What is the evaluation of Pang Hui in the Three Kingdoms period about the extermination of Guan Yu's descendants? Pound and Guan Yu's enmity pang will be the story of the extinction of the door incident

author:Xunyang salted fish

Pound was a fierce general from Liangzhou, who fought with Ma Teng and Ma Chao in his early years, and his most famous battle record was against Guo Yuan and his allies at the Battle of Hedong, and Pound personally cut off Guo Yuan's head on the battlefield.

At that time, there was only a comparison between "Guan Yu slashing Yan Liang's first rank among the ten thousand armies".

Later, Pound followed Ma Chao against Cao Cao and failed, and fell into Hanzhong, he could have gone to Shudi with Ma Chao to defect to Liu Bei, but was left in Hanzhong by Ma Chao (it is said in the interpretation that it was because Pang De was ill and could not move), and when Zhang Lu surrendered to Cao Cao, Pound weighed it up again and again, and also chose to surrender to Cao Cao, and swore allegiance to Cao Cao, which was incompatible with the late lord Ma Chao.

When Cao Cao was marching west to Hanzhong, passing through Chang'an, at this time Guan Yu planned a rebellion by the local Hou Yin in Jingzhou, Taishou Dongli Gong escaped from death, Cao Cao sent Cao Ren to help quell the rebellion, who knew that Guan Yu also personally led the Northern Expedition and fought with Cao Ren in the Xiangfan area.

Cao Cao faced a two-sided battle, and for the sake of safety, he continued to send Yu Ban and led the Seventh Army to reinforce Jingzhou. —— Among these seven armies, there is the Liyi general Pound.

It is said that Pound de took the initiative to ask for help, and everyone did not trust him, believing that Pound's brother Pang Rou and the late lord Ma Chao were all in Shudi, and Pound had interests on both sides, and it was likely that he would not be loyal to Cao Cao, but Pound swore in front of Cao Cao that he would duel with Guan Yu, and Cao Cao agreed in order not to fold Pound's face.

The latter thing, everyone also knows: Cao Ren trapped Fancheng and could not come out, Yu Ban and other Seven Armies were flooded by han water outside the city, and Guan Yusheng was captured by Ban, Pound and others.

Yu Ban and the others saw Guan Yu and were willing to surrender in order to survive, but Pound was arrogant and overbearing, and was not moved by Guan Yu's persuasion, but instead rebuked Guan Yu, so angry that Guan Yu ordered Pound to be beheaded.

[In the TV series "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", Pound refused to surrender]

When the news of the defeat reached Cao Cao, Cao Cao couldn't help but sigh: I have known Yu Ban for more than twenty years, and I can't imagine that his integrity is not as good as Pound!'

In order to reward his loyalists, Cao Cao had him give Pound's heirs a reward as a sign of gratitude. According to the historical records, Pound had six sons, two of whom were awarded marquises for their father's merits, and look, cao Cao was really very generous with the reward of giving two marquises at once!

Pang Hui was only one of the last four sons who did not have the title of marquis, and when Cao Pi became emperor in the next year, he once again knighted all the four brothers who were not marquises such as Pang Hui, it can be said that Cao Cao and Cao Pi's father and son attached great importance to the merits of Pound, so they gave him all six sons the title of marquis, which was a special honor that other generals with different surnames in the State of Wei did not enjoy!

Of Pound's six sons, only Pang would be very famous.

First of all, Pang Hui's bravery was very similar to his father Pound De, who had also been serving in Cao Wei's army and had become a general by virtue of his military achievements, such as participating in the campaign to quell Zhuge Zhi's rebellion during the Three Rebellions in Huainan.

In 263 AD, the Cao Wei Empire launched a major attack on the Shu Han Dynasty, and Pang Hui also participated.

After the Shu Han Emperor Liu Chan surrendered, Deng Ai, Zhong Hui and other Wei troops also entered the city of Chengdu, and at the beginning, because it was peaceful surrender, the two sides got along very peacefully, but no one knew that the Wei army was already raging in the upper echelons.

First of all, because Deng Ai was the first gong to destroy Shu, which made Zhong Hui very dissatisfied, both sides wrote to Sima Yan to accuse each other; then the Shu Han general Jiang Wei secretly instigated Zhong Hui to support the army and achieve great achievements in order to restore the country. Zhong Hui actually moved Jiang Wei. He also successfully convicted Deng Ai, imprisoned him, and sent him to Chang'an.

[In the TV series "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", Sima Yan read Zhong Hui's letter]

According to Jiang Wei's plan, Zhong hui gathered all the senior generals of the Wei army together, trying to blackmail them into agreeing to participate in the rebellion, and killing those who did not agree. However, things were sparse, and the soldiers who were guarding the general Hu Lie had an old relationship with Hu Lie and helped him transmit news to his son.

[In the TV series "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", Hu Lie confessed to the soldiers]

Hu Lie's son Hu Yuan heard that his father was in difficulty and could not sit still, so he contacted other lower-level officers to launch a mutiny and attack the camp where Zhong Hui and Jiang Wei were located, in order to rescue the generals of their respective camps.

Zhong Hui was caught off guard, and Jiang Wei's army could not defeat the menacing Wei army, and eventually both of them were killed in the palace.

The remaining Wei army supported the overseer Wei Wan as the main general and waited for Jia Chong to enter Shu.

During this time, the Wei soldiers also killed the red eye and began to carry out a retaliatory massacre of Chengdu City, and in Wang Yin's "Book of Shu", it is mentioned that Pang Hui led the army to take advantage of the chaos to slaughter Guan Yu's heirs.

"Shu Ji": Pang Dezihui, Sui Zhong, Deng Fa Shu, Shu Broken, destroy the Guan family.

Whenever the posterity reads here, they all cover up their long sighs, lament the pain of Guan Yu's destruction, and reproach Pang Hui for taking revenge too much.

Shortly after Pound was killed, Guan Yu was also defeated by Xu Huang, and then intercepted and killed by the Wu general Pan Zhang during the escape, it can be said that Pang Hui's father's enemy Guan Yu was already dead, and the blood feud had ended. And Pang will, decades later, inflict the old vendetta that has long been annihilated on Guan Yu's heirs, which is not revenge at all, but the addition of new enmity.

When Pei Songzhi made notes to the Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms, he also quoted several pieces of Wang Yin's "Shu Record", which also mentioned another thing about Pang Hui, saying that after Zhong Hui entered Shu, he also sent someone to send Pound's body back to Yecheng for burial.

Wang Yin's "Shu Record": Zhong Hui Ping Shu, before and after advocating, Yingde corpse funeral and burial, the head of the tomb is like life.

However, this record was rejected by Pei Songzhi, who wrote: (Pang) De died in Fancheng, Emperor Wen took the throne, and sent envoys to the Tomb of De, then his body should not be in Shu. This king hides the falsehood also.

Because, the later historian Shen Jiaben also had many doubts about the source of this book, and even commented on the book "Shu Ji", "it is not mixed."

In any case, Chen Shou did not write about the destruction of Guan Yu's descendants, so many people out of sympathy believe that the story of Pang's massacre of Guan Yu's descendants is false.

However, Guan Yu's descendants are indeed not recorded in the Jin Dynasty. In that great disturbance in Chengdu, Liu Chan's crown prince Liu Xuan was killed by the rebels, and there were many Shu Han courtiers who were martyred, so I see that the possibility of Guan Yu's heirs being killed in retaliation is actually very high. It is not that the Book of Shu is empty.

As for this so-called "revenge action", it can only be said that the tragedy of Guan Yu's family is also the tragedy of the times brought about by the demise of shu Han. After all, the loser has no right to choose.
