International Online Report (Reporter Fei Fei): In the days when the land of Shenzhou was celebrating the festival and the reunion of thousands of families, there were such a group of Chinese who stuck to their posts in a foreign country and could not rush to this New Year's covenant with their relatives, they were construction workers in major overseas projects, staff of financial institutions, doctors of foreign aid medical teams, teachers of professors Chinese ... They were like a drop of water, a ray of sunshine, a small screw, and they used their own hands and enthusiasm to build a friendship bridge for Exchanges between China and the world.

Anna is a lecturer from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Two years ago she left her familiar job and city to come to the Confucius Institute at the University of New South Wales in Australia to become a Chinese teacher. In the interaction with the students, she felt the joy of being a teacher even more: cultural exchanges condensed into the bond of foreign teacher-student friendship.

For Anna, a Chinese teacher, every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., students sit in the classroom on time to wait for the "Business Chinese" class to start. It was also the most challenging and exciting moment of her day.

Anna, who majored in linguistics, spent 4 hours or more preparing for this two-hour class at a time. Anna not only needs to understand many areas of expertise that are unfamiliar to her, such as economics and the environment, but also to be able to give vivid examples to stimulate students' interest in discussion and communication. "These students are generally university law teachers, politicians, and then Chinese," Anna said. Their level is relatively high. When preparing for business Chinese classes, there are more materials that may need to be prepared. We have two books, the first volume is macroeconomics, and we will talk about people's livelihood, environmental protection, localization, international trade and regional economy. ”

Anna says taking the class is a challenge, but at the same time, she learns a lot from her students. Anna said, "Because I'm going to give a lot of examples in class, and I'm going to have them use one word [to make up sentences]." Everyone's answer is different, which is interesting. Different people have different backgrounds, such as students who study architecture and politics give different answers. ”

In addition to this "Business Chinese", Anna is also responsible for teaching other junior Chinese and organizing various cultural activities at the Confucius Institute, in addition to running online teaching classes for intermediate Chinese online.

In her spare time, Anna also likes to go to the primary and secondary schools she works with to observe the lectures of local teachers. She was impressed by a game called "Kahu", which was particularly popular in the local classroom. Anna said, "For the primary classroom, the most important thing is the game, mainly the competition-style game. We've tried this game, and from six-year-olds to adults in their thirties, there's not a single one who doesn't like it. With the cooperation of music, people's hearts beat faster and stimulate people's sense of competition. Everyone can't get tired of playing that game. ”

She said that this is very worthy of reference by Chinese teachers, improving the interactivity and fun of the classroom, and improving the interest of foreign students in learning Chinese.

In the new year, Anna and other teachers at the Confucius Institute plan to hold a variety of activities to promote Chinese culture. Anna said, "I tell you the culture, I have such a festival, what is the origin of this festival, and then what we do in the festival, what form will be celebrated." (For example, the protagonist of the Tanabata Festival) is the cowherd weaver girl, and then make a shadow puppet. Then during the Dragon Boat Festival, we make sachets and colorful ropes. It's exactly the same thing that they make a stall for the child when they race horses here, and then let the child knock on the stone and then ride a horse. ”

As all parts of the motherland celebrate the Spring Festival, the Confucius Institute will also hold a Celebration of the Spring Festival in the Year of the Rat. In mid-to-late February, Australian schools will usher in the beginning of the school season, and Anna's classroom will be filled with another batch of new students.

Anna said, Teacher, preach and teach karma to solve puzzles. Teachers should make progress and grow with their students. In the new year, she hopes to constantly enrich herself and let more students feel the charm of Chinese and understand the charm of Chinese culture.
