Seven Deadly Sins of Gong Jian: The Battle of Yecheng, the Wonderful Four Kingdoms Massacre, the Last Blood, and the End of Gong Pi

A confrontation between Yecheng and a protracted war

On the 28th day of the first month of 384, Murong Chui of Later Yan gathered an army of 300,000 to begin a siege of the city. Soon the outer city of Yicheng (邺城; present-day western Linzhang County, Hebei) was taken, and Former Qin had to retreat to Zhongcheng.

The Later Yan army was erecting cloud ladders and digging tunnels, and any trick was made, but it could not be attacked. Murong Chui then built a long wall to envelop the city of Yicheng, and built Xinxing City in Feixiang (fat township, present-day Handan, Hebei), which started a protracted war.

Murong De, the King of Later Yan, captured Fangtou (枋頭, in modern Hebi, Henan). Murong Kai, the king of Taiyuan, took Guantao (觀陶, in present-day Handan, Hebei) and recruited more than 100,000 troops to support Yecheng. (Sima Guang's mathematics was really poor, so many troops, Murong Chui could not take Yecheng?) )

In April, Murong Chui flooded yecheng with water.

In May, Bingfeng marched north, including Xiaxindu (present-day Xingtai Xindu, Hebei), Gaocheng (present-day Yanshan, Cangzhou, Hebei), Changshan (present-day Zhengding, Shijiazhuang, Hebei), and Zhongshan (present-day Baodingdingzhou, Hebei).

Second, Zhai Bin rebelled, and the Eastern Jin Dynasty knocked on the door

Zhai Bin, the Ding Zero, prided himself on his military exploits, was extremely arrogant, and was insatiably greedy. Murong Chui asked murong chui for a Shang Shu Ling Dangdang, but Murong Chui declined on the grounds that Shang Shu Tai had not been built. Zhai Bin was very upset, so he secretly had an affair with Fei Pi and secretly let go of the Water that was poured into Yecheng. This was also too blatant, and Murong Chui was furious and killed Zhai Bin and the other three brothers. Zhai Bin's eldest nephew Zhai Zhen led Ding Zhibu to flee north to Handan.

In August, after Zhai Bin's defeat at Xiayi, Murong Kai of Yan pursued his troops and continued to flee north to Zhongshan, stationed at Chengying (承营, in modern Dingzhou, Hebei).

Yecheng was besieged for more than half a year, and the grain and grass were exhausted, so they had to cut down pine branches to feed the horses. On the night of August 15, Murong Chui led a large army to retreat to Xincheng and garrisoned, lifting the siege of Yecheng. It was hoped that Gong Pi would lead his people to evacuate Yecheng and rush to Chang'an. But Hepi did not accept this sentiment and continued to insist.

In November, He also sent hundreds of soldiers to Zhongshan to contact Zhai Zhen. Send yangping taishou Shaoxing to lead thousands of cavalry to recruit Jizhou soldiers and horses. The two forces fought against the champion general Murong Long and the hussar general Murong Nong, but unfortunately both failed.

He also sent emissaries to Jinyang (present-day Taiyuan, Shanxi) to recruit the hussar general Zhang Oyster and The State Assassin Shi Wang Teng, but unfortunately the ground in The Prefecture was not very peaceful, and he could not take care of himself and could not be rescued. Sima Yang's advice to return to the Eastern Jin Dynasty was rejected by Himpi.

At this time, the Eastern Jin Dynasty took advantage of the chaos and marched north, and the soldiers had crossed the Yellow River and occupied Liyang (present-day east of Jun County, Henan). Li Yang was less than 300 miles away from Yecheng, and Xie Xuan was given the military title of Governor of Xu, Yan, Qing, Si, Ji, You, and Seven Prefectures for his military achievements.

Three Three Kingdoms fight and relieve the siege of Yecheng

In December 384, Murong Chui saw that Murong Pi was still holding the city of Yicheng and had no intention of leaving. He then led a large army to besiege Yecheng, but the west gate of Yecheng was open. Xie Xuan sent Liu Gaozhi and Teng Tianzhi to lead 20,000 men and horses to rescue Yecheng, and at the same time sent 2,000 grain through land and water.

In February 385, Murong Nong and Murong Lin's brothers, at zhongshan, met and defeated Zhai Zhen and captured the outer city of Chengying (承营; southeast of present-day Dingzhou, Hebei).

In March, Liu Gaozhi of the Eastern Jin Dynasty came to Fangtou and continued north, defending Liu Fu after Sun Yizha (孙就枋劉县, northwest of present-day Xun County, Henan). Murong Chui personally came to the rescue, leaving Murong Nong to continue to besiege Yecheng. When He saw that the opportunity had come, he took the opportunity to attack at night and was taught a lesson by Murong Nong. Liu Gaozhi also defeated Liyang (李陽, in present-day eastern Xun County, Henan), and Murong Chui returned to Yecheng.

