Princess Dong is dead, so why is Xiaozhuang "old hatred hard to dispel"? The Shunzhi Emperor tearfully sprinkled the sacrifice text, unveiling the mystery of the wayward son tragedy of Empress Xiaozhuang of Dong'e, "the old hatred is hard to dispel"

author:Wu shi

In the early morning of the seventh day of the first month of the eighteenth year of Shunzhi, the 23-year-old Shunzhi Emperor Fulin died in the Yangxin Hall.

On the same day, Dong Efei's clan sister, Concubine Zhen, was martyred.

The next day, the Shunzhi Emperor's "testament" before his death was promulgated to the world.

It is not so much a testament as a "sin edict", which lists a total of fourteen "sins" that have reduced their lives to the skin.

Starting from "gradually learning Chinese customs and ignoring the old system of the ancestors", then there is the unfinished path of the child, the self-love for the family, the self-confidence and wisdom, and so on.

But what is strange is that

One of the "crimes" was the funeral ceremony of Empress Duanjing (Concubine Dong E), "excessively generous" and "indiscriminate".

How to look at it does not look like it comes from the handwriting of this young Tianzi who has a deep affection for Concubine Dong E,

Coupled with the fact that the martyrdom was the sister of Dong E's clan, it can't help but make people suspect that her mother, Empress Xiaozhuang, had revised the edict.

But Princess Dong is dead, so why is Xiaozhuang "old hatred hard to disappear"?

The sacrifice written by the Shunzhi Emperor with tears may be able to unravel the mystery for us.

The Shunzhi Emperor was deeply influenced by Han culture, and read a large number of Sinology classics, even the difficult Buddhist scriptures could not overwhelm him.

This paved the way for him to re-employ Han officials such as Hong Chengzu and promote sinology etiquette.

But the Shunzhi Emperor was not yet 14 years old, although he actively downplayed the differences between the Manchu and Han Dynasties.

On the other hand, when he was young and vigorous, he almost put the Eight Banners of Manchuria and Mongolia into another book,

This is completely out of tune with the proposition of his mother, Empress Xiaozhuang, and inevitably, the contradiction between mother and son is getting deeper and deeper.

Previously, the Shunzhi Emperor's "crazy" act of discussing crimes after the death of Dolgun had already made Xiaozhuang, the mother, feel strange.

However, she still underestimated this wayward son, or she never knew the Shunzhi Emperor,

In particular, the Shunzhi Emperor's resistance to his marriage and his marriage to the Mongolian Borjigit clan made Xiaozhuang completely chill!

It should be known that in the early days of the Qing Dynasty, the imperial relatives and nobles were mostly married to Mongolian tribes, and even Dorgon's own wives and concubines were mostly Mongolian women.

There is no doubt that as the emperor of the Qing Dynasty, the marriage of the Shunzhi Emperor must also follow this "iron law".

Dorgon had chosen a fiancée for his nephew early on, borjigit, daughter of wu keshan of the Mongolian Korqin Belle and niece of Empress Xiaozhuang.

Even if Dorgon is dead, even if this fiancée was not chosen by Dorgon, in order to consolidate the Manchu-Mongolian marriage,

The Shunzhi Emperor should also marry this Mongol woman.

However, the Shunzhi Emperor had no idea about this, although he did marry borzigit to enter the door,

The grand wedding scene, but set off the very reluctant face of the Shunzhi Emperor, seems to be doomed to the marriage to end sooner or later,

On the night of the new wedding, the Shunzhi Emperor began to pick his new wife's nose and eyes.

After this fight, the Empress Borzigit clan began to live alone in an empty house......... For about two or three years,

At first, the empress also frequently cried to her aunt and mother-in-law, Empress Xiaozhuang,

But in the eyes of the young emperor, he felt more and more that the empress was "very arrogant and jealous", and "those who see Rong Shaoyan, that is, hate and want to put to death".

However, the Shunzhi Emperor could not say which palace concubine the empress had oppressed, so he had already made a decision to "live separately and not to meet with the reception".

In addition, the empress likes to "embellish the jewels and jade" on her clothes, and the utensils are all made of gold.

In the eyes of the Shunzhi Emperor, this was "useless and violent, less regretful", which really made him "endure for a long time, depressed into a disease",

Finally, after the Shunzhi Decade was declared abolished,

Borzigit, who had been empress for two years, was deposed as a "jing concubine"...

The wayward Son of Heaven, in total disregard of the persuasion of Empress Xiaozhuang and the courtiers, finally achieved his goal,

But this ruined not only the life of the little queen, but also the mother-son relationship between herself and her mother.

Empress Xiaozhuang was powerless to stop this farce, and could only bitterly clean up the "mess" for her son:

On the one hand, he explained to his mother's family in every way, and on the other hand, he re-found a new empress candidate in the Mongol tribe.......

