Interview with Zhou Junxun, the "red-faced chess king" of Baodao Island: Chess masters are easy to get, and masters are difficult to find

In the face of today's turbulent chess world, Zhou Junxun, the "red-faced chess king", is very calm and sober.

For the current situation of newcomers in the mainland Go world, the "red-faced chess king" and former world champion Zhou Junxun Jiudan has his own unique view: "The current situation is that chess masters are easy to find, but there are fewer and fewer master-level chess players." In my eyes, many young chess players in the mainland not only do not handle things well, but even when playing, they often lose their basic chess ethics in order to win, which is not a good phenomenon. ”

Since founding the dojo in Taiwan two years ago and devoting himself to cultivating young local chess players, Ah Xun has rarely competed in the front line of the chess world, this time leading the team to participate in the Wei B as the head coach of the Taiwan Central Team. Yesterday, the 35-year-old Ah Xun was interviewed by a reporter from West China Metropolis Daily and exposed: "This time when I led the team to participate in the Wei B, I heard young chess players who were two generations younger than me lamenting that 'child chess players are too difficult to deal with', because even they can't win chess!" ”

About Taiwanese Go

"I hope that the living environment of the professional world will be better in the future."

"Red-faced chess king" Zhou Junxun led Xiao Zhenghao, Chen Shiyuan and Wang Yuanjun, the top three masters in Taiwan, to compete in the siege of The B, until the fourth round of bravely defeating the Henan team led by Zhao Hancheng, he was able to accumulate 4 points to escape the relegation circle...

"The young chess players on the mainland are too powerful, and there are more and more, and in my personal opinion, this thickness is not only far inferior to that of Taiwan, but even South Korea has been completely thrown away in recent years." As for the living environment of the professional Go community, the mainland is indeed enviable, and all the work I have done over the years, an ultimate goal is to hope that Taiwan's Go will move closer to the mainland Go, make the living environment of the professional world a little better, and then attract more gifted children to learn Go. Taiwan's Go is not without talents, but excellent talents have not chosen the professional Go road for a long time. Zhou Junxun said.

In 2013, with the financial support of entrepreneur Lin Wenbo, Zhou Junxun opened his dojo, and the first big thing he did was to select 8 little chess children from all over Taiwan to study and study in the dojo for free. "The annual cost is about two or three million Taiwan dollars, and last year Mr. Lin agreed to our idea of emulating the mainland and The Korean chess circles to engage in training teams, I served as the head coach, and then gathered all the top masters in Taiwan to train together, so that Mr. Lin's sponsorship amount reached 10 million Taiwan dollars per year."

According to Ah Xun, Mr. Lin Wenbo is the champion of Taiwan's first "Celebrity War", has the strength of amateur 7 dan, and was familiar with Lin Haifeng Jiudan in Japan when he was young, and now, lin Wenbo's eldest son married Lin Haifeng's eldest daughter, the two families are close to each other, so in 1999, Lin Wenbo established the Haifeng Chess Academy in Taiwan.

About the offspring talent

"It's not just world champions who can push the boundaries of Go"

During the competition, Zhou Junxun had to swing around the arena several times a day, in addition to watching Wei B from a distance, he also cared about the corner of the women's team. There, there was a little beauty named Yu Lijun who represented the Shanghai Qingyi team Go club, and Xiao Yu, known as "Little Black Jiajia", was Ah Xun's official disciple.

"Li Jun started her career in Taiwan in July 2013, and after our dojo opened, she wanted to come, but the other students were amateurs and a bit embarrassed." Zhou Junxun said.

Ah Xun detailed the reasons why he accepted Yu Li as an apprentice, "First, I should be the most expensive to teach chess in Taiwan, about 3,000 Taiwan dollars an hour, of course, as far as I know, this price is still a small witch compared with the world champion in the mainland. But I don't want her money, because when she was a teenager, my wife Zheng Shuqing taught her and liked her. And after I officially accepted her as an apprentice, it would be more justified not to accept her money, right? Second, I think her image is very good, at the current level, it is too difficult for her to reach the height of Hei Jiajia, but girls with a good image should have an immeasurable effect on the promotion of Go. Zhou Junxun said, "Yes, I just hope that she can better make Go deeply rooted in the hearts of the people in Taiwan in the future." ”

As for the other young Taiwanese chess players at present, in addition to Zhuang Chengtao and Jian Jingting, who graduated from the first dojo and played the first stage of their careers, he also specifically mentioned 11-year-old Yu Bingfeng, "If TaiwanEse Go wants to have a greater breakthrough in the future, it is unlikely that our generation or even Wang Yuanjun's generation will be possible, right?" Only rely on those post-00s. ”

About the quality of chess players

"Learning chess is not gambling, so children still have to take culture lessons"

According to Zhou Junxun, the children who learned chess in his dojo were very tired every day, and after learning chess, they returned home at 9 p.m. and had to continue to learn culture classes under the supervision of their parents. "There's no way, I sympathize with them, but I also hope they don't give up the most basic cultural lessons." Ah Xun said.

Regarding the culture class, Zhou Junxun himself is a special case, because he has a huge birthmark on his face since he was a child, and in school, he always has to be ridiculed by his classmates, and over time, he never wants to go to school again. Later, his mother, a teacher, fulfilled Ah Xun's wish to learn chess instead of going to school, teaching him culture classes alone at home. Looking back, Zhou Junxun said yesterday: "Because of my mother's teaching, I actually finished primary and secondary school, of course, because of the distraction of learning chess, there is no way to compare with the best in those schools." ”

Speaking of the current situation of "young masters" in the world chess world, Zhou Junxun said: "Although the current young chess players are very powerful, whether on the chessboard or under the chessboard, there will be something that makes you feel uncomfortable... This is difficult to explain in detail. I mean, it's too easy to find chess masters now, but there are very few masters, and young chess players do whatever it takes to win, even giving up studying, giving up the most basic things to improve their own quality, which is not good. Personally, my son is 7 years old, and I will definitely not let him take the road of professional Go in the future, because it is too difficult. There is a difference between heaven and earth between treating Go as a rice bowl and treating Go as a pleasure, which is also a little warning I give to children and parents who learn chess all over the world.
