The old party members who are more than half a hundred years old, with the momentum of "foolishness to move the mountain", carry their hands and shoulders every day, knock on the rocks and reclaim the soil, work for 21 years, and are stunned to build the only road up the mountain in the village.

The old party member's name is Yu Hongfu, a native of Kou Village, Qinglonghu Town, Fangshan District. The year he started building the road, he was 51 years old.

There are springs, caves, and ancient temples on the top of the west mountain in Koukou Village, and the scenery is beautiful, but there was no way up the mountain before. "As long as the road is repaired, it will attract people to the mountain, and our village will certainly develop." This is the expectation of the whole village. However, the villagers who suffered from the fact that the village collective could not come up with money and made a living by planting crops were helpless.

"If you don't repair, if I don't, who will fix it?" Are mountains so desolate? In 1996, Yu Hongfu gave all the acres of his family's land to his wife, went up the mountain alone to build roads, and with the simple belief that "someone has to do the work", he worked for 21 years until his death due to illness in 2017.

A few days ago, the reporter drove hundreds of miles to Koukou Village to follow the footsteps of this contemporary fool.

Hand-chiseled 2700 tons of stone barren mountains to open the way

From the main street of Koukou Village, go west, cross the Gyeongwon Line Railway, and walk along the gravel path for 5 minutes to the foot of the mountain. This is the starting point of the mountain road built by Yu Hongfu.

"It turned out that the mountains were all barren grass, and people stepped on several very narrow wild roads. Since Hong Fu built this spacious and smooth road, dozens of people go up to the mountains every day to fetch water and exercise, and no one in the village does not miss his good!" I heard that the reporter interviewed Yu Hongfu's road construction, and several villagers enthusiastically led the way.

In the winter, this mountain road winds like a gray ribbon to the top of the mountain. On the road, the square stones are spliced neatly, and many small stones are inserted at the seams, and there is no shaking on the feet. The reporter tried to lift a stone the size of a school bag on the side of the road and found that the stone had to weigh at least 50 pounds.

The stones paved are basically made from local materials. Villager Yu Hongqiao pointed to a nest of weeds on the side of the road and said, "You see here, it was originally a pile of rocks." It was Hong Fu who chiseled down the stones one by one and laid them on the road. "The villagers once roughly counted that the stone used in the construction of Hongfu Road in the past 21 years has totaled more than 2,700 tons, which is equivalent to the cargo capacity of 45 train cars.

Hearing this, the reporter seemed to see the figure of the slender old man in front of him. He used steel brazes to chop stones, and then used his calloused hands to move them to the roadbed, day after day, year after year... Now the pile of rocks is invisible, but on the cliff wall of the mountain, the traces left by the steel brazing stone are still clearly visible.

From the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain, Yu Hongfu built a total of 1500 meters of mountain roads, with an average width of 3 meters. Some people estimate that if you find a professional construction team, such a road will cost at least 5 million yuan!

Near the top of the hill, hundreds of stones are still piled up. It was moved in by Yu Hongfu in 2017. Before the road was finished, Hong Fu died of lung cancer. He's tired!" Speaking of this, the villagers are red-eyed.

Seriously ill still thinking about "the last 50 meters have not been repaired"

Coming down from the mountain, the first household in the west of the village is Yu Hongfu's family. Although there are few rooms in the yard, it is very clean. The living room is simply furnished, with a large wardrobe made in the 1990s and the only decent furniture.

Liu Shuhua, Yu Hongfu's old partner, carefully took out a small photo album, which contained all 5 photos left by Yu Hongfu. But to the reporter's surprise, none of the five photos were photos of his work when he was building the road.

"This is still more than ten years ago, the village organized old party members to go to Shanhaiguan. At that time, he was still reluctant to go, thinking that he had delayed his own road construction. Holding one of the photos, Liu Shuhua's eyes were moist.

Tools for road construction, such as shovels and steel shovels, are still quietly placed in the courtyard. Looking at these tools, Yu Hongfu's son Yu Aimin recalled his father's most tired days.

In the summer of 2012, a once-in-a-century rainstorm fell on Fangshan, and the mountain road that Yu Hongfu had been building for 17 years was almost destroyed. After the rainstorm, the 67-year-old went up the mountain as usual with his back to the basket. This time, he used more than 3 times as much stone to build the road. It was also from this time that Yu Hongfu's small medicine box had a large bottle of painkillers. Once, Yu Hongfu's foot was smashed, blood flowed, and his family advised him to rest, but he said that the road construction was for the benefit of future generations and must be completed as soon as possible.

Gradually, word of mouth spread in the village about Yu Hongfu's road construction, and idle villagers went up the mountain to help build roads, and villagers who went to work also sent gloves, clothes and road repair tools. Yu Hongfu set off at dawn every day, sweating like rain, sitting on the floor when tired, and in order to save time, he also saved lunch, and did not return home until he was hungry at 4 p.m.

Overwork becomes a disease. In the winter of 2016, Yu Hongfu began to cough, while taking medicine while insisting on going up the mountain to build a road, until one day at the end of December, Yu Hongfu who came down from the mountain suddenly coughed up a pool of blood, and went to the hospital to check that it was advanced lung cancer. Lying on the hospital bed, Yu Hongfu thought of the unfinished mountain road, "There are still 50 meters to finish, I have to hurry up and get better, and in the spring there are fruit trees planted on both sides." However, 4 months after the diagnosis, Yu Hongfu left forever with regret, at the age of 72.

Party members relayed the spirit of "foolishness" to pass on the torch

Yu Hongfu died, but his unfinished mountain road was still being raised and widened little by little. "The Village has set up a Yu Hongfu Party Member Service Team, and Party members regularly come here to work and relay the repair of this last section of the road." Yu Honglin, 74, said that after the road was repaired, two rows of jujube trees would be planted on both sides, "This is Hong Fu's last wish." ”

Every month, the Yu Hongfu Party Member Service Team has to go up the mountain to repair the road surface and clean up the weeds once. In addition to building roads, the service team also actively helps villagers solve major problems and small situations. From cleaning and patrolling the hutongs, to the villagers' homes for marriage and funeral, building houses and decorations, you can see the figures of the team members.

Today, the touching deeds of Yu Hongfu's road construction are written on the signs at both ends of the road he built with his own hands. The party committee of Qinglonghu Town has listed this place as a training base for party members to serve the masses, regularly organizes party members to come here to give party lessons, and calls on the cadres and masses of the whole town to learn from Yu Hongfu. The road was named "Red Blessing Road" in honor of this red pioneer.

Hongfu Road is now a tourist route in Koukou Village. Tourists often climb the road to the top of the mountain to see the beautiful scenery of the Oishi River. When the weather is nice, look to the east and even see the CBD high-rise buildings 40 kilometers away. In two months, the mountain peach blossoms that spread over the mountains will decorate the entire West Mountain into pink, and the winding Red Fu Road will welcome more people to walk on the green scenery.

This road also connects all 7 caves of war materials from the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in the west mountain of Koukou Village. This year, Koukou Village will connect 7 caves based on Hongfu Road to create a red tourism route, "so that villagers can eat tourist meals and live a better life, which is also Hong Fu's greatest wish!" Gu Chenglin, secretary of the party branch of Oral Village, said. (Reporter Chen Qiang)