In June of the following year, the second empress of the Shunzhi Emperor, the granddaughter of Wu Keshan, the niece of the deposed empress, and the niece of Xiaozhuang, entered the Qing Palace.

She also entered the palace at the same time as her sister, who was registered as Lady Shuhui.

The new empress is gentle in temperament, so the Shunzhi Emperor should be satisfied, right?

However, it did not.

This time, the Shunzhi Emperor "ingeniously" gave a strange reason for "lack of talent", disgusted that the new empress did not learn...

If it is true that "all reasons are excuses for not loving", the Shunzhi Emperor did not know whether the new empress had the talent to learn.

Because after the wedding, he left the new empress behind along with Concubine Shuhui.........

In addition to the unfortunate Empress Dowager, Xinhou, and Shuhui Concubine, there were also two other concubines of the Borjigit clan, Concubine Gongjing and Concubine Duanshun, who were also treated coldly.

These five Mongolian women have never been pampered in their lives, and none of them have ever had children.

Now I understand, the Shunzhi Emperor is disgusted with Mongolian women, or are the empress dowager's mother's family, how can this make Empress Xiaozhuang not feel cold?

Even if the Shunzhi Emperor did everything to compensate his mother, how could he fill the rift in her heart?

Empress Xiaozhuang continued to let her son fool around?

Of course not, this is no longer a question of the son abandoning the Mongolian Gege, which is inextricably linked to the government affairs of the previous dynasty.

The Shunzhi Emperor, who did whatever he wanted, did not think at all that the person who would "be punished" in his place would be his beloved Concubine Dong.

Tragic Dong Efei</h1>

Princess Dong is dead, so why is Xiaozhuang "old hatred hard to dispel"? The Shunzhi Emperor tearfully sprinkled the sacrifice text, unveiling the mystery of the wayward son tragedy of Empress Xiaozhuang of Dong'e, "the old hatred is hard to dispel"

After The death of Concubine Dong, the Shunzhi Emperor tearfully wrote a tribute text of more than 4,000 words for her.

In the altar text, the Shunzhi Emperor praised her for her "brilliant wisdom, self-cultivation, orderly progress and stopping, and the degree of motherly etiquette" the pen is not enough to write,

Sad that I "can't remember everything in mourning", I can't recall everything one by one,

To tell the truth, you can feel the pain of the Shunzhi Emperor's "heart-rending lungs" across the screen.

It is also this sacrifice text that restores for us the harem life of this great Qing favorite concubine Dong Efei - it is simply too tragic.

Who is Princess Dong?

In fact, in the harem of the Shunzhi Emperor, there were four concubines of the Dong E clan:

Imperial Concubine, Concubine Ning, Concubine Duanyi, Concubine Zhen.

The Shunzhi Emperor's sweetheart was the imperial concubine Dong Eshi, who was posthumously honored as Empress Duanjing.

Regarding the origin of the imperial concubines, there have always been many opinions,

Both the Qing History and the Imperial Texts clearly state that she was the daughter of the Minister of the Interior, Eshuo.

However, there are various indications that Dong Eshi did not enter the palace from the normal way:

Empress Xiaozhuang issued an edict in April of the eleventh year of Shunzhi to stop the old practice of ordering women to serve the empress, which seems to be aimed at Dong E' clan.

In addition, it can be seen in the altar text that Dong Eshi, who had received the only favor, "walked left and right in front of Empress Xiaozhuang, and there was no difference between the female attendants".

In the eyes of the Shunzhi Emperor, aifei's humble and measured posture did not reflect Dong E's caution in the palace.

Empress Xiaozhuang is not a fierce god, if it is not a loss, why should she whisper and wait like a maid?

To say that Concubine Dong Efei is also very innocent, in the face of the enthusiastic emperor, how can she -

Shunzhi appeared in the imperial palace thirteen years ago, and the Shunzhi Emperor named her "Xianfei", calling her a "Xianfei" for only two months, and she was promoted to "Imperial Noble Concubine" before she gave birth, and jumped to the second seat of the harem.

Not only that, the Shunzhi Emperor also issued a pardon for this purpose that can only be obtained after the book.

But all this is not the meaning of Empress Xiaozhuang, it is the will of the Shunzhi Emperor himself, especially when he subsequently added the "honorific title" to Empress Xiaozhuang, which does not rule out the act of pleasing his mother.

But this wayward emperor would not have thought that his exclusive favor for Dong Efei would instead become Dong E's lifeblood.

Watching the son hate the daughter-in-law selected by his mother-in-law, but overly enthusiastic about another woman,

Don't say that Xiaozhuang is the empress, even an ordinary mother-in-law will be vigilant - is the emperor planning to depose the empress again?

The Shunzhi Emperor thought that Empress Xiaozhuang had not been able to stop the "deposed queen" and "imperial concubines" issues, and that no one could stop him as an emperor.

