Biography

Born in 1942 in Chenghai, Guangdong Province, Professor Cai Wen graduated from the Department of Mathematics of Sun Yat-sen University in 1964 and engaged in teaching and scientific research at Guangdong Institute of Technology, and began to study the laws, theories and methods of dealing with incompatible problems since 1976. In 1983, he published the paper "The Problem of Expandable Sets and Incompatibilities", marking the birth of the new discipline "Extensibility" (formerly known as "Meta-Analysis"). Forty years as a day, Professor Cai Wen has deeply cultivated the study of expandable science and devoted himself to the development of new disciplines. In 1987, he published his first academic monograph "Material Element Analysis", which was included in the "Essence of Chinese Academic Masterpieces in the 20th Century". Later, the application of "matter-element analysis" in decision science was proposed- "extendable decision-making method" and "conversion bridge method". Scientific and Technical Literature Publishing Du published his second monograph "Object-Element Model and Its Application" and his edited collection of papers "From Object-Element Analysis to Extensibility", and Science Press published the monograph "Extendable Engineering Methods". In the 7th issue of the Science Bulletin sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a long review "Extensibility Theory and Its Application" was published, summarizing the research overview of extensibility since the publication of the first article, and comprehensively introducing this new discipline. The first issue of the Journal of International Operations Research and Quantitative Management in 1999 published the review "Management Extension Engineering and Its Applications" to introduce the world to extensibility. In 1986, he founded the Institute of Meta-Analytical Research of Guangdong Institute of Technology (now the Institute of Extension Science and Innovative Methods of Guangdong University of Technology). In 1987, he founded the Chinese Modern Design Law Research Society for The Analysis of Matter Elements. Since 1993, more than 20 research scholars (starting points are associate professors, lecturers, and doctors) have been trained in more than 20 provinces and cities across the country, and more than 80 research backbones have participated. It has organized a domestic and foreign extensibility research team. Since 1980, he has been studying the theories and methods of applied extension, undertaking 5 National Natural Science Foundation projects, holding a number of enterprise training courses, formulating management programs with some enterprises, and writing books for publication. In 1998, he proposed the method of extendable marketing, held seminars in enterprises, applied extensibility to enterprise management, and wrote a monograph "Extendable Marketing". Professor Cai Wen has gone to Spain, Japan, France, the United States, Romania and other places to introduce extendable learning, was invited to give lectures in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao, held workshops on extendable engineering, and made many lectures and held training courses in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Ningbo, Lu, Zhejiang, the three northeastern provinces, Wuhan, Sichuan, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and other places, which aroused great interest from enterprises and government departments. In 1998, the magazine "Science Bulletin" sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Sciences published "Commenting on The Extension Engineering Method", pointing out that "extensibility is a discipline full of vitality, and its establishment is the pride of the Chinese, which not only belongs to China, but also belongs to the world".

In August 2017, Professor Cai Wen was appointed as the "Chief Science Communication Expert of National Extension Studies" by the China Association for Science and Technology. Professor Cai Wen served as the director of the Extended Engineering Professional Committee (later renamed the Extension Professional Committee) of the Chinese Engineering Intelligence Society for many years, and made outstanding contributions to the work of the Society and the development of intelligent science.

Achievements and Honors

A new discipline of "extendability" was created with the intelligent handling of contradictions as the research content. He presided over the completion of 5 National Natural Science Foundation of China projects: "Research on the Law of Handling Contradictions and Conflicts in Decision-making System", "Theory and Method of Conversion Bridge", "Generation Method and Coordination Problem of Key Strategies", "Research on the Basic Theory and Basic Method of Extendable Strategy Generation System", "Expandable Marketing Method", and participated in the research of "Theory and Method of Expandable Planning" and "Research on Theory, Method and Evidence of Obtaining Change Knowledge" of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. And completed a number of provincial and municipal projects. His major monographs include "Scalable Sets and Scalable Data Mining", "Introduction to Extendable Logic", "Extendable Marketing" (Simplified and Traditional), "Extendable Engineering Methods" (Chinese Simplified traditional and English versions), "Object Model and Its Application", "Material Element Analysis", "Extenics", "Theory, Method and Application", etc. The results of the international cooperation project "the extended hybrid force-position control of the robotic systems" filed Romanian patents, and in 2014 participated in the Geneva International Invention Fair, where they won the gold medal, followed by the gold medal from the Romanian Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology. "Extensibility Theory and Its Application" won the first prize of the innovation of the first Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Award.

