Dongting Lake, belonging to Yueyang City, Hunan Province, was called Yunmeng, Yunmengze, Jiujiang, Wuzhu, Wuhu, Sanhu, Chonghu, Taihu and so on. The name of Dongting Lake began in the Spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, and was named after Dongting Mountain in the lake.
Dongting Lake was once known as "Eight Hundred Mile Dongting". So how big is Dongting Lake? Aoyama Island
A natural island in Nandongting Lake, one of only three remaining fishing villages in the country and the last fishing village in Hunan. The superior wetland environment has attracted a large number of northern bird groups to migrate to Dongting Lake for wintering, and the total number of birds can reach more than 200,000 during the peak migration of migratory birds in winter. The scene of "birds flying to cover half of the sky, birds falling to occupy half of the lake" is very spectacular. Qingshan Island has a rich historical and cultural heritage, and there are many scenic spots and antiquities. According to historical records, Emperor Shun's second concubine threw herself into the lake and martyred the emperor and was buried in Qingshan. The Nine Turtle Archipelago