Soon, he ordered that all the Mongolian characters on the plaques of the Taimiao Temple be dug up! (Mingtai Temple plaque, stop book Mongolian characters, stop book full of Chinese characters.) - "Qing Shi Lu")

All this was seen in the eyes of Empress Xiaozhuang, and she had some plans in her heart, but she did not show her face in front of her son.

The Shunzhi Emperor did not think so, but Concubine Dong E, who lived in the harem all day, was going to suffer.

In the face of the queen, she did not dare to show any favored appearance:

Get up early in the queen's palace to wait for the living, that is, the sacrifice text says, "The marquis of the morning and the evening are living in the house, depending on the diet, the costume is not known",

In the evening, when the emperor returned to the palace, she had to prepare a supper to serve...

When the empress dowager was ill, Concubine Dong Efei personally went to serve; when the empress fell ill, Concubine Dong served herself, and did not close her eyes for five days and five nights; even when other concubines were ill, Concubine Dong Efei personally served, and there was no rest for three days and nights...

In the eyes of the Shunzhi Emperor, the imperial concubine was "ironclad", a manifestation of deference and modesty, and the empress dowager was also "good and peaceful" and finally accepted her.

He never thought about how "busy" Dong Efei's life was, constantly circling around in the harem.

He also tried his best to meet him, but he did not study for a long time but achieved "fine calligraphy", and he did not believe in Buddhism but "concentrated on Zen studies", these memories in the altar text,

It undoubtedly overwhelmed the young woman.

Misfortune has finally arrived

In October of the fourteenth year of Shunzhi, the imperial concubine Dong Eshi gave birth to the fourth son of the emperor for the Shunzhi Emperor.

The wayward emperor showed every turn that he wanted to make this little baby crown prince.

At this juncture, the empress dowager, who had spent the winter in the Royal South Garden, suddenly fell ill and ordered all the concubines to go to serve the sick——

Including the imperial concubine Dong Eshi, who is still in confinement!

The intention of this is self-evident, Dong E's tired and running in the month does not say, not more than two months,

The fourth son of the Emperor also passed away silently.

Interestingly, as the empress dowager's niece and granddaughter, she never went to Nanyuan to serve the sick,

Afterwards, Xiaozhuang only punished her for not allowing her to come to Cining Palace again...

It seems that Dong Efei was "secretly calculated".

The enraged Shunzhi Emperor then spewed his anger at the empress, accusing her of "neglecting etiquette", temporarily stopping the Zhonggong notes and other items, and preparing to abolish the empress again.

But Concubine Dong could not stand the emperor's torment, and she could only strongly dissuade the Shunzhi Emperor from deposing the empress.

Kan Kancai gained a hint of favor from the Empress,

Unfortunately, in the seventeenth year of Shunzhi, Dong Efei, who had overstretched her life, completed her miserable life at the age of twenty-two.

However, Princess Dong'efei was dead, and Empress Xiaozhuang was "hard to dispel her old hatred."

Because of his wayward son, he made another shocking move!

The death of Concubine Dong caused a huge blow to the Shunzhi Emperor, and this son of heaven, whose temperament was originally impulsive, became increasingly insane in his behavior.

Ignoring Princess Dong's last wishes for a thin burial, the Shunzhi Emperor not only insisted on posthumously appointing Concubine Dong as Empress Xiaoxian.

He also stopped for five days, ordered the whole country to guard the funeral, and forced the Two and Three Heavy Ministers of the Eight Banners of Manchuria to carry the coffin for her (even the empress did not have this treatment),

It was ordered that all the women in the DPRK and China must weep and mourn, or they would be guilty.

In addition, the sacrifice text says that after The death of Concubine Dong, "the people in the palace were very sad, and several people wanted to be martyred".

In fact, he forced thirty eunuchs and female officials in the palace to be buried for the concubines...

The eunuch fell,

The female official can be born from a noble lady, and it is conceivable how much resentment this matter has aroused.......

How could Empress Xiaozhuang turn a blind eye?

"Now that the dynasty has collapsed, and after escaping from this, can it be foreseen one by one?" Those who have lost their hearts to the appointment. As for this, the five are destroyed, and the benefits cannot but be hurt. ”

The Shunzhi Emperor, who was overly sad, also died four months after Dong Efei's death.

Concubine Dong's clan sister Zhenfei,

This 19-year-old girl, in place of her sister, endured the final punishment and then "died from martyrdom".

After his death, he was posthumously honored as a "virgin concubine", but he was buried in the graveyard of an ordinary concubine, and did not receive any preferential treatment.

It is conceivable how deeply the people hate Dong Eshi.

Whether it was the martyrdom of the concubine, or the promulgation of the "Edict of Sin" in the name of the Shunzhi Emperor,

In this way, Empress Xiaozhuang saved face for those important courtiers and wives who had been "wronged" at Dong E's funeral.

It is better to be angry with Concubine Zhen than to make them angry with Emperor Kangxi.......
