The Shanghai Conservatory of Music International Digital Music Festival set the stage to encourage creators to enter the field of game music

With the development of the game industry, the game music industry has brought together more and more professional music talents. At the 2021 Shanghai Conservatory of Music International Digital Music Festival held at the Shangyin Opera House on December 12, the reporter learned that the music festival game music group collected 353 groups of works from all over the world, and among the 14 finalists, there were not only veterans with many years of industry experience, but also recruits from many music colleges at home and abroad, such as Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, university of Southern California Thornton Conservatory of Music.

In the final stage, the contestants selected from 24 topics designated by the organizing committee, and combined the theme characteristics constructed by elements such as art style, scene atmosphere, character characteristics, and world view. All works will be played by the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra in the Game Music Finals on December 14, and the judges will score them on the spot to determine the ranking. The total prize money in the game music group is 185,000 yuan.

"We are willing to provide a platform for talented music creators to show themselves; let more music practitioners understand game music and join the game music industry." One of the festival organizers, Mihayou Music Director and HOYO-MiX manager Cai Jinhan said.

In addition to the game music group, the recording art group of the 2021 "Shanghai Conservatory of Music International Digital Music Festival" received 125 works, and finally 12 contestants were shortlisted for the finals.

The festival has assembled a strong jury of university and industry experts, including American composer Christopher Young, who has been nominated for a Golden Globe and two-time Emmy Award; Matthias Erb, a veteran German music producer and sound engineer; and Thomas Parisch, an American composer and producer, who has twice won the Hollywood Media Music Award and wrote for PUBG. Well-known game soundtracks such as "Glory of Kings"; Belgian sound design, systems and FOH engineer Erik Loots.

In order to promote the development of the game music industry and promote industry exchanges and cooperation, Shanghai Conservatory of Music and Mihayou also jointly initiated the establishment of the "Digital Music Professional Alliance".
