We know that it is not easy to cultivate the industry, and seek the prosperity of the aquatic industry. Not misleading, not exaggerating, not hyping, not headlined the party. With the context of breeders, let you enjoy a fine product in a short period of time!

Naked-eye identification (identification) method of common aquatic product species of aquatic flower fry

Fish cubs hatch at the stage of hatching, because the fish body is small, the pigment is not obvious, the flesh is thick, and the muscle nodes are blurred, it is difficult to recognize what species it is at a glance. Combined with production practice, based on experience and relevant information, the following content is introduced to the newly hatched baby fish (also known as water splash, fish flower, etc.) as the theme, and the identification (identification) method of each species at the seedling stage is introduced as follows, for reference only.

(Splash seedlings)

First, the naked eye observation of variety identification is carried out from two aspects

The first is to take the water to see the fish, that is, put the small fry into a white porcelain plate filled with water, let it swim freely, and carefully observe the body shape, color and swimming posture of the fry from the back.

The second is dry water, that is, the water in the porcelain plate is slowly dried, so that the fry are left in the plate, and the body shape, color and other characteristics of the fry are carefully observed from the side.

Second, the distinction between common varieties of water and water seedlings

Distinguish between different species of splash fry, mainly according to the body shape, eye size, the distribution of pigment points such as green tendons, and the characteristics of body color shade, especially to grasp the eyes and body size of the two characteristics.

The water splash fry of the grass carp bighead carp is well-proportioned, neat in size, and larger than the general fry, usually 8 to 10.5 mm, and the body height is 1.4 to 1.9 mm. The body color is milky white and slightly yellowish, and the eyes are large.

Other famous species of splash fish fry are diverse in body shape, most of them are slender and short, generally only 4 to 8 mm, the body color is white and translucent, and the eyes are small. Some of these species of fish have large and thin heads, whiskers at the end of the snout, and a total length of about 10 mm, such as catfish, yellow jaws, and fish fry of the river group. These fry have obvious characteristics and are easily distinguished from the four major fry. There are also some famous fish fry with short heads, melanin in the front of the body, darker color, and white translucent at the back, such as mandarin (gui) fish, pufferfish, etc., which are also easy to distinguish from the four big fish fry.

There are also some famous species of splash fry, the size of the body is similar to the four major fry, easy to spoil, such as copper fish, eel, anchovies, snouts, double-spotted sand loach and so on. However, the main feature of these splash fry is that the eyes are not as large as the eyes of the four fry.

The only fish whose eye size is similar to that of the four fry are red-eyed trout, carp, crucian carp and manta rays. The body of the splash fry of carp and crucian carp is wedge-shaped, and the back of the body is gradually sharpened, with a total length of 4 to 7 mm, which is smaller than the four fry and is easier to distinguish from the four fry.

Identification of splash fry of three or four major fish species

The four major fish refer to the four kinds of fish, blue carp, silver carp, bighead carp, they are all freshwater fish varieties, and in terms of body shape is also very similar, such as: silver carp (white silver carp) and bighead carp (silver carp, silver carp, bighead fish), blue carp and grass carp, these two groups of fish if not carefully identified, the finished fish are sometimes easy to confuse, not to mention the splash of the water produced. The main basis for distinguishing the water splash fry of the four major fish is to look at the difference in pigment. In addition, the shape, size, pigment of the head and tail, eyes and other characteristics are also the basis for distinguishing the four major fish.

(Grass carp splash)

Bluefish bloom fry: 8.5-10 mm in total length; 1.5-1.8 mm in height; slightly curved on both sides of the dorsal and ventral sides of the body; milky white and yellowish in body color than in bighead carp; slightly pointed head; large eyes, crystals reflect white light, it seems that there is a white spot in the middle of the black eye; the caudal fin sometimes sees a black spot on the lower lobe and the end of the spine cord.

Grass carp bloom fry: 8.3-9.2 mm in total length; body height 1.3-1.6 mm; body shape dorsal arch abdomen concave; body color milky white yellowish lighter than bighead carp, bluefish lighter; head is slightly flat, sometimes dotted pigment on the top of the head; eyes are large, close to the snout; caudal fin sometimes visible lower leaves have sporadic pigment spots.

Silver carp blooming fry: 8.0-9.1 mm in total length, 1.5 mm in height, flat in body shape, pale milky in color, lighter than in bighead carp, blue carp and grass carp; rounded head, sometimes visible with dense pigment on the top of the head; large eyes, close to the snout; two small patches of obvious pigment between the upper and lower lobes of the caudal fin.

Bighead carp bloom fry: 9.0-10.5 mm in total length; 1.5-1.75 mm in height; large in body size, thick in flesh, flat in the back arch and abdomen; milky white with yellow in body color, deeper than silver carp, blue carp and grass carp; flat head; large eyes; large tail fin, sometimes visible with triangular pigment clusters in the lower leaves.

Fourth, there is a characteristic difference between melanin on the abdominal fold

This article here takes the four major fish as an example. The four fry of the grass carp are similar, but the silver carp has melanin on the abdominal folds, while the grass carp does not, so they can be divided into two categories.

Silver carp with melanin:

The melanocytes on the belly folds of silver carp are dense and neatly arranged in a distinct black line, and the fish body is narrow, thin, and gray-white.

The melanocytes on the belly folds of bighead carp are sparse and blurry, and the fish body is large, fat, and tender yellow.

Melanin-free grass carp:

The population of melanocytes in the lower horns of the base of the tail fin of the blue fish is elongated, two, pigmented, and the back is curved, so it is called "humpback blue".

The group of melanocytes in the lower horns of the base of the tail fin of grass carp is rounded, one, and lightly pigmented, and there are obvious "red tendons" at the posterior end of the anus.

Fifth, the difference between carp, crucian carp, bream and four major fish

Carp, crucian carp, and bream are shorter and thicker than grass carp, and the rear part of the maw is rapidly shrinking.

The body of the carp is light ochre yellow, the pigment (green tendons) is gray-black, the eyes are triangular and protruding to the sides, and the maw is oblong.

Crucian carp has a pale yellowish body, black pigment, small figure-eight eyes, and a wide eye spacing.

The bream is relatively thin, only slightly earthy yellow from the eye to the swim bladder, the eyes are small and black, much smaller than the four large fish and carp, crucian carp and crucian carp splash fry, roughly half slender body.

Space is limited, but the above is only a general introduction to some common fish species. If you have difficulty identifying splash fry with the naked eye, you can use a microscope to verify it at a glance.
