Huang Pilie was a great bibliophile of the Qing Dynasty and a famous scholar of the Qianjia period. Huang Pilie's book collection activities include all the elements of ancient Chinese book collection culture: book collection, book collection, book collection printing, school books, copy books, engraved books, ancient book restoration... In all these aspects, Huang Pilie has a superior performance, leaving countless good stories.

Huang Pilie was born in 1763, and the main speaker Yao Boyue was born in 1963, exactly 200 years apart. Yao Boyue graduated from Peking University in 1986 with a master's degree, and his dissertation was "On Huang Pilie's Achievements in Edition Bibliography". "At that time, there was no such convenient data retrieval tool as it is now, in order to do a good job in Huang Pilie's research, I made a whole box of card information, and thus formed a lifelong fate with Huang Pilie." In 1998, Yao Boyue's "Commentary on Huang Pilie" was published, and it has been reprinted many times since then.

Yao Boyue introduced that Huang Pilie can be said to be a research-type all-round bibliophile, he can hide and learn, can read, read and can proofread, can be published, and can be refined. The books he has collected, studied, studied, and engraved are of great value and are cherished. The number of inscriptions in his collection is numerous, rich in content, meticulous and vivid, retaining many of the palms of the Qing Dynasty's book collection, and also reflecting an important aspect of Qing Dynasty scholarship.

Huang Pilie's words written on the books in the collection can be described as unique, and it is known as "Huang Bao" in the industry. ("跋" is the opposite of "preface", which is written behind books, articles, golden stone rubbings, etc., and most of the content belongs to evaluation, appraisal, and interpretation) From a secular point of view, there are ancient books with Huang Pilie's own inscriptions, and their value will be significantly improved.

For example, Yao Boyue said that in the "Ancient Books and Rare Books Special" of the 2011 spring auction of Xiling Printing Society, the "Chinese" (2 volumes) inscribed by Huang Pilie and returned overseas was sold for 4.6 million yuan, creating a record for the auction of "Huang Bao" at that time, and also refreshing the highest record for the transaction of a single volume of The Qing Dynasty.

The full title of this "Chinese" is "Chinese Twenty-one Volumes attached to the school journal Ming Dao Ben Wei Shi Xie Chinese Notes A Volume", for the fifth year of Jiaqing (1800) Huang Shi did not see the book Zai Ying Song periodical, is Huang Pilie's "Shi Li Ju Series" in the first part, so it is highly valued, from proofreading, writing the preface to the final engraving, can be described as a collection of the strength of the famous masters, fine and good. Of course, the unique feature of this book is that at the end of the book, there is a page of Huang Pilie's 108-word trek, which is titled to the Korean envoy and the first procurator of Kui Zhangge, Park Qi's family. This is the only kind of foreign friends who are now known to be huang's inscriptions, and it is also of great value to the study of the history of cultural exchanges between China and the DPRK.

"Without this page, the similar ancient book of Chinese would be 10,000 or 20,000 yuan a volume, but with such a page of 'Huang Bao', the auction price has soared by one or two hundred times, and each volume has reached 2.3 million, which shows Huang Pilie's influence in contemporary times." Yao Boyue said that although the auction price is only a number, it reflects the recognition of Huang Pilie in the current society, and his spirit of knowing books and loving books is more worthy of our continuous inheritance.
