Wind Forest: The Stolen Tomb of Huang Pilie

Through the wild grass basil, there are few no people, the villager Mr. Tang in front of the road, in front of a miscellaneous forest, branches horizontally, barely pulled out of the way, a piece of loess in the forest, "this is the Huang family grave, there is one here, there is another over there", there is a vertical robbery hole on the mound in front of him, about one meter deep, "This is the tomb dug in April this year, too bad", Mr. Tang said.

Tomb of Huang Pilie, in Suzhou Wufeng Mountain Doctor Dock.

When the predecessors compiled the county chronicle, there would be a chapter of "Tomb Tomb", which described the tombs of local villagers, but they were also a general location. Come to think of it, at that time, there was no developed surveying technology at that time, and it was impossible to mark the longitude and latitude; the second tomb was there, and if you wanted to go to the gurudwara, you would never think of the grave-digging movement that turned the earth upside down in the future, and thousands of tombs disappeared.

Therefore, it is difficult for future generations to search, only knowing the geographical name, not the detailed location. Huang Pilie's generation collected books and proofread everyone, and the tomb was in the Doctor's Dock, and there was no way to find it.

Fortunately, there is also Mr. Li Gen, as well as his famous book "Wu County's Visit to the West Mountain", from which to climb and comb and choose, can find some available clues, and then prove the field search, it is possible to determine the site of Huang Pilie's tomb.

Remember mr. Xin Deyong's words, do research, as far as possible to contact the first-hand information, the earliest information. Using hearsay as evidence is ultimately unreliable.

Mr. Wei Li also searched for the tomb of Huang Pilie, which is recorded in "The Trace of the Soul of books", but Mr. Wei Li's homework was somewhat unsolid, and it seemed that he had found the wrong place.

Mr. Jiang Chengbo, who was not bothered, took out the relevant texts of the tomb of Jin Shengsi and the tomb of Huang Pilie from the "WuXian Chronicle" and told Mr. Wei Li that "the tomb of Huang Pilie is in dr. Dock of Wufeng Mountain, near the Daolin Jingshe", "The tomb of the literary Jin Renrui is in the Dr. Dock under the Wufeng Mountain, near the Daolin Jingshe".

So there is Mr. Wei Li's view that "there are also Wu County documents that the specific location of Huang Pilie's tomb has been traced, only known to be similar to Jin Shengsi's tomb", and further boldly concluded that since Jin Shengsi's tomb was destroyed by the Japanese army's repair arsenal, then, Huang Pilie's tomb, too, "should be equal to the japanese construction of the warehouse."

The logic of this "near Daolin Jingshe" is debatable, Xidan is close to Tiananmen, and Dongdan is also close to Tiananmen, then, Xidan is close to Dongdan.

Inside the doctor's dock, the scenery is very good, there is a deep pool not far in front of the tomb of Jin Shengsi, and the predecessors have recorded that the Taiping Army ke Suzhou, the Huang family took refuge in the Wufeng Mountain Tomb, and after "the thief arrived, the family threw the pool before the tomb of Pi Lie" and died.

Mr. Wei Li described it this way: "Today, the pond is still there, the wind and waves are calm, and between the green mountains and green waters, countless past events are gone, which makes me extremely emotional." Ding YoumengChun, Mid-Autumn, Feng Lin and Hongsi brothers visited Dr. Wu several times, and learned from many township residents that this deep pool was excavated by villagers in the 1990s in order to sell soil. Mr. Wei Li stood in front of the pond with a history of less than 30 years, and recalled the Huang family gate that Xianfeng threw water here in the past ten years, which also made people extremely emotional.

So, where is the location of Huang Pilie's tomb? We may as well follow in the footsteps of Mr. Li Gen, slow down, and seek it carefully.

Reading the "Wu County's Visit to the West Mountain", I was often surprised by the accuracy of Mr. Li Gen's description of the place name, the barren mountains and wild mountains, is it a question to the natives? Or is there a military map available according to Lee's identity? I have not seen any account, and I can only guess in vain.

Li Gen visited the tomb of Huang Pilie on the seventh day of the first month of March in the fifteenth year of the Republic of China. The opening chapter of the day reads: "At six o'clock in the morning, enter the JinjingWu of Baiyang Mountain." Check all kinds of information, the south of Yangshan Mountain, for Jinjingwu, there is no south of Baiyang Mountain for Jinjingwu.

