About the Author
Chen Weisong (1625-1682), also known as Jialing, was a native of Yixing (now part of Jiangsu). He was a poet of the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, a writer of Piao Wen, and the leader of the Yang Xian sect. Son of Chen Zhenhui, one of the four princes of the late Ming Dynasty.
In the fifth year of the Ming Dynasty (1625), Chen Weisong was born and had a literary name at an early age. At the age of seventeen, he took the boy's test and was envied by Yang Tou He Mingrui to take the first child test. Together with Wu Zhaoqian and Peng Shidu, he was praised by Wu Weiye as "Jiang Zuo Sanfeng". Together with Wu Qi and Zhang Zaogong, he was called the "Three Families of the Body". After the death of the Ming Dynasty, the imperial examination was not the first. His younger brother Chen Zongshi entered the family of Marquis Fangyu of Shangqiu, and Chen Weisong also lived in Shangqiu and lived with his brother. In November of the fifteenth year of Shunzhi (1658), Chen Weisong visited Maoxiang and read in the deep green room in the Shuihua Nunnery, and Maoxiang sent Xu Ziyun (Yunlang) to accompany him.
In the first year of the Kangxi Dynasty (1662), Chen Weisong went to Yangzhou to repair the Red Bridge with Wang Shizhen and Zhang Yangzhong. In the eighteenth year of the Kangxi Dynasty (1679), he held the Erudite Hongzi Branch and was appointed to the review of the Hanlin Academy. He died in the twenty-first year (1682) of the Qing Dynasty Emperor Kangxi at the age of fifty-eight.
