"Memories of Killing" is a monumental work of Iwashiro's tenth year of his debut, with the simplicity and regularity of his early works, literary descriptions and layers, and, on the basis of the sweet sketches, through his solid academic string orchestration skills, he has moved towards an open and broad master's spirit. What is deeply admirable is that such a master's courage does not turn over the river and the sea is complicated and lengthy, but with a simple piano flick and instrumentation, inadvertently firmly grasping the heart of each audience.
The piano is the soul of the sound of the whole movie, inadvertently, it is integrated with the sound of the environment and becomes the driving force for the development of the plot. The scene that best reflects the contrast between the piano and the plot comes from a scene in which the demented young man Bai Guanghao is stimulated to run on the tracks and is killed by a train. "Sad Love Letter" is the creation of the legendary Korean male singer Yoo Jae-ha (also known as Yoo Jae-ho), who died young, who once composed and sang "Because of Love", which is called the Korean national pop song
But "Sad Love Letters" is the first tape B-side of Yoo Jae-natsu's only album, and it is not popular. There is also a bug here, The album was only released in the spring of 1987, and the story of the film is set in the middle of the summer of 1986. However, because the song and the sense of the times that the movie wants to present are very suitable, no one cares whether it is "premature" for half a year. In the winter of 1987, Yanagi died at the age of 25 after a friend crashed into a taxi while drunk driving.
Of course, the soundtrack of the whole film is not just a cup of warm water, and the background music of a chase scene can be called a wake-up call. In the scene of chasing Zhao Bingshun, a man in red panties who suppressed masturbation, there was a pure drum rhythm at first, and when the three policemen chased them to the mouth of the alley, they laid out strings. The use of percussion is Iwashiro's specialty (recall "Chibi"), with proper prioritization and a staggered drum beat.
At the end of the film, there is a classic conflict scene at the mouth of the tunnel, when Agent Su sees the DNA test report sent by the United States, showing that the major suspect Park Hyun-kyu who is close at hand does not match the on-site sample comparison, not only he and his partner Agent Park are disappointed and even desperate, I believe that the audience is also sighing.
At this time, a piece of music that can be called the most beautiful music in the whole film hovered in the heavy rain. This piece of music, with a healing emotion, not only soothes the police's loss, but also a requiem, at the same time, a little to calm the audience's anger at this moment, which is the so-called "healing system" at that time - in the entanglement of Agent Su's desire to shoot Park Hyun-kyu a hundred times, we can even see through the picture that this music that seems to be telling a story is rising.