Wind Forest: The Stolen Tomb of Huang Pilie

Yangshan Mountain in the north and Baiyang Mountain in the south (Wufeng Mountain)

Yangshan is located in the northwest of Suzhou, Baiyang Mountain is in the south of Yangshan Mountain, and the straight-line distance between the two mountains is about 6 or 7 kilometers. Guessing the "Baiyang Mountain Jinjingwu" claim, one may be the same name, just like there are two Chicken Cage Mountains in the west of Suzhou, and the other possibility is to mistakenly mark the yangshan name as Baiyang Mountain when marking the map with the Zhishu.

After struggling with this problem for a long time, I searched for information, and then Brother Hongsi passed me an old map of Suzhou, which was marked in the Baiyang Mountain area in the 1960s and 1970s. The "Yangshan" entry of the Guangling Book Society's "Suzhou Shanshui Chronicle" records that there is a Jinjingwu in the south of Yangshan, also known as the Golden Bull Dock, is it indeed a map mislabeling, in order to spread false rumors?

Old Map of Suzhou (Collected by Brother Hongsi)

The reason for tangling this place name is to understand Li Gengen's route, and the "Ancient Record of Wu County's Visit to Xishan" records that after the end of the search the day before, "the arrival of the shanren bridge boat is already seven o'clock", which may be in the suzhou, or it may be found elsewhere. Shanren Bridge is located in the south of Baiyang Mountain, the next morning, climb Baiyang Mountain, the nearest two docks, one in the south of the mountain, one in the southwest, it is possible to climb the mountain.

Read the travelogues of the predecessors, if it is the place you have been, confirm each other in your heart, and have no interest. After climbing the mountain to see the scenery, descend the mountain through the royal road to the Ziquan Ancient Temple. Ding Youmeng Chun, visiting the tomb of Huang Pilie, from Qiongling Road to 076 Village Road, not far away, the road side is impressive "Purple Spring Ancient Temple" four big characters, quite amazing, nearly a hundred years this temple is still there, after checking the data, the ancient temple is also relocated, but it is not far from the original site.

On the way back, there was an ancient well on the left side of the road, and Li Gen recorded: "There is a ruined site of Juxin Nunnery, and there is a big well." The villagers are cloudy, that is, the remains of Chen Baiyang Five Lakes Farmhouse", I don't know if this well. Brother Hongsi looked at it for half a day and said that it was not like the old well, the inner wall was red brick, and there was a water supply pipe. I have always been accustomed to raising the bar with Brother Hongsi, and as soon as I opened my mouth, I said, "Maybe the ancient well is renovated, and the well circle looks old."

Look at the route after Li Gengen: "Out of the village of Dr. Wu, you must be respectful of the old Chengfang, there are Huabiao, Weng Zhong, Shi Shi, Stone Horse, Shi Qi, etc., all of which are poured servants and graves." The villagers are the tombs of the Xu clan, and no one has come for forty or fifty years." The Kangxi Southern Tour gave Xu Qianxue's cousin Xu Bingyi "respectful old cheng", and these four characters were engraved on the square, and Mr. Li Gen concluded that it was Xu Bingyi's tomb.

Hongsi brother took the camera to take a picture of the village name sign of "Doctor's Dock Village", and Hongsi brother raised the bar on the origin of the village name, before there were many information to indicate that Doctor's Dock was named because of the tomb of Jin Sheng, because of the person, secretly thinking that this is a take-it-for-grant statement, there is no credible basis. Jin Sheng sighed that he was no more than a student, a disciple of the doctor, and the doctor could not fight with the eight rods, even if he was famous, he would change the place name? In addition, Suzhou also has the descendants of Yanzi living, and the name of the Five Classics Doctor who was given by the imperial court is more likely to be buried in the dock.

Brother Hongsi ignored my sophistry, and I had to go through the pile of paper to raise the bar with him. Later, in the Ming Dynasty Wang Jun's "Gu Su Zhi", this passage was found: "Xiaobaiyang Mountain, a Fulong Mountain, in the south of Jinjingwu, beyond the mountains, the mountain site used to have a heart, and it is now abandoned." To its southeast are Dr. Wu, Midas Ridge and Zhufeng Ridge. To the southeast is Lion Rock, above the village. In the south, there is Noshiba, all of which belong to the Spirit Rock Mountain. ”

Ming Dynasty Wang Jun's "Gu Su Zhi"

Yangshan, Baiyangshan, Xiaobaiyangshan... Is this going to drive my rhythm crazy? The tolerance is carefully combed. This Xiaobaiyang Mountain is located in the southeast of Yangshan Mountain, northeast of Baiyang Mountain, since the Ming Dynasty had the name of "Doctor's Dock", it can be proved that its name was not because of Jin Shengsi.

