Overseas network December 7, recently, the United States Hawaii State Pearl Harbor area of drinking water detected oil components, Navy personnel also reported that there is a smell of fuel in drinking water. In response, the governor of Hawaii urged the U.S. Navy to suspend operations at a local World War II-era fuel facility.

According to Fox News reported on December 6, on December 5, U.S. Governor Iggy of Hawaii and some members of Congress pointed out in a statement that drinking water tests at Pearl Harbor-Hikam Joint Military Base showed that the Navy did not effectively operate World War II-era facilities and failed to protect the health and safety of the hawaiian people. He called on the Navy to immediately suspend operations of the Red Mountain fuel storage facility while responding to and resolving the crisis. The Red Mountain fuel storage facility consists of 20 underground oil tanks that can hold up to 250 million gallons (about 950 million liters) of fuel. Construction of the facility began in 1940.

After nearly 1,000 local military families complained that drinking water "smelled like fuel" and caused some families to be unwell, the U.S. Navy tested the water supply system last week, and one test confirmed the presence of oil vapor. After the Navy reported oil discoveries, the Honolulu Water Commission closed its largest reservoir on Oahu.