The Extension Science founded by Professor Cai Wen has had a great impact at home and abroad, and he has been rated as "National Expert with Outstanding Contributions" and "Outstanding Middle and Young Expert of Guangdong Province", and enjoys the special government allowance issued by the State Council.

Social evaluation

In 1986, 14 veteran experts, including Professor Chuan Kai, chief engineer of the Forecast Bureau of the State Science and Technology Commission, and Professor Fang Jialin of Liaoning Normal University, wrote 14 written opinions respectively. He pointed out: "A new discipline rooted in our own soil is gradually being established and formed".

In February 2004, the appraisal committee headed by Academician Wu Wenjun of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Academician Li Youping of the Chinese Academy of Engineering pointed out: "Professor Cai Wen and others have established a new discipline spanning philosophy, mathematics and engineering- extensibility, which is an original discipline of far-reaching value established by Chinese scientists themselves. Until now, we have not seen anyone at home and abroad do such comprehensive and in-depth similar work. The Office of Science and Technology Achievements Management of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China released the "Extensibility Theory and Its Applied Research" on the National Science and Technology Achievement Network, pointing out: "This project is a primitive and innovative research, and it is in a leading and guiding position in similar research at home and abroad." The National Natural Science Foundation of China reported that "the establishment and development of the original discipline of extensibility shows that Chinese have the ability to carry out original innovative research - the National Natural Science Foundation of China is a strong guarantee to support source innovation research."

In November 2005, the Xiangshan Science Conference was held in Beijing with the theme of "The Scientific Significance and Future Development of Extendable Learning". He believes that "extensibility has broken through the limitations of Canto sets, fuzzy sets and classical logic, established extendable sets, correlation functions, extendable logic and extendable methods, initially formed the ability to describe and deal with quantitative and qualitative change problems, and constructed a theoretical system and application methods for intelligent treatment of contradiction problems." "The research on the intelligent handling of contradictions is of great significance to the development of modern science. As a new transverse discipline with the intelligent handling of contradictions as the core, extensibility should be loved and supported.

In August 2013, more than 120 scholars from 9 countries attended the "International Symposium on Extensibility and Innovative Approaches" held in Beijing. Professor Wang Peizhuang said excitedly: "After more than 30 years of efforts, China has finally established a discipline with a perfect theoretical system and a research team at home and abroad. I wish you all the university departments that Chinese founded! ”

In December 2015, the China Science News, sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and others, introduced the study of extension under the title of "Extensibility of Original Disciplines". "The study of extensibility is a far-reaching undertaking, he notes. At present, we are already ahead of the world in the study of theories and methods for resolving contradictions, and if we do a good job in applied research, we will occupy a leading position in the world's scientific and technological fields. ”

Academician Wu Wenjun, Academician Wang Zikun, Academician Li Youping, Academician Wang Xuguang, Academician Tan Jianrong and other scientists have made high evaluations of extensibility.

Professor Cai Wen has been invited to Spain, Japan, France, Romania, the United States and other countries to introduce extendable studies, give lectures and hold workshops. In 2014, the patents applied for by the cooperation were awarded the Gold Medal of the Geneva International Invention Exposition and the Russian Federation Award. In 2013, the first International Symposium on Extensions was held in Beijing, with more than 120 experts and scholars from 9 countries participating. Since then, Professor Cai Wen and other extensibility scholars have been invited to give lectures in Europe and the United States to introduce extensibility.

Scholars from many countries have also published research results on extensibility or evaluation articles on extensibility, and the 2011 "Asia and Oceania Information Science Assessment Report" introduced to the world that extensibility is the world's leading science. Professor Florentin Smarandache, chair of the Department of Mathematics at the University of New Mexico, et al., published a paper on the territory dialectic matter element of extenics model, arguing: "Dialectical processing will lead to a revolution in information technology – knowledge-oriented extensibility will reform and influence network culture, as some pioneering mathematicians have done, will redefine the scope of mathematics." ”
