Xu Guangda's former residence is located in Guangda Community, Huangxing Town, Changsha County, was founded in 1901, covers an area of about 25 acres, is a modern Changsha ordinary residential building, small green tiles, civil structures, three-in-one land surface, sitting north to south, two into a total of 20 rooms. On November 19, 1908, Xu Guangda, the founding general and the first commander of the armored corps of New China, was born here and spent his childhood and student days here.

Inside the white walls of the green tiles, there are former residences, life performance exhibition rooms, "concession monuments", and a Type 62 tank numbered "001" parked next to the stele.

The former residence set up a exhibition room for Xu Guangda's life performance, taking the life course of General Xu Guangda as the main clue, from the teenager who studied the Liuyang River, the hot-blooded boy of the Huangpu Phase V, and the thousand-mile trek to find the party organization, to rushing to the forefront of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, fighting in the great northwest, and being ordered to form an armored army, highlighting that Xu Guangda was the mirror of the communists themselves and a true portrayal of the party spirit of a generation of communists.

Xu Guangda's former residence has been successively rated as the patriotic education base of Hunan Province, the national defense education base of Hunan Province, the provincial key cultural relics protection unit, the first batch of open organizational life positions in Changsha County, and the education base of party spirit and public servant consciousness.

Xu Guangda (1908-1969), a native of Changsha County, Hunan Province. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1925. A student of the 5th phase of Huangpu, he participated in the Nanchang Uprising. He successively served as chief of staff of the Red Sixth Army and political commissar of the Red Second Column, commander of the Red Seventeenth Division, commander of the Red Eighth Division, chief of education of the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University, director of the Staff Department of the Central Military Commission and commander of the Yan'an Garrison, commander of the Second Independent Brigade of the Northwest Jin Dynasty and commander of the Second Sub-district of the Northwest Jin Military Region, acting chief of staff of the Jinsui Field Army, commander of the Third Column, commander of the Third Army of the Northwest Field Army, commander of the Second Corps of the First Field Army and commander of the Gansu Military Region. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he successively served as commander of the armored corps and vice minister of national defense. He was awarded the rank of Grand General in 1955. He died on June 3, 1969.

Chairman Mao Zedong praised him as "a mirror for the Communists themselves." Many of his deeds are a true portrayal of the spirit of the party spirit of a generation of communists.
