Cao Hongxun, a calligrapher
Cao Hongxun (1846-1910) character Zhongming, also known as Zhu Ming, Lan Sheng, another name Ming Shuai, room name Yi Jian Zhai, Shandong Weifang people. In the second year of Guangxu (1876), he was appointed as the governor of Shaanxi And was an official clean and honest.
Cao Hongxun came from a poor family, his father Cao Tang died early, his mother and son lived a hard life, and the young Cao Hongxun often went to private schools hungry, and his enlightenment teacher Ding Xiangting often helped him. After zhongzhuangyuan, he was appointed to the Hanlin Academy to revise and take charge of the revision of the history of the country.
Cao Hongxun is good at painting bamboo orchids between calligraphy, learning European characters, old Yi Hun Pu, and Gong Han Li. His calligraphy is swift with the pen, dashing and refreshing, the knot body is flowing, the staggered, the grass is like the sky and the sky is a thousand miles a day, the super implication is dangerous, the pen is even more flying, and the pen is even more continuous, with the rhyme of majestic and crazy indulgence, reflecting the typical style of his calligraphy.
Cao Hongxun likes to paint bamboo, Kan and stone, and his paintings of bamboo are more than vigorous and heroic, humble and upward, stubborn and unruly, which is expressed by a variety of sentiments. His books and paintings are in the same precious and wonderful situation. His inkblots are found in the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, the Donghua Gate, the Xihua Gate, and the Dashilar Fence. In his hometown, there are stone carvings such as "Rebuilding the Jade Qing Palace Stele" (commonly known as the Four-Sided Stele) and "The Record of the Ten Rib Garden". Wang Fang was his disciple.
In Weifang, there are many people who are famous for their paintings. For example, Li Cheng, Zhou Lianggong, Zheng Banqiao and so on. Purely as far as calligraphy is concerned, only Cao Da zhuangyuan can be counted. In the eyes of the weifang people with a strong literary style, Cao was not only valued as the first official of Weixian and his official Qingzheng, but also the more consistent view was that his calligraphy was higher than his political achievements.
Cao Hongxun's calligraphy was mostly passed down through the generations with inscriptions and woodcuts, so he was once forgotten by posterity. Until later, when people sorted out some inscriptions, they found Cao Hongxun's calligraphy again, and his calligraphy was exquisite, which made many people praise him, so his calligraphy also gradually entered the public's vision.
Cao Hongxun was famous in his calligraphy in his youth, and by middle age, calligraphy had achieved little success, although he was not a calligrapher, he stood up with calligraphy, which was not uncommon in ancient Zhuangyuan, and Cao Hongxun's calligraphy was not only the best in Zhuangyuan, but also second to none in the Qing Dynasty's book world.
