This is also the first time in seven years that the price of Yoshinoya beef rice has increased nationwide in Japan.
As soon as the news came out, it immediately aroused widespread concern in Japanese society. Beef rice is loved by Japanese office workers because of its high quality and low price, and is also known as the "weather vane of the Japanese economy", and generally does not easily increase the price. But with the yen depreciating, imported beef and crude oil soaring, even beef rice giant Yoshinoya had to raise prices to pass on the rising costs.
In addition to beef rice, since this month, Japan's main edible oil company, Nissin Olliyu, has raised the retail price of edible oil again, which is also the fourth time the brand has raised prices this year, and the price of edible oil per kilogram has risen by more than 130 yen (about 7.3 yuan) in a year. In addition, the prices of wheat flour and sugar have also risen, making many bread, quick-frozen food, potato chip manufacturers in Japan also announced price increases, and consumer spending pressure has been increasing.
On the other hand, 29 new infections were added in Tokyo yesterday, less than 30 for 10 consecutive days. With the decline in the number of infected people, since this month, many places in Japan have successively restarted preferential subsidy activities for catering. In this regard, some analysts pointed out that the current improvement of the epidemic situation in Japan is a good time for various economic activities to gradually return to normal, and the rise in prices is likely to have a negative impact on economic recovery.
