In 1101, Emperor Daozong of Liao died and Yelü Yanxi ascended the throne with the honorific title of "Emperor Tianzuo".

Why is the Tianzuo Emperor called Tianzuo

Yelü Yanxi had a hard time ascending the throne as emperor, and the word "Tianzuo" was just in line with it, which was one of the reasons why he was called Tianzuo.
