God is the god of the creation of the universe in judaism and Christianity, and when the apple appeared in God's Garden of Eden, it was stolen and eaten by the legendary Eve and Adam, and was called the "forbidden fruit". In this way, the apple stood in the western deification in the form of "evil", but with the spread of the popular Latin translation of the Old and New Testaments, this "forbidden fruit" gradually became the fruit of wisdom that allowed human beings to distinguish between right and wrong, so that the apple that fell on the head of Newton, who discovered the law of universal gravitation. In this way, the apple has completed its qualitative transformation in the improved "taste" of human beings.

Eve and Adam

Today, many people think that Apple comes from the far West, but they ignore that China is also the hometown of Apple, and there is also an "Apple Country" and "Apple City" in Chinese history.

Alimari, an ancient place name in Xinjiang, China, also known as Alima, means "Apple City". Alimari, an ally of Genghis Khan's western expedition to Huarazm, was founded in the early 13th century by the Turkic-speaking tribe Ofharu, the earliest Islamic kingdom to emerge in northern Xinjiang.

Kublai, a famous general of the Mongol Yuan Empire, together with Le contempt, Zhebei, and Subutai, called Genghis Khan the "Four Mastiffs" under his account. In 1211, Kublai led an army on Hazaru. The Leader of Hararu, Arslan, took the opportunity to kill the Western Liao Shaojian and surrender to the Mongols. Genghis Khan gave the princess to Alslan Khan as his wife. Hhararu came under Mongol rule. Another leader of the Khazaru, Zazaar, was stationed in the city of Alimari and also belonged to the Mongols.

Ruins of the ancient city of Alimari, the "Apple Country" and "Apple City" in Chinese history

Alimari changed from "Apple Country" to "Apple City" here.

After submitting to Genghis Khan, he was greatly favored, but because of his love of hunting, he was beheaded by the soldiers of Qu Chulu (The Sun Khan of the Western Liao Dynasty) on the hunting grounds. His son succeeded to his throne and married Shuchi and continued to govern Alimari.

In 1219, Alimari followed Genghis Khan's army on a westward expedition.

In 1225, after Genghis Khan unified Central Asia, he divided the vast western regions into Shuchi, Chagatai, and Wokoutai. Chagatai's fiefdom was originally centered on Ili, including the Chu River, the Taras River, and the middle of the river, and its political center was in Alimari in Ili, where Chagatai himself was stationed in Alimari.

According to today's scholars, the city of Alimari was probably built in the middle of the 8th century, after the Tang Dynasty through the rule of the Qarakhanid Dynasty and the Western Liao Dynasty, and by the end of the Western Liao Dynasty, the city of Alimari had become a famous city in Central Asia. It is located in the northwest of Huocheng County, 30 kilometers away from Huocheng County.

In the spring of 1221, The Changchun Zhenren Qiu Zhiji set out from Beijing to meet Genghis Khan on the Western Expedition, and arrived at Genghis Khan's garrison in early April 1222. He left Genghis Khan in March 1223 and returned to the east. Qiu Zhiji came and went through the ancient city of Alimari, and he said in the "Changchun Zhenren Journey to the West" that there are many orchards here, especially apples, and the Turks call the fruit Alima, so this place has the name Alima (the natives call the fruit Alima, Gaido fruit, to be the name of its city).

Although al-Mali was once the capital of the Chagatai Khanate and once a commercial center on the Silk Road, it was gradually abandoned due to the wars waged by the kings of the northwest of Mongolia for many years, destroying this civilized ancient city.

Today, there is a kind of theory about the introduction of apples into China, that after the middle of the 19th century, the sea ban was opened, Western culture was imported in large quantities, and the exchange of fruit tree resources was frequent. Apple fruit trees were introduced to China at this time, with Shandong being the earliest. It is reported that in 1871, an American named John Neeves brought varieties of fruit trees such as apples, pears, European plums and sweet cherries into China and planted them in the "Guangxing Orchard" in the southeast foothills of Yuhuangding in Yantai. But this must not be the earliest apple in China, but can only be said to be an apple variety introduced abroad by China.

Nikolai Ivanovich Vavilov (1887-1943), a former Soviet botanist, conducted a comprehensive survey of Central Asia and concluded that the true ancestor of the apple was the Xinjiang wild apple. In 1930, after he announced to the outside world that the Xinjiang wild apple was the ancestor of the cultivated apple, this conclusion was quickly accepted by scientists around the world. As a result, later scholars gave a new road map for the spread of apples, that is, the Indo-Europeans who first entered another Xinjiang and the Later Indo-European Tocharians, Sogdians, Serbs, etc., discovered the delicious Xinjiang wild apples that grew in the north of the Tianshan Mountains, and spread outward through the "Silk Road" and the "Silk Road" that complemented each other. In this way, a small apple actually has a little "export to domestic sales" meaning. And the "forbidden fruit" in Western mythology must not be an apple.

Guozigou, also known as Taleng ditch, a 28-kilometer canyon with a total length, has been an important gateway to the Central Plains and Central Asia and Europe since ancient times, and now the Uyi Highway between Sailim Lake, Bole and Yining still passes through Guozigou. Its name comes from the many wild apples growing in the mountains, and it is also the name of the place that accompanies the "Apple Country" and "Apple City" in Chinese history.

I remember when I was a soldier in Xinjiang in the early 1990s, it was difficult to eat a "Fuji apple", and I often remember the long-distance drivers who were scared when they passed through Xinjiang Guozigou. Today, tasting the cider prepared by a friend in Xinjiang with wild apples, I suddenly find that in the face of the long river of history, I was once so ignorant.

During Genghis Khan's western expedition, in order to speed up the pace of the army, Chagatai "chiseled the stone road, the wood was forty-eight bridges, and the bridge could be combined", chiseling through the natural danger, and found a shortcut for the ancient Silk Road New North Road. Today, a flying bridge with a total length of 56 kilometers has been erected in Guozigou, and the graben has changed its route. And on this road, why is apple spreading? (Text/Lu Sheng)
