In 1970, the American astrologer Zipporah Dobyns described astrology as a symbolic language made up of planets, constellations, and houses (she called the "12-letter alphabet") in The Astrologer's Casebook. She argues that Aries, Mars and the first house represent one letter, Taurus, Venus and the second house represent another letter, Gemini, Mercury and the third house represent another letter, and so on. Like what:
Aries = pioneering, passionate, enthusiastic, impulsive, exuberant
Mars = courage, determination, fighting, war
The first house = beginning, self, self-awareness
This relationship, which teachers in hong Kong and Taiwan astrology circles call "homonymic relationship", means that the meanings of Aries, Mars and the first house can be interchanged, while other constellations, guardian stars and houses are also understood in this way. Many beginners in astrology find this associative memory very useful and use it frequently. But this view seriously violates the basic understanding of the universe in classical astrology. Therefore, although I have introduced this kind of associative comprehension memory in the course of modern astrology, I have told the students that in traditional astrology, it is wrong.
Similar to the "homogeneous theory" in Renaissance astrology, such as assigning body parts to constellations in the same order, starting in Aries and the first house, both representing the head; similarly, Taurus and the second house represent the throat; both Scorpio and 8th houses can represent genitals.
Aries, as the first sign of the vernal equinox, is paired with the first house and the human head;
Taurus, as the second constellation, is in charge of the second house and neck and throat;
Gemini, as the third sign, is believed to represent the third house as well as shoulders, arms, and hands;
.......
Ends with Pisces associated with the 12th house and feet.
In this relationship, Scorpio 8th house has a clear connection to the male penis and testicles, which may be one of the reasons why modern astrologers associate the 8th house with sex.
While this pairing of physical meanings between house and constellation is widely accepted, some astrologers object to this overall meaning of constellations and houses. For example, William. Lilly's contemporary astrologer Nicholas Calpeper once wrote:
"Some argue that these constellations have the same meaning as house, that Aries represents life, that Taurus represents wealth, that Gemini has the meaning of brotherhood and excursion, and that you can deduce the rest. My own point is that many people invent fantastic ideas. When they are finished, pass them on to future generations for truth, and put plush clothes on tradition, but there is no reason to wear tattered clothes. ”

As far as the existing astrological data is concerned, I cannot be sure that Aries and the first house, Taurus and the second house... Exactly when this connection first appeared in astrological sources, but it is certain that it appeared in 17th-century astrological sources.
The first volume of William Lily's Basic Astrology, when talking about the house position, introduces that the common symbols of the 1st house are Aries and Saturn, note that the stars in this are not Mars, but Saturn. Logic is that the 1st house is the first house, and Saturn is the 1st star (the outermost star of classical times).
In fact, the earliest of this view was proposed by the Arab-era astrologer AbuMayy (the Arabic astrological age predates the medieval astrology), who used the Chaldean order of the Ptolemaic system, in which Saturn was the first planet and was therefore paired with the first house.
Chaldean order
In Ptolemaic view, Saturn was the first planet, operating in the outermost part of the solar system. The planets are arranged in Chaldean order from slowest to fastest: Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury, and Moon.
Saturn is the outermost and farthest star, and it is related to the darkness that babies face in the womb, so it is related to the origin of life in the first house;
Jupiter, the second farthest star, symbolizes wealth and is associated with the wealth of the second house;
Mars, the third distant star, is associated with siblings, which is the meaning of the third house;
The sun is in the middle, the fourth star, a symbol of the father, corresponding to the father in the fourth house;
Venus is the fifth planet, associated with the joy and love of the fifth house, which can produce offspring;
Mercury is the sixth planet, and because it's close to the sun, it's constantly burned by the sun's rays, similar to a person who constantly dies from various diseases.
The Moon is the seventh planet, a symbol of women and marriage, associated with the seventh house.
This cycle repeats from the 8th house associated with Saturn, a death-related star that may be associated with maternal mortality during miscarriage and childbirth.
Jupiter is a symbol of travel, religion and learning, corresponding to the ninth house;
Mars is a symbol of strong authority, associated with the tenth house;
The sun, a symbol of friendship, kindness and approval, falls into the eleventh house;
Finally, Venus is associated with the twelfth house, a position in which venus can symbolize enemies, sorrow, jealousy, slander, and cunning. In Indian astrology, the twelfth house is associated with pleasure in bed. There is also the view that Venus, the symbol of Eve, acted as a "secret enemy" against God, inducing Adam to sin and causing them to be expelled from the Garden of Eden.
