troops out of Qinchuan, and this can be guaranteed, but Zhuge Liang calculated everything, did not count the general who "Xiang Wanluo", planted a big heel, and destroyed the great cause of unification that Zhuge Liang planned.

Guan Yu's careless loss of Jingzhou was the key to the disillusionment of the Shu Han clique's unification plan. If Guan Yu could hold Jingzhou, even if he did not send troops to the Northern Expedition, he could still attract the main force of the Wei army in Henan, and the soldiers of Yizhou could attack Guanzhong with relative ease. If you can't take Guanzhong, it's not bad to take Longxi, you can break Wei's west arm. When Liu Bei's clique's power reached its peak, Guan Yu sent troops to the Northern Expedition, only to be attacked by Eastern Wu Lü Meng's white-clad crossing of the river, and he lost his head when he went to Maicheng, and Liu Bei's great cause of reunification was also like a kite with a broken line, blown to the east and west by the yin wind of history.
History certainly has no ifs, but it is conceivable from an academic point of view. Many people are asking: What would happen if it was not Guan Yu, who was guarding Jingzhou with eyes above the top, but Zhao Yun, who was relatively heavy on doing things?
Zhao Yun's advantage was that he dared to say no to Liu Bang. Liu Bei had just entered Chengdu, and in order to reward the soldiers, some people suggested that Liu Bei distribute the land products inside and outside chengdu to the generals. Zhao Yun stood up at that time to refute it, if the land is divided now, how will the people of Yizhou think of us? Liu Bei agreed with Zhao Yun's view, otherwise it would be more difficult for Liu Bei to win the hearts and minds of the people in Yizhou. Liu Bei wanted to cut Wu to avenge Guan Yu, and Zhao Yun stood up and said that the national thief was Wei, not Wu, and should be Wei first and then Wu. Liu Bei did not listen to Zhao Yun, and as a result, Yiling was defeated, and the name of the Emperor was destroyed.
However, Zhao Yun's disadvantage was also very obvious, and he might not be able to defend Jingzhou well. First of all, Jingzhou is Liu Bei's home important place, and there must be no mistakes. You see Liu Bei entered Shu, bringing with him the second-line Wen Wu, Wen You Pang Tong is second to Zhuge Liang, Wu has Huang Zhong, Wei Yan is second to Guan Zhang Zhao. Liu Bei's intention was very obvious, and it was better to fail to cut down Shu than let Jingzhou lose, and it was a big deal to return to Jingzhou. This point determined that the person who guarded Jingzhou must be a front-line member that Liu Bei absolutely trusted. Liu Bei entered Shu, and it was Zhuge Liang who guarded Jingzhou, and Liu Bei was absolutely at ease. But when Pang Tong, the second army division, was shot, he could not be without a military division, and Zhuge Liang had to enter Shu. Then in addition to Zhuge Liang, Liu Bei's most trusted person is of course Guan Yu.
Guan Yu and Liu Bei "slept in the same bed, Enruo brothers." The relationship between Zhao Yun and Liu Bei was far less intimate than that between Liu Bei and Guan Yu. It is not that Liu Bei does not trust Zhao Yun, but Liu Bei believes that Zhao Yun's talent is not enough to guard such an important place as Jingzhou. Judging from Zhao Yun's life, Liu Bei regarded Zhao Yun as one of the bodyguard captains, and the other was Chen Zhi, who did not appear in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. "Yun Sui's retinue (Liu Bei), the first lord's main horse."
Guan Yu is the second boss of Liu Bei's group, and in terms of intimate relationships, he even surpasses Zhuge Liang as a "professional manager". Guan Yu's name shocked Huaxia, and Guan Yu was allowed to guard Jingzhou, and his qualifications could suppress those military generals under his command. Zhao Yun's qualifications were not as good as Guan Yu's, and with Zhao Yun's words, the generals might not be convinced. Even Zhuge Liang regarded Guan Yu as the only being in the Shu Han warlord group, Ma Chao descended to Shu, Guan Yu was not convinced, Zhuge Liang persuaded: "Although Ma Chao is brave, he can only compete with Zhang Feiyi, and he is not as good as the haired man." With Zhang Fei's status as the "Three Generals", Zhao Yun, at least at that time, still could not surpass Zhang Fei. Zhang Fei couldn't surpass it, let alone guan Yu.
