Once "Taiwan independence" gets out of control, will a war in the Taiwan Strait be fought? For Taiwan independence elements, this issue is undoubtedly the core issue of concern to them in the world, and there is no one. But what is interesting is that just recently, Taiwan independence elements have suddenly begun to have some inexplicable self-confidence on this issue:
On December 5, local time, Wu Zhaoxie, head of Taiwan's "foreign affairs department," openly said that "if the mainland attacks Taiwan, it will inevitably lead to a third world war."

Wu Zhao xie
According to reports, Wu Zhaoxie said the above remarks in an exclusive interview with The Australian Sky News Network on the 5th. Wu Chao-sup first declared that the mainland is trying to take Taiwan by peaceful means, but at the same time it is preparing the necessary force plan, and Taiwan must be cautious about this and avoid provoking or provoking the mainland.
However, Wu Zhaoxie said in his mouth not to provoke the mainland, and then he immediately falsely claimed that "Taiwan is not part of China", meaning that the mainland's action to unify Taiwan by force was "aggression by one country against another country", and then declared that if such a thing came true, it would "be a tragedy for the global democratic camp" and would most likely trigger "World War III".
Taiwan military exercises
How did the mainland's unification of its own territory become the fuse of the "Third World War"? Wu Zhao's brain hole is clear, we really can only bow to the wind. But when it comes to the source of this self-confidence, there are indeed a few.
The first, of course, is the commitment to "military defense" from the United States.
As recently as July 13 this year, the new U.S. Secretary of the Navy, Carlos del Toro, openly declared at a congressional hearing that "it is extremely important to defend Taiwan in all possible ways" and that "we should provide Taiwan with sufficient self-defense measures as much as possible."
And when Republican Senator Hawley asked two key questions: "Whether it is 'critical' for the United States to maintain its ability to defeat Beijing to take over Taiwan" and "whether the Navy should prioritize the possibility of the PLA attacking Taiwan when formulating operational concepts," Toro's answer was "absolutely yes."

Secondly, there are indeed some neighboring countries clamoring to intervene in the War in the Taiwan Strait.
For example, in Australia, because of its insistence on anti-China breaks with China, in April this year, Australia's minister of defense and the secretary general of the Home Office successively declared that the Australian government should not despise the possibility of Chinese mainland going to war against Taiwan, and "Australia must be prepared to participate in the war."
For example, in Japan, on July 5 this year, Taro Aso, then the head of the Liberal Democratic Party, who was then Japan's deputy prime minister, also openly declared that if the Chinese mainland "invaded" Taiwan, Japan would exercise its "right of collective self-defense" on the grounds of "existing crisis situations" and work with the United States to "defend Taiwan."

Finally, there is "support" from other small countries.
As we all know, Lithuania, a small Nordic country, in order to set up so-called "representative offices" with Taiwan, did not hesitate to turn its face with the mainland, and was even demoted by the mainland's diplomacy and imposed economic punishment; on December 5, a delegation from slovakia, a small Central European country, arrived in Taiwan. Although it is said that it is only for the purpose of negotiating economic and trade matters, and is not an official diplomatic activity, judging from its battle headed by the Deputy Minister of Economy of sri Lanka, Garek, who personally served as the head of the delegation and had a membership of up to 43 people, it is clear that he is following Lithuania's anti-China campaign.
Since the "father" of the United States has given a "firm commitment," the two "big countries" around the world will also do their best, and all the "democratic countries" in the world have extended a "helping hand" one after another, and the Taiwanese people naturally have reason to believe that once the mainland acts against itself, these countries will categorically not ignore themselves, and this war will inevitably become the third world war in which the mainland "sets itself on fire."
The streets of Taiwan
But will the mainland's action to reunify the motherland really become the fuse of the Third World War?
To answer this question, it is quite simple, we need only look at why the first two world wars were fought: the First World War was because of the irreconcilable internal contradictions of imperialism; the Second World War was the two major tumors of fascism and militarism brewed by the imbalance in the political and economic development of the imperialist countries.
It can be seen that in order for the war to reach a "world-class" scale, the participants must be world-class powers, and the contradictions involved are transnational and irreconcilable.
But all this is applied to the current Taiwan Strait problem, which obviously disappoints Wu Zhaoxie:
The root cause of the Taiwan issue is sino-US contradictions, and it is true that both China and the United States are world-class powers, but the Taiwan issue itself does not involve the core interests of the United States, and the contradictions between China and the United States are far from reaching the point of life and death.
Sino-US confrontation
So why did Wu Zhaoxie break out such naïve remarks?
First of all, the United States began to be at a disadvantage in the Sino-US confrontation - even if Biden did not care about the two-party estrangement, completely inherited Trump's anti-China policy, and even intensified, but the continued decline of the overall national strength of the United States is a fact that Biden is powerless to change.
Second, the mainland's punishment of Taiwan independence elements has obviously begun to increase -- just at the beginning of last month, the mainland first published a list of Taiwan independence diehards, and Su Zhenchang, head of Taiwan's administrative department, and others were prominently listed. At the same time, the mainland has also severely punished those Taiwan businessmen who support stubborn elements of Taiwan independence, causing everyone on the island to endanger themselves for a while.
Finally, the mainland has drawn a clear red line for Taiwan independence behavior - just at the Meeting between the leaders of China and the United States on November 16, our leader clearly pointed out to US President Biden that "if the 'Taiwan independence' separatist forces provoke and force, or even break through the red line, we will have to take drastic measures." In the face of the mainland's righteous and stern words, Biden, who has asked for the mainland, has to bow his head and promise that the US Government will abide by the "one-China policy" and oppose Taiwan independence.
U.S. President Joe Biden
Such a promise is tantamount to pouring a basin of cold water on Taiwan independence elements. Even die-hard Taiwan independence elements like Wu Zhaoxie have finally begun to realize that in the eyes of the United States, they are only an anti-China pawn after all, and they can be completely discarded when necessary, and once the war in the Taiwan Strait really starts, it is even more impossible for the United States to stand up to defend itself.
However, the problem is that it is difficult to harvest the water, and Taiwan independence has reached this point, and it is no longer wu Zhaoxie and others who can apologize and bow as if they did not exist. In the face of the cliff in front of him, wu Zhaoxie, as the so-called "foreign minister", naturally only can accept an exclusive interview with the Australian media, say all the good things about the Australian side, and try to win over Australia as much as possible to give Taiwan a cushion.
Therefore, in this interview, the remark that "the mainland's attack on Taiwan will inevitably lead to a third world war" is not only a blank cheque issued to the Australian side, suggesting that things will definitely make a big fuss in the end, and the Australian side can rest assured that it will boldly oppose China and pro-Taiwan;
It is also a verbal threat to the United States and other anti-China countries, implying that Taiwan independence is no small matter, and that no one in the United States and these anti-China countries should want to be left alone.
Taiwan refuses to reunify military exercises
But the question is, will Taiwan, which has been at the center of the typhoon from the beginning, really do this kind of threat to the countries that support itself, really help Taiwan?
In the final analysis, the so-called delusion of the Third World War is, in the end, just a beautiful lie made up by the Taiwan independence forces to prove that they still have weight in the hearts of the United States.
And even if it really turns into a third world war, in the face of the great righteousness of reunifying the motherland, we still have enough confidence and strength to ensure our own victory.
Therefore, Wu Zhaoxie, if you have to feel that Taiwan can be so important, then do as you please, after all, let you Taiwan independence elements have a good dream before you die.