So how did the Doctor's Dock of Xiaobaiyang Mountain become the Doctor's Dock of Baiyang Mountain? I guess it is the late Qing Dynasty "Suzhou Fu Zhi" and the Republic of China "Wu County Chronicle" demolished the rotten stain, because the previous records of Jin Shengsi's tomb are "Wufeng Mountain under the Xishan Dock" and "Baiyang Mountain West Mountain Dock" (Baiyang Mountain is the Five Peaks Mountain), it is possible that the people who compiled the chronicle mistakenly thought that "Xiaobaiyang Mountain" was Baiyang Mountain, and the west side of Baiyang Mountain was a dock, so the name of Xishan Wu was justified as "Doctor's Dock".

When looking for the documents of Jin Sheng's tomb, I saw that there was such a passage: Li Gengen's "Wu County's Visit to the Ancient Mountains of Xishan", Volume II: "At eight o'clock in the morning, I entered the Jinjingwu of Baiyang Mountain... Enter the Doctor's Dock, visit the Tomb of The Golden Saint... Walk all over the Doctor's Dock and finally sigh the tomb. Meet an old woman, inquire, Yun: 'The golden tomb is in Xishanwu, non-doctoral dock, and Wu Tanhua rebuilt it the year before. 'Turn into Xishanwu, pass through the Wujiang Shishi Tomb, the mountain dock is full of holy sigh tombs, and build 'Qing Literature Jinrenrui Tomb', Wu Yinpei's stele".

It can be seen that Li Gen may have read the relevant records and was taken to the ditch by books. However, checking the "Wu County Xishan Visit to the Ancient Record", but do not see this paragraph, check the version of this book, there are the fifteenth year of the Republic of China Taidong Bookstore lead print, and the eighteenth year of the Republic of China Qushi Jinglu Li family woodcut, now popular is the latter, for the revised version. There is no lead copy at hand, it is impossible to determine the original, if so, why did Li Gen delete this paragraph? Or did you also find out that the titles of Xishanwu and Doctor's Dock were wrong?

"Wu County's Visit to the West Mountain"

After passing through Xu Bingyi's tomb, there are "Zhang Shifang Tomb, Fang carved Zhang Shi Dafu Que Five Characters, Wanli Yi Unitary March, Jing min township Gong Jinshi from the nephew Fengyi inscription", Zhang Fengyi is the one who wrote the legendary drama "Red Breeze", this Zhang Shifang tomb is a family tomb, from the existing information, the treasure of the town hall of the Nanjing Museum "Jade Leaf Golden Cicada" was excavated here.

In 1954, the Jiangsu Provincial Cultural Affairs Commission received a notice from the Political Department of the East China Military Region that in order to build a tank training ground in the dock, the tombs in the dock must be cleaned up. According to the old Mr. Zhu Jiang, who participated in the excavation at that time, dr. Dock, Ming and Qing tombs are dense, stone arches and tombstones are lined up, and local migrant workers said that a few days before the cultural relics working group moved in, there was a noise every night in the dock, saying that the ghosts moved, and the result really came to the grave diggers.

Zhang family tomb at the mouth of the dock, "Jade Leaf Golden Cicada" today's information shows that excavated in the "Zhang Anwan Family Tomb No. 14 Tomb", according to Mr. Zhu Jiang, the excavation briefing of this tomb has long been written, but by the "Song below the Song Dynasty" concept at that time, has not been published, so we do not see more details today, which is also a pity.

Jade Leaf Golden Cicada (Data Map)

The full name of "Jade Leaf Golden Cicada" is "Silver Tou Yu Leaf Golden Cicada HairPin", the jade leaf is resting on the golden cicada, the silver flower supports the jade leaf, and the flower holder is connected to the silver hairpin. The tomb is a tomb in the middle of the Ming Dynasty, the owner of the tomb and a wife and three concubines, brick coffin. The wife is on the left side of the tomb owner, and on the right side are the three concubines, and the tomb of the jade leaf golden cicada unearthed is the tomb of the concubine. The golden cicada is made of very fine gold wire, the jade leaf is made of mutton fat jade, this hairpin is inserted in front of the hostess's hair knot, the skull has decayed, there are still hair remnants, the hairstyle is faint, and the hairpin position is in order.

Did the excavation include the tomb of Huang Pilie? My brother Hongsi and I contacted Mr. Zhu Lao, who now lives in Yangzhou, more than nine ranks old, and mentioned the excavation scene in that year, and there is no huang Pilie's tomb in his impression. The excavated cultural relics and specimens were later transported by military truck to the Zhongwang Mansion in Suzhou, and there is no record of Huang Pilie's epitaph stone, which speculates that the Yellow Tomb may not be within the scope of excavation, that is, it is not in the Doctor's Dock.

