The "Qiantong Yuanbao" was cast during the reign of the Liaotianzuo Emperor Yelü Yanxi Qiantong (1101-1125 AD), and there were twelve kinds of Xiaoping and folding, and Xiaoping qian was slightly more common.

Liao Tianzuo was born on April 19, 1075, the first year of Taikang (1075), when he was a teenager, he was almost assassinated by the powerful minister Yelü Yixin, but fortunately Xiao Wuna protected him before he was killed, and he was later knighted as the King of Liang and the King of Yan, and successively served as a lieutenant, Zhongshu Ling, and a marshal of the Terracotta Army. In the seventh year of Da'an (1091), he was established as the heir to the imperial throne. On the thirteenth day of the first month of the seventh year of Shouchang (1101), Emperor Daozong of Liao died, and Yelü Yanxi was succeeded to the throne by his will and changed his name to "Qiantong".

In the fourth year of Tianqing (1114), the Jurchens rebelled against the Liao, and the Liao army was repeatedly defeated. In June of the fifth year of Bao da (1125), the Liao Dynasty collapsed, and Yelü Yanxi died of illness after being captured by Jin soldiers (it is said that he was killed by the Jin people), at the age of 54, a reign of 25 years.

During the reign of Yelü Yanxi, the Liao Dynasty was politically corrupt, people's hearts were scattered, and internal and external contradictions intensified, and in the face of the crisis, Yelü Yanxi did not think of making progress and did nothing, but blindly indulged in pleasure, which eventually led to the political situation of the Liao Dynasty falling into internal and external difficulties.

The "Qiantong Yuanbao" was cast in the early Liao Dynasty. According to the "LiaoShi Food Chronicle", "In the life of Tianzuo, new money such as Qiantong and Tianqing was minted." Qiantong Yuanbao is mostly flat money, there are two kinds of kai and subordinate, rotary reading, the style of the book is relatively clumsy, and the dry character is "乹", which is similar to the Dry Character Writing Method of the Tang Dynasty's "Qianyuan Heavy Treasure", which has the same magic. The coin is used for rewards, town treasuries or furnace commemorations, so it is relatively rare.
