"I will carry it with me until the final victory of the Chinese revolution." This sentence is a story about a pocket watch and a fountain pen, and the protagonist of the story is Wang Liang, a general in the early days of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army.

On July 16, this reporter went to Yongcheng Town, Qijiang District, Chongqing City, to visit Wang Liang's former residence, review the history of the party, remember the great achievements of the revolutionary ancestors, and remember their spirit and demeanor.

In November 1930, Chiang Kai-shek mobilized 100,000 troops and launched the first major "encirclement and suppression" against the central revolutionary base areas. In the first anti-"encirclement and suppression" campaign, Wang Liang led the Red Tenth Division to completely annihilate the headquarters of the Eighteenth Division and two brigades of the Kuomintang Army, captured more than 9,000 enemy personnel, captured Zhang Huizhen, the commander-in-chief of the enemy's front line, and won the great victory of the Red Army's first anti-"encirclement and suppression" campaign. In order to praise Wang Liang's outstanding military achievements, Mao Zedong and Zhu De decided to reward Wang Liang with the pocket watch and pen that had been captured by Zhang Huizhen. It was at this time that Wang Liang excitedly uttered that heroic remark.

Since then, Wang Liang has always treasured this pocket watch on his body, and took it to participate in the second and third anti-"encirclement and suppression"; he took it south and north, galloping on the battlefield, invincible, and repeatedly building miracles. Regrettably, the hero's long-cherished wish could not be fulfilled by him personally.

In March 1932, Wang Liang was promoted to commander of the Red Fourth Army. On June 13 of the same year, on the way back to the Base Area of Gannan under his command of the Red Fourth Army, he was violently attacked by the enemy while passing through Dahewei, Wuping County, Fujian Province. Before dying, Wang Liang handed over his pocket watch and pen to the political commissar Luo Ruiqing one by one, and instructed Luo Ruiqing to carry the revolution through to the end. At the time of his death, Wang Liang was only 27 years old.

Today, in the display case of Wang Liang's former residence, there are restored pieces of pocket watches and fountain pens. Wang Xianbo, a descendant of Wang Liang, told reporters that the originals of pocket watches and pens are now stored in the Military Museum of the Chinese Revolution.

The reporter learned that on October 1, 1959, the day of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the founding of New China, General Luo Ruiqing, chief of the general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, personally handed over Wang Liang's relics to the Party Central Committee, fulfilling Wang Liang's last wish with a pocket watch until the victory of the Chinese revolution. This pocket watch stored in the military museum has become a historical witness of Wang Liang's heroic dedication to the cause of the party and the people.

After Wang Liang's sacrifice, the officers and men of the Red Fourth Army were deeply saddened. In June 1932, during the recuperation of the Eastern Route Army army in Hedunwei, Zhoutian Town, Huichang County, Fujian Province, Mao Zedong presided over Wang Liang's memorial service and spoke highly of Wang Liang's life, praising "Wang Liang as a good cadre." Nie Rongzhen wrote in his memoirs: "Comrade Wang Liang is a very good comrade, a native of Sichuan, who participated in the Autumn Harvest Uprising in 1927, who has always fought bravely and treated people warmly and sincerely, and we all feel very sorry for his sacrifice. ”

Although Wang Liang died before the Long March of the Red Army, Wang Xianbo told reporters that Wang Liang's heroic deeds have also always inspired all the Commanders and Fighters of the Red Army during the Long March, "Luo Jian, son of Luo Ruiqing, said to me that his father has always devoted himself to the revolutionary cause with the memory of Wang Liang, and Wang Liang's deeds have always taught the soldiers of the Red Army to bear hardships and stand hard work and dare to face all kinds of difficulties."

"Wang Liang has three excellent qualities: one is to obey the party's command, the second is to have excellent military ability, and the third is to have firm ideals and convictions," said Yuan Qinhua, secretary of the Qijiang District Party Committee of Chongqing Municipality. On July 11, the exhibition of Wang Liang's former residence was officially opened to the public, which will play an important role in the inheritance of red culture and the education of revolutionary traditions.
