"Three academicians in one discipline, all talents in the court.". This is related to Liang Qichao's educational thought and educational methods, and one of the textual embodiments of educational ideas and educational methods is Liang Qichao's family letter.
On August 29, 1927, Liang Qichao's "To the Children", although less than 3,000 words, was very informative and rich in content, including Liang Qichao's own writing habits, physical condition, guidance for children in college course selection, study, and employment, the concepts, methods and taboos of doing learning, the marriage of Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin, and so on. This family letter, concise and profound, the author was quite enlightened after reading it, and believes that the following points are worth noting:
1. Liang Qichao's habit of writing letters. Liang Qichao said to the children: "The letters that have always been written to you are always written at night. ”
2. University learning and recreation. Liang Qichao believes that during college, it is necessary to deal with the relationship between learning and entertainment, and when choosing courses, "in addition to specialized science, you must also choose one or two kinds of knowledge about your own entertainment, such as music, literature, art, etc." According to your third brother, you have read many literary books recently, very good, very good. You originally had some musical genius, and it would be best to use some effort to make him grow up."
3. Impart the way of university learning. Liang Qichao warned Liang Sicheng that university studies should not be too specialized, and that they should learn more about humanities. He said: "Si Cheng's learning is too specialized, I would like you to take advantage of the year or two after graduation, to spend some time to learn more common sense, especially in a certain department of literature or humanities, and use a little more effort." I am afraid that because what you have learned is too specialized, you will make your life nearly monotonous, too monotonous, and you will be easily bored, and boredom will be the root of suffering and even depravity. If your intellectual interest is too monotonous, you will be exhausted with me in the future, and you will not be able to take my lessons, and the pleasures you should enjoy in your whole life will be reduced a lot."
4. Liang Qichao's academic concepts. I am a person with a lot of learning and interest, and the reason why I can't specialize in being successful here is that my life is extremely rich in content, and I can always maintain a tireless spirit, and I have never been here. Every time I go through a certain period of time, my interests turn to new aspects, and I feel like a new life, such as ascending to heaven, like a new lotus out of the water, I realize that this life is extremely lovely and extremely valuable. Although I do not want you to learn from my overflowing shortcomings, at least I want you to learn from my flourishing strengths.
5. Research method of "excellent travel and self-satisfaction". The ancient philosophers of our country taught people to do the method of learning, and the most important thing is to travel and cover, so that they can be self-satisfied. As a result of my decades of experience, the more I look at it, the more I feel that it is kind and interesting. All those who do learning always have to use the two work cycles of "fierce fire" and "slow fire stew". When simmering slowly, it can make the boiling play a digestive role, harmonious and real.
6. Taboos of learning. Liang Qichao said: There is no need to make too much progress in learning, just like packing cans, stuffing too much and too much urgency, not necessarily benefiting.
