Editor's note: 79 years after the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. On August 15, 1945, Japanese imperialism was forced to surrender unconditionally, and after eight years of bloody struggle, the Chinese people washed away the humiliation of being beaten for a hundred years, won a great victory in the War of Resistance Against Japan, and saved the national dignity of our sons and daughters of China. The dark clouds that had been turned over were cleared, and the motherland ushered in a dawn. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and looking at the five-star red flag that is raised every day with The Morning Sun, who can forget that 70 years ago, in order to overthrow the Japanese fascists, to accomplish things for the sake of the motherland's territory, and for the sake of national dignity, the ancestors of the ancestors threw their heads and spilled their blood. How can we forget that they bought today's peace with their blood? The Xinhua News Agency's article "The Anti-Japanese National Hero Festival of Splitting the Japanese Gendarmes with a Knife> is reproduced below to commemorate it.
Jie Zhenguo, a famous anti-Japanese national hero in eastern Hebei, was born in 1910 in a poor peasant family in Liutang Village, Zhengkou Town, Gucheng County, Hebei Province, fled with his father and brother to the Kailuan Zhao Gezhuang Coal Mine at the age of 10, and entered the mine as a worker at the age of 14. In March 1938, a huge strike movement broke out in the Kailuan Coal Mine, and Jie Zhenguo was elected as the captain of the miners' picket team in Zhao Gezhuang. On May 6, a large number of Japanese and pseudo-gendarmes surrounded Jiejia and searched for Jie Zhenguo and other workers' leaders. The enemy grabbed Jie Zhenguo's brother, and Jie Zhenguo, who had just returned from the well, rushed up to fight the enemy to the death. During the fight, he snatched the saber of the Japanese gendarmerie captain, killed the Japanese gendarmerie captain and several Japanese puppet soldiers on the spot, and then rushed out of the enemy's encirclement and pursuit with the help of his co-workers, and escaped from danger. The news that Jie Zhenguo had slashed the Japanese gendarmes with his sword shook jidong and aroused the anti-Japanese sentiment of the masses of the people, and even the CPC Central Committee in northern Shaanxi knew about it, and Comrade Mao Zedong praised Jie Zhenguo as a national hero. The miners even rushed to tell each other that "Jie Zhenguo is good!" "When Zhenguo was recovering from his injuries, it coincided with the CPC's Jirebian Special Committee launching a major anti-Japanese uprising in eastern Hebei in accordance with the instructions of the Party Central Committee. After hearing the news, he quickly contacted the miners, put up a banner of anti-Japanese resistance, formed a workers' anti-Japanese guerrilla group, and participated in the riot. Soon, he led his troops to join the Li Yunchang Department of the Anti-Japanese Coalition Army in Eastern Hebei, and was organized into the First Brigade of Secret Agents directly under the Second Road Headquarters of the Eastern Hebei Anti-Japanese Alliance, that is, the Workers' Special Brigade, with Jie Zhenguo as the captain of the brigade.
From July 1938, Jie Zhenguo led the troops to be active in the mining areas and the vast countryside, mobilizing miners to participate in the anti-Japanese armed forces, and attacking the Japanese puppet army in a mysterious way. Under the call and encouragement of the workers' special brigade, the workers' anti-Japanese momentum became increasingly large. From the Zhao Gezhuang Mine to the mining areas of the Kailuan Mine, several anti-Japanese guerrilla groups were established, and more than 3,000 workers successively participated in the anti-Japanese contingent. Jie Zhenguo led the workers' special brigade and the Japanese puppet army to fight fiercely several times, and twice recaptured the mining areas of Zhao Gezhuang and Tangjiazhuang, effectively supporting and cooperating with the anti-Japanese struggle in the eastern Hebei region. Under the leadership of the party and in the rain of bullets and bullets in the War of Resistance Against Japan, the workers' special service brigade led by Jie Zhenguo became stronger and stronger in the war, and was later reorganized into the 12th Regiment and 1st Company of the Eighth Route Army, making important contributions to opening up a new situation of anti-Japanese resistance in eastern Hebei. In the autumn of 1939, Jie Zhenguo gloriously joined the Communist Party of China. On August 1, 1940, Jie Zhenguo, an outstanding fighter of the Chinese working class and a national hero of the Anti-Japanese War, led his troops to fight against the Japanese puppet army, and died heroically at the age of 30.
In August 1940, Yan'an's "Chinese Workers" magazine briefed the anti-Japanese soldiers and civilians in the base areas on Jie Zhenguo's heroic anti-Japanese achievements starting from the sword splitting the Japanese gendarmes. After the founding of New China, the heroic deeds of Jie Zhenguo were compiled into novels and modern Peking Opera, and filmed into films that were screened nationwide. His lofty national integrity and heroic spirit will always inspire future generations! (Xinhua News Agency)
