Jiang Ji did not have any outstanding deeds in his early years, and the history books only recorded that Jiang Ji served as a county planner and a prefecture driver. Judging from their early experience, most people would not have thought that Jiang Ji would be able to rank among the three dukes of Cao Wei in the future, and the "great nobleman" who made Jiang Ji's origins was Sun Quan.
In the thirteenth year of Jian'an (208), Cao Cao was defeated by Sun Liu's allied forces at Chibi and had to withdraw to the north.
