In early 1936, Lu Xun fell ill. On January 3, he wrote in his diary: "Armpit shoulders and ribs are in great pain. The next day I went to the hospital for treatment, but it was not eradicated.
In March, Lu Xun repeatedly had a fever and repeated treatment. In late May, there was a fever for nearly 20 days.

On June 15, Lu Xun took an X-ray chest x-ray and was pumped out of the right pleural cavity with 100 ml of yellow translucent liquid.

However, Lu Xun still loves cheap and inferior smoking, and one after another. Dr. Sudo advised him that if he smoked, it was useless to take medicine. Lu Xun heeded the advice of his old friend and smoked a lot in one day to 15 cigarettes.
By August, Lu Xun began coughing up blood. From August to October, he needed injections from his doctor almost every day. On September 14, "the fever reached thirty-eight degrees at night."
On October 8, Lu Xun's condition improved slightly, and he ignored the weakness of the illness and "went to the Youth Association in the afternoon to watch the second national woodcut mobile exhibition." In the photo, Lu Xun talks to the young man and smokes again.

On October 17, Mr. Lu Xun's condition took a sharp turn for the worse and he developed asthma. Hu Feng and others accompanied Lu Xun to the Neishan Bookstore to gossip, and Lu Xun's third brother Zhou Jianren also came, and Lu Xun also asked Zhou Jianren to find a house for him and wanted to move.
On October 18, before dawn, Lu Xun gasped again and had a big seizure, and he wrote a letter to Uchiyama in a messy font, asking him to ask Dr. Sudo to come and see the disease. This was Lu Xun's last ink treasure.

On the 19th, Lu Xun's feet were cold and his breath was weak. At 5 o'clock, "the bitterness was aggravated, tossing and turning", although he played a shot in the heart, he still passed away at 5:25.
On February 22, 1984, shanghai Lu Xun Memorial Hall organized a "Mr. Lu Xun Chest X-ray Reading Meeting", and 23 expert groups from nine hospitals in Shanghai became an expert group to consult Lu Xun's X-ray films.

The X-rays were taken four months before Lu Xun's death. According to historical records, experts concluded that Lu Xun suffered from a variety of lung diseases: not only bronchitis, emphysema, tuberculosis, pleurisy, but also pneumothorax. The fatal cause is spontaneous pneumothorax.