If Mr. Wei Li has read the "Ancient Record of Wu County's Visit to Xishan", it is not difficult to find that according to Mr. Li Gengen's record, out of Dr. Wu Village, through xu Bingyi's tomb, Zhang Family Tomb, Huang Pilie's tomb, etc., and then into Xishanwu, the tomb of Jin Shengsi at the end of the mountain, has clearly stated that the Yellow Tomb is outside the dock, not inside the dock, and it is even more impossible to be destroyed with the Jin Tomb next to the Tomb of Jin Shengsi.

The stone components in the village are all visible

Ding Youzhongqiu, and Hongsi brother revisited the village of Dr. Wu, the village of many old people and young children, while walking and asking, the stone components in the village are all touching, the villagers watched us take pictures of the stone components, gathered to see. Because I didn't know Wu, I asked my brother to talk to the villagers.

There is an old gentleman in front of the roadside cottage, because when I asked other villagers just now, I talked more about the Huang family's one-door burial place, and as soon as Brother Hongsi opened his mouth, he asked "The Tomb of the Twelve People of the Huang Family", and the old man was a little confused, answering: I don't know. Listening to the old man can speak Mandarin, so I was busy following up after Brother Hongsi, asking the old man's noble surname, answering the surname Tang, and after greeting, I was busy changing the pattern and asking: "Do you know if there is a tomb of Huang Pilie nearby?" Huang Shaowu? Yellow Wattle Garden? Surname Huang's grave? ”

The old man pondered a little, "There is one in the Huang family tomb..." Hearing the words and overjoyed, please ask the old man if he can take us to see, maybe it is the brother of Hongsi who is polite and polite, I don't look like a bad person, the old man promised to go with him.

In the middle of the woods, the edge of the grass path forward, the old man pointed to the depths of the forest, "There used to be a grave house here, and the people who watched the grave lived, but now there is none." Pointing to a low-lying area, "This used to be a pond, now there is no water." Further ahead, "there is a big pond here", the old man used his hand to compare the range, "later the People's Liberation Army built roads, but also filled in." Brother Hongsi and I looked at each other tacitly, and invariably thought of the passage that I had read hundreds of times, wasn't this Li Gengen's "DaHuang Le Zhi Tang, Tomb Ancestral Hall Ruins, Dachi II"? "The head of the funeral candidate department, Nai'an Huanggong, is on the left side of the tomb is Mr. Yingpu.".

Abandoned pond at sunset

It had only rained in the woods, and it was muddy and difficult to walk. There is a small hill in the middle of the miscellaneous trees, a vertical pit in the middle, and the newly dug mud under the feet, "This was only dug in April this year, and when they came to rob the tomb at night, someone let the wind blow and stole the tomb." Looking at the thief cave, and Brother Hongsi sighed for a long time, is this the burial place of Huang Pilie, a generation of book devils, book collectors, and the master of the Hundred Song Dynasty? There is still a tomb on its side, the tomb of his father Huang Wei? I stared at it for a long time and sighed.

On the way back, after passing through the abandoned pond, the old man stopped, "This place we children did not dare to come, in the past when the Japanese devils called, the family who watched the grave here put the gold and silver treasures in a thin leather coffin, buried in the ground, and then there were cattle herders, the ox legs were trapped, the things were taken away, the family fled back to see, they could not live, they all jumped into this pool and died."

Brother Hongsi asked the old man, where did you hear this story? The old man replied that he had listened to what Grandpa had said. In the tenth year of Xianfeng, the city of Sioux fell, and the Huang family took refuge in the countryside, "On April 14, the thief arrived, and thirteen members of the family went to the pool to die, and the thief honored his righteousness and martyrdom, saved it, and got one person to live." The next day, the corpse surfaced, and the villagers were wrapped in a scepter, and they were buried in front of the Forest Temple." The story told by the old man is like a reproduction, except that the Taiping Army has been replaced by a Japanese ghost, which has been passed down by word of mouth for more than a hundred years, and it is only partially distorted.

"Wu County's Visit to the West Mountain" Huang Pilie's tomb related texts

It was getting late, and he returned to the village, and in front of the old man's house, he gathered with the villagers to chat and sigh at the vicissitudes of the world, and the monuments that Mr. Li Gen had visited in the past are now in existence. The old man said that a few years ago, there were Shanghainese who wanted to invest and planned to build the doctor's dock into a tourist attraction, with the tomb of Jin Sheng sighing as a gimmick publicity, fortunately, in the end this matter was not discussed, so the dock is still quiet.

Hearing this, we can't help but sigh, the power of ideology and money is so great and indestructible, we envy Mr. Li Gen's historical sites at that time, and now there are only a few relics left, and those who visit ancient times after Anzhi will also envy that we can still see some disasters today.