In April, Liu Gao's army arrived at Yecheng, defeated Murong Chui, and finally lifted the siege of Yecheng. Liu Gaozhi continued to advance, pursuing Murong Chui to the north. Gong Pi also followed behind and wanted to punch Murong Chui and exhale. Pursuing wuqiaoze (五桥泽, in present-day Guangzongdong, Hebei), he was attacked by Murong Chui and Liu Gaozhi was defeated, fleeing alone on horseback, and being beheaded by thousands of people. Fortunately, there was a pi in the back, and he was able to retrieve his life.

Murong Chui and Gong Pi had been fighting against the city of Yicheng for more than a year, and there was a serious famine in Youzhou and Jizhou, and the phenomenon of cannibalism occurred. Many of Later Yan's soldiers were osmium dead. Murong Chui forbade the people to raise silkworms and used mulberries as military food. Gong Pi was really fierce, why didn't he go back to Chang'an, just his father?

Zhai Zhen retreated from Chengying (承营, southeast of present-day Dingzhou, Hebei) and turned north to fight in Xingtang (present-day Xingtang, Hebei), where he was killed by his men. On 28 July, Murong Chui conquered Xingtang, massacred them, and buried all the defenders alive.

Fourth, he went to Jinyang and successively became emperor

In August, Wang Yong of Youzhou, who was stationed at Huguan (in present-day Huguan, Shanxi), shouted to Pi Pi, come back! He led more than 60,000 men and women in Yecheng to the west to Luchuan (潞川, in present-day southeastern Shanxi) and into Jinyang (present-day Taiyuan, Shanxi). Warmly welcomed by the Hussar general Zhang Oysters and The State Assassin Shi WangTeng, he finally felt the warmth of home. At this time, he learned that the capital city of Chang'an had been breached, and his father Jian Jian had been killed. He wiped away his tears, clenched his fists, and ascended the throne as emperor.

It was only 20 months later that Murong Chui entered Yecheng. Yecheng, a place that hurts self-esteem, doesn't want to stay for a moment. Murong Chui led his army to continue north, charging and fighting fiercely.

In December, the capital was Zhongshan (中山, in modern Baoding, Hebei). A month later, in the first month of 386, Murong Chui took the throne as emperor in Zhongshan.

5. The Western Yan Dynasty returns to the East and the end of the Western Yan Dynasty

In February 386, the Western Yan emperor Murong Chong liked Chang'an, did not want to or dare to enter the pass, and fought with Murong Chui of Later Yan for the guandong. This goes against the wishes of the vast majority of the Xianbei people to return to their homeland. Murong Chong was assassinated by his men, and more than 400,000 Xianbei people marched eastward and embarked on the road back to their homeland. After a fierce reshuffle of the leadership, the leading boss became Murong Yong. Murong Yong's grandfather and Murong Chui's grandfather were brothers, a side branch of Murong Yong's imperial family.

In March 386, Murong Yong came to Wenxi (文喜, in modern Yuncheng, Shanxi), and was already close to the war zone, and did not dare to continue. The large army stopped and built Yanxi City to live.

In August 386, He Pi left Wang Tengzhen to guard Jinyang, personally leading an army of 40,000 to continue to the direction of Chang'an. He came to Pingyang (平陽, in modern Linfen, Shanxi) and became neighbors with Murong Yong, separated by only two hundred miles. One is going to go south, one is going north, and the good drama is about to begin.

In October 386, Murong Yong took the initiative to return to his homeland northeast through the road. Gong Pi stubbornly disagreed, and fought at Xiangling, and Gong Pi was defeated, and Wang Yong of Zuo Xiang and the Wei general Ju Shizi were all killed. Wang Yong, son of Wang Meng.

After this great defeat, He Pi only had a few thousand soldiers and horses in his hands, and Jin Yang did not dare to go back, for fear of being killed. He actually continued to the south, preparing to sneak attack Luoyang. Only when he arrived in Shaancheng (present-day Sanmenxia, Henan), he was beheaded by the Eastern Jin Dynasty General Feng Cai of Yangwei, and the last generation of emperors, Jian Jian, fell. The footage of Former Qin was transferred to Guan Nei's Gong Deng.

Murong Yong continued eastward, occupying the throne of his eldest son (present-day Shanxi), the emperor. The collision between Murong Yong of Western Yan and Murong Chui of Later Yan opened the curtain.
