Xiamen, 9 Sep (China News Network) -- Professor Zheng Xiaoying, the first female conductor in New China, who served as chief conductor of the Central Opera House, director of the conducting department of the Central Conservatory of Music, and artistic director of the Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, opened a "Zheng-style" conducting basic training class at Xiamen Institute of Technology, which officially opened on the 9th.

In order to enhance the conducting ability of music teachers and let teachers and students of music majors grasp the scientific concepts and teaching methods of the basics of conducting methods, the School of Arts of Xiamen Institute of Technology and the Ruisi Education Center jointly held the seminar, inviting Professor Zheng Xiaoying to teach her 60 years of experience in conducting art and teaching as the basis of the "Zheng style" conducting method to music teachers, music students and music lovers in Chinese mainland universities, middle schools and primary schools.

The seminar attracted a number of doctors and masters graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music, China Conservatory of Music, Xinghai Conservatory of Music and local art colleges, as well as many primary and secondary school teachers.

According to a relevant person from Xiamen Institute of Technology, after completing the interview and selection of two batches of students, the seminar will eventually produce 20 official students, who will be personally taught by Professor Zheng Xiaoying, who is 90 years old, and the teaching forms include theoretical classes and "one-on-one" technical guidance, with each concentrated class lasting up to 6 to 8 hours; it is expected to complete all courses and repertoire teaching in early January next year. At that time, the students who pass the acceptance will receive a certificate of completion signed by Mr. Zheng himself.

Zheng Xiaoying said that the basis of the "Zheng style" conducting method applies to all conductors of collective music performances, including choral, folk music, wind music, orchestral music, and opera performance conductors. The main teaching contents include: conductor schema (sub-beat and co-beat, rapid combination), musical nature (continuous, strong, broken), starting and closing (different schemas, speed, nature, virtual and real), holding and attaching points (static and moving), melodic high point (expressiveness); strength and weakness (high and low and left hand); polyphonic texture (eye-hand and division of labor), etc.

Zheng Xiaoying graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music in her early years, studied choral conducting with Le Dumashev, studied opera and symphony conducting with Professors Nyny Anosov and Geng Rozhdestvinsky at the Moscow State Conservatory of Music in the USSR, and studied in the master class of French conductor Marchevich. She has given more than 2,000 concerts and conducted operas at home and abroad, and is the first Chinese conductor to be on the podium of foreign opera houses many times.

At the same time, she is also one of the most experienced conducting professors in China, teaching at the Central Conservatory of Music for more than 60 years, and her performance form of speaking while acting has been praised by the media as the "Zheng Xiaoying model".

In 2010, Zheng Xiaoying founded the "Zheng Xiaoying Opera Art Center" at Xiamen Institute of Technology and served as the artistic director, and in four years, she promoted five Chinese and foreign classic operas to the national grand stage, fujian grand theater, Xiamen People's Theater, Xiamen University Science and Art Center and other major stages, and won five awards in the first "Chinese Opera Festival" sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Culture.
