As the performance of the four-ring factory emblem, the Audi R8, its second-generation model has been around for 6 years since its debut in 2015, and the news about its successor has also been exposed. Although it has been previously rumored that the new generation of R8 or will be replaced by the V8 engine configuration of the original model, according to Linda Kurz, the product marketing director of Audi Sport, recently revealed to the foreign media Roadshow, the successor of the R8 should completely abandon the traditional engine and turn to the embrace of pure electric power.

The RS e-Tron GT has the largest power output in the current Audi e-Tron electric vehicle lineup, with a total output of 440 kW (598 hp) and 646 hp in the overdrive mode, which is about the same as the current R8's 620 hp. However, although the RS e-Tron GT is fairly close to the R8's maximum horsepower, the two are still different in terms of the series; the former is a four-door coupe and the latter is a purebred two-seater sports car, so it cannot be replaced by each other.
Although Linda Kurz did not disclose the appearance time of the R8 successor this time, according to the previous information, it is possible to debut as soon as 2023, and there are even rumors that it will be named RS e-Tron and handed over to Rimac for production. In addition, Linda Kurz also mentioned that in order to comply with the trend of electrification, Audi Sport expects to achieve 80% electrification of RS performance series products by 2026.
