Between the lofty mountains outside the northern cyprus lies a huge Chinese "Ruyi". It is the iconic competition venue of the Zhangjiakou Division of the Beijing Winter Olympics , the National Ski Jumping Center "Snow Ruyi".
For three years, my friends and I have been recording its growth, and also recorded the journey of Chinese chasing ice and snow, and surpassing dreams.
Climb to the top of the "Snow Ruyi" that is under construction
To be honest, my whole body was shaking at the time, half because of fear of heights, half because of excitement. Standing on the top of the mountain, I became the first reporter to do on-site reporting at the highest point of "Snow Ruyi".

We also had the honor of interviewing Zhang Li, dean of the School of Architecture of Tsinghua University and chief planner of the Venue in Zhangjiakou. He told me that the design team found that the S-shaped curve of the ski jumping track was very close to the curve of the traditional Chinese mascot Ruyi, which became the inspiration for their original design of "Snow Ruyi". How to perfectly blend the fast passion of ice and snow sports with the far-reaching artistic conception of traditional Chinese culture at the top of the mountains of Chongli is their duty and their dream.
"Xue Ruyi" is the first ski jumping venue in China that meets international standards, and it is also the competition venue with the largest amount of engineering and the highest technical difficulty in the construction of the Winter Olympic venue group in Zhangjiakou Competition Area. The handle of "Snow Ruyi" is the peak club with an internal building area equivalent to the size of 10 basketball courts, and more than 2,200 tons of construction steel alone.
"Guess how we got this big guy to look up?" Zhang Li first sold me a guanzi, and then told me about it.
It turned out that the "big head" was first designed as a hollow ring to reduce weight, and then an eccentric ring was designed to tilt its center of gravity backwards. "Like a human, the head is thrown back, and the chin is lifted." Zhang Li said as he gestured his head. He told me that foreign ski jumping resorts only have a top athlete departure area, no viewing area, and "Snow Ruyi" will provide the audience with the best view to see the shocking scene when the athletes take off to the highest point.
"Snow Ruyi" has the world's longest ski jumping track, that is, its handle, and most of the foreign ski jumping tracks are built on the earth and stone, "Snow Ruyi" is the 194-meter-long track "framed" in the air. The track, supported by 115 pillars, is like a soft "viaduct". The environmentally friendly construction method used to minimize the impact on the ecology of the valley ensures that the in-situ surface runoff and ecological corridors are not blocked, and wild animals can also move freely below.

From the 100 days of the countdown to the completion of "Snow Ruyi", we began to report every day, the sun rose and the moon sank, day and night, we recorded the process of "Snow Ruyi" becoming perfect little by little, and also recorded the sweat and hardships of the builders during this period.

Liu Kezhi is a Chongli native who was working on engineering in Beijing when his bid for the Winter Olympics was successful. That night, he made an appointment with a few Zhangjiakou compatriots to have a drink, and then quickly returned to his hometown with the team and joined the construction team of the Winter Olympic venues. "Snow Ruyi", "Ice Jade Ring", Olympic Village... All left behind the sweat of him and his companions.
