After a two-week hunger strike, New York taxi drivers reached an agreement to waive their license plate debt.
After more than a month of protests, New York taxi drivers finally reached a debt relief agreement with the New York municipality and a private asset management company, while calling on the mayor of New York to do more to help thousands of drivers struggling with license debt, according to U.S. media amany.
"We can't leave new York City behind because of the tireless work of our taxi drivers that make New York City the most dynamic city in the world, and I'm proud to work with senators to build a fair, sustainable solution that reduces the debt burden of drivers who work hard to keep the city running," the mayor of New York said.