Another disadvantage of Zhao Yun is that his military career is mainly based on infantry and horseback, while the Jingzhou soldiers are characterized by a strong water army. Jingzhou is located in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, and there are many water systems in the Yangtze River, including han water in the north, Xiang water in the south and other water systems. The long-standing characteristic of jingzhou soldiers is that they are good at water warfare. In Liu Bei's group, there are not many people who are good at water army combat, and Guan Yu is. Zhuge Liang entered Wu to ask for help from Sun Quan, and said: "Although Liu Yuzhou (Liu Bei was once a pastor of Yuzhou) was defeated by Changsaka, there are now those who can fight plus Guan Yu's water army with tens of thousands of people, and Liu Qi has no less than 10,000 people in Jiangxia. This shows that Guan Yu has a set of rules for governing the water army. After Zhuge Liang was forced to enter Shu to replace Pang Tong, the most suitable person to manage Jingzhou was naturally Guan Yu, not Zhao Yun. Even if Liu Bei recognized Zhao Yun's ability, it was somewhat difficult for Zhao Yun to familiarize himself with the laws of the water army in a hurry, so it was better to use Guan Yu to get started directly. Guan Yu's subsequent defeat was more due to personnel problems within shu Han and Sun Quan's treachery.
There is also a view that even if Zhao Yun is not allowed to guard Jingzhou, let Zhuge Liang guard Jingzhou, Jingzhou will not be lost. This statement is not unreasonable, Zhuge Liang is a strategist, and his operational ability is better than Guan Yu. Zhuge Liang did not enter Shu and guard Jingzhou, at least he would not anger Sun Quan, "Donghe Sun Quan" this article, Zhuge Liang will definitely do better than Guan Yu. Even if he turned his face to Eastern Wu, with Zhuge Liang's caution, he would not let Lü Meng sneak into Jingzhou like a thief. But Zhuge Liang wanted to stay in Jingzhou, so who entered Sichuan to give Liu Bei a military division? Guan Yu and Zhao Yun were both military generals, where was Pang Tong's level of strategy? Zhuge Liang had more than enough defense and insufficient attack power, staying in Jingzhou was a choice, but Yizhou needed Zhuge Liang more, and Liu Bei could not lack first-class strategists around him.
In addition, there was also a choice, that is, Zhuge Liang led Guan Zhang into the sichuan campaign, and Liu Bei himself withdrew to Jingzhou To defend. With Liu Bei's vigilance, dealing with Sun Quan's sneak attack should be guaranteed, but the battle into Sichuan increased the risk. Zhuge Liang was the number one military division of Liu Bei's group, and Guan Yu was recognized as the second leader of Liu Bei's group. Zhuge Liang is the mainstay, with Guan Yu's temper, can he bow his head and obey Zhuge Liang's command? Zhuge Liang guarded Jingzhou, his status was only slightly higher than Guan Yu, and during his stay in Jingzhou, Zhuge Liang was not Guan Yu's leader. Entering the Sichuan campaign, Zhuge Liang himself did not seem to be good at the military field, just by looking at his several Northern Expeditions in the future, so Chen Shou said that Zhuge Liang "will be able to adapt to changes, not his strength." "If Guan Yu is the main figure in Izukawa, with Zhuge Liang's position, can he fully cooperate with Guan Yu regardless of personal gains and losses?" This is a very big question. If the two compete for merit, it will inevitably lead to the failure of the great cause of entering the river, and at the same time tear the cohesion of Liu Bei's group.
Liu Bei considered comprehensively that after Pang Tong's death, he could only let Zhuge Liang enter Sichuan and leave Guan Yu to guard Jingzhou.
