In the decades of revolutionary struggle in China, countless revolutionary martyrs have followed in the footsteps of their predecessors, fearlessly sacrificed their lives, and dedicated their lives to the great revolutionary cause. Among these martyrs, they were sacrificed on the battlefield of guns and bullets, and they were also sacrificed under the enemy's knife.
The famous revolutionary martyr Liu Hulan was sacrificed under the enemy's knife. When Ren Bishi told Chairman Mao about Liu Hulan's heroic sacrifice, Liu Hulan's noble and fearless spirit deeply touched Chairman Mao. Subsequently, Chairman Mao asked with red eyes: "Liu Hulan, is he a party member?" ”

After Liu Hulan's sacrifice, Chairman Mao highly summarized Liu Hulan's life with eight words: "Greatness of life and glory of death." Indeed, although Liu Hulan's life is very short, in this limited time, Liu Hulan has brought the value of her life to the maximum.
In 1932, Liu Hulan was born into a rural family in Wenshui County, Shanxi. At this time, the Japanese invaders were already running amok in the northeast region and persecuting their compatriots in the northeast. Much of the country was already developing a very high patriotic sentiment, hating the Japanese invaders to the bone and hoping to drive them out of the country.
Party organizations and many patriotic personages have also mobilized the broad masses of the people one after another, calling on the military and the people of the whole country to defend their homes and defend the country and jointly resist Japan. The military and people in Shanxi have also generated very strong revolutionary enthusiasm. Liu Hulan grew up in such an environment.
Although Liu Hulan's parents were very ordinary peasants, after being influenced by revolutionary ideas, their ideas were also greatly liberated. Their gaze no longer stayed only on the acre and three points of land at home.
The Liu family has two daughters, older sister Liu Hulan and younger sister Liu Ailan. Although the family's life was relatively poor, the parents did their best to send the two sisters to school and let them receive education. So, in 1940, the eight-year-old Liu Hulan began to study at the primary school in the village.
In the school, the teachers told about the atrocities of the Japanese invaders, about the future of the country and the nation, and about the great faith of the Communist Party. Under such influence, Liu Hulan developed a yearning for the party. I hope that one day, I can also become a glorious Communist Party member, leading the vast number of poor peasants to break free from the oppression and exploitation of feudal landlords, and be their own masters and masters.
In order to cultivate more revolutionary successors and attract more people to participate in the great revolutionary cause. Party organizations have set up children's leagues, youth leagues, and other groups in the base areas. In Wenshui County, Shanxi, a children's regiment was also set up. In 1942, at the age of ten, Liu Hulan joined the children's regiment in preparation for becoming a glorious revolutionary fighter.
After entering the children's group, Liu Hulan studied very seriously and abided by discipline, and with his good performance, he was affirmed and praised by the school teachers and the leaders of the children's group. Liu Hulan, who is in his early teens, has also established a firm belief while learning cultural knowledge.
In August 1945, news of Japan's unconditional surrender spread throughout Japan and abroad. The fourteen-year-long War of Resistance Against Japan was finally over, and the people cheered and rushed to tell each other. Liu Hulan was also very happy and hugged and celebrated with his classmates.
However, the young Liu Hulan also knew that the revolution was not over. Having already defeated the foreign enemy, it is time to overthrow the feudal landlords and warlords who oppress the broad masses of the people. In November 1945, Liu Hulan was selected into the training class for women cadres of the Communist Party of China and received inspection and training from the organization.
Subsequently, Liu Hulan returned to Wenshui County and participated in the liberation work. In Wenshui County, Liu Hulan and the comrades of the organization mobilized the villagers to participate in the revolutionary struggle to overthrow the landlords, while preparing grain, military shoes, military uniforms, and other military supplies for the PLA soldiers.
In 1946, at the age of fourteen, Liu Hulan was appointed director of the Women's Aid Committee of Yunzhouxi Village in Wenshui County. Propagate the idea of women's emancipation in the villages and fight for the rights and interests of the vast number of women compatriots.
Chiang Kai-shek tore up the "Double Tenth Agreement" and launched an attack on the Liberated Areas, and the War of Liberation officially broke out. Subsequently, the Kuomintang troops began to launch a large-scale attack on the Liberated Areas and the revolutionary base areas of our army. In order to preserve the revolutionary forces, the Party organization transferred some of its comrades to other places, leaving some comrades to continue the revolutionary struggle.
Originally, the leaders of the party organization in Wenshui County wanted Liu Hulan to move with the comrades. However, Liu Hulan took the initiative to propose: "Chief, I grew up here since I was a child, and I am very familiar with these places, so I will stay and assist the comrades in their work." And I'm young, and the enemy won't notice me. ”
After listening to Liu Hulan's words, the leader also felt that it made sense, so he left her behind. Before leaving, the leader said to Liu Hulan: "Comrade Liu Hulan, when carrying out work, we must pay attention to safety." You can't expose your identity. Liu Hulan hurriedly responded. Subsequently, Liu Hulan stayed in Wenshui County to assist in organizing the comrades to hide grain and convey the organization's instructions.
In January 1947, Yan Xishan's troops stationed in Shanxi and local landlords united to form the "Revenge Self-Defense Force", which surrounded the village of Yunzhouxi in Wenshui County and shouted the slogan of "digging three feet into the ground, we must also pull out the communists." They lured the villagers with heavy sums of money to give them information about the revolutionaries.
In the end, Liu Hulan and several other members of the party organization were betrayed by some people who could not resist the temptation. The enemy wanted to ask Liu Hulan for information about the party organization and the People's Liberation Army, but Liu Hulan remained unmoved and did not divulge the slightest bit of information. The enemy brutally killed six captured revolutionary masses with knives, hoping to frighten Liu Hulan.
However, Liu Hulan never showed any fear. Calmly walking to the side of the knife, he said without fear: "I Liu Hulan, a glorious party member, are a staunch revolutionary. Party members are not afraid of sacrifice. In the end, Liu Hulan heroically sacrificed himself under the enemy's knife. At this time, Liu Hulan was not yet fifteen years old.
After the news of Liu Hulan's sacrifice reached the base area, Ren Bishi told Chairman Mao about Liu Hulan's sacrifice. After hearing the news, the chairman not only admired Liu Hulan's bravery, but also felt sorry and sad for Liu Hulan's sacrifice. The chairman said with red eyes: "Liu Hulan, he is a good comrade." It is the honor of our Party to have such firm comrades. ”
After a while, the chairman asked again: "Is Liu Hulan a party member?" Ren Bi replied, "Yes, she is already an alternate party member." The chairman nodded. Subsequently, eight words of "the greatness of life and the glory of death" were written on the paper, summarizing Liu Hulan's heroic deeds.
Liu Hulan is a hero of the revolution, a hero of the nation, and a hero of the country. At the age of fifteen, she had a very high level of ideological consciousness, put her personal life and death aside, and had the courage to dedicate herself to the revolution. Liu Hulan deserves to be remembered by every Chinese son and daughter.
