Recently, Guangxi Normal University Press published the book "Great American Chinese Characters" by the well-known scholar Xu Chao. Xu Chao is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor at Shandong University, and the director of the Research Center for Calligraphy Art of Shandong University, where he mainly studies the phonology of characters, calligraphy and calligraphy culture.

Chinese characters carry the historical and cultural connotations of China for 5,000 years, and Chinese character culture is the way for the world to understand Chinese civilization. This book is a work about the evolution and development of Chinese characters, and the whole book is divided into two parts: the first and lower parts. The first part is designed for beginners and is entitled "Introduction to Ancient Chinese Characters", with the nature of introduction and general discussion. The second part is entitled "A Brief Explanation of One Hundred Ancient Chinese Characters", with one character as a note. Each note generally includes two contents: one is its oracle bone, gold text, small seal three-body glyph; the other is based on the glyphs of oracle bone and gold text, explain the structural meaning and configuration method of each word, explain its original meaning, extended meaning and false loan meaning, and its use in the bu ci and inscription, some of which also introduce a small number of other words related to the interpreted word. Each note is accompanied by a work of gold calligraphy written by the author.

This book condenses the author's comprehensive achievements in calligraphy, literature, and writing, and is of great significance for readers to understand the origin of Chinese characters, the evolution of Chinese characters, Chinese culture and history.
