Liu Hongsheng was born on March 10, 1931 in Muping, Shandong. In 1947, he joined the army and entered the Yantai Independent Regiment of the People's Liberation Army. In 1951, he was transferred to the Nanjing Military Academy As an actor, and in 1955, he was transferred to the Nanjing Military Region Frontline Drama Troupe as an actor. He has performed dramas such as "Yang Gensi", "August 1st Storm", "Sharing Happiness and Suffering", "Flaming Red Heart", "A Red Flag" and so on. He has filmed films such as "Red Heart of Fire", "The First Spring of the Sixties", "The Path", "Dead Wood Spring" and is well known for his participation in "Sentinel under Neon Lights" in 1964.
