Under the guidance of the Shanghai Writers Association, Shanghai Sprout Magazine Co., Ltd. and Taiwan Lianjing Publishing Co., Ltd. jointly initiated the launch of the first "Shanghai-Taipei Cross-Strait Literature Camp" (hereinafter referred to as "Literature Camp") in 2015, and the "Shanghai-Taipei Novel Workshop" (hereinafter referred to as "Novel Workshop") in the following year. The literary camp aims to enable young literary people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to exchange works and meet friends; the novel workshop invites outstanding Mesozoic writers and critics from the literary circles of Shanghai and Taiwan to conduct discussions on the theme of literary creation. From the very beginning, the two activities have not only been a platform for literary exchanges, but also a bridge for mutual cognition and understanding. Innovative mentoring systems, blind evaluation systems, mutual evaluation systems and other forms of activities are welcomed by young creators. Cross-strait literature camps and novel workshops have become new highlights and brands of cultural exchanges between Shanghai and Taiwan.
This year, with the goal of integrating resources, the literary camp and the novel workshop were jointly held for the first time, and the Mesozoic writers and critics of the novel workshop will serve as the mentors of the literary camp while exchanging discussions, and the campers of the literary camp will participate in the literary creation theme discussion of the novel workshop. The source of campers is also wider, in addition to the young creators in Shanghai and Taipei recommended by the two magazines "Bud" and "United Literature", there are also literary young people from Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Anhui who were sent by the Yangtze River Delta Literary Alliance, which was just established this year.
"I write novels." "I write prose." On the night of the opening ceremony, the self-introductions of the 21 young people were mostly concise, and in addition to the names and places of residence, "what to write" became the most important label. Of the 21 campers, the youngest was born in 2000 and had just entered the first year of college. Among the campers from Taipei, there are software engineers who write novels, and some people like to watch mainland variety shows, such as "Children of Tomorrow", which they find "very inspirational". As Sun Ganlu, the two initiators of the literary camp, Sun Ganlu, director of Sprout Magazine, and Lin Zaijue, publisher of United Literature, believe that young writers on both sides of the Taiwan Strait have different life experiences and growth environments from previous generations of writers, they all grew up in the context of the era of globalization, and there are many similarities in knowledge structure, educational background, ideological vision, etc., and communication with each other is smoother.
In Taiwan, United Literature is a "must-have magazine" for young writers when they start out, and "everyone is proud to win the United Literature Award." Founded in Shanghai in 1956, Sprout is the first youth literature magazine in New China and the starting point for generations of writers to "sprout". In addition to the literature camp and the novel workshop, Sprout and United Literature will also make full use of their respective literary brand advantages on both sides of the strait to help expand the horizons of young literary creators on both sides of the strait. In December this year, Sprout magazine launched the "Shanghai-Taipei Cross-Strait Literature Camp" album, publishing new works by young writers chen youjin, Hong Mingdao, Shen Xiaofeng, Cao Xu, Yang Liya, Xu Zhenfu and Jiang Yani in Taiwan. Taiwan Lianjing Publishing House and Beijing Century Wenjing Culture Communication Co., Ltd. will continue to publish a series of novel workshops on both sides of the strait to introduce more outstanding works to readers in the two places.
The schedule of 4 astronomy camps and fiction workshops is packed. Starting from "Asking Questions of Mentors", to discussing "What to Do If You Can't Write", Dialogue "Dramatic Moment", "Reality and Imagination", "Popular and Serious: How to Create Novel Tension", Eros Garden on Julu Road will once again witness the creative talents of young people on both sides of the strait.
