Peony parrots are very common birds in the pet market, lively and cute, easy to raise and breed, and are the favorite of the majority of bird lovers.
However, there are some regulations to be aware of, and many species of these parrots fall under the IUCN's 2012 Red List of Threatened Species ver 3.1 – Near Threatened (NT).
At present, the common peony parrots on the market mainly include two kinds of head and noodles, and the head belongs to those that cannot be bought and dealt with, such as the brown-headed peony parrot. (Scientific name: Agapornis fischeri)

Its main features are white circles and red mouth.
The noodle peony parrot can be raised, and the common one is the peach-faced peony parrot (scientific name: Agapornis roseicollis).
It is one of the three kinds of parrots that can be legally raised in China, the other two are the tiger parrot (scientific name: Melopsittacus undulatus) and the cockatoo (scientific name: Nymphicus hollandicus).
All in all, it is best not to keep parrots with white circles. In addition to the above three kinds of parrots, do not keep other types of parrots.
The brown-headed peony parrot, also known as the Fischer's couple parrot, belongs to the ornithischia, parrot family, and couple parrot genus. It, the scientific name "Agape" means love in Greek, and "Ornis" means bird. So the love bird in the song is these little guys.
They are native to Tanzania in southeastern Africa and inhabit bushes and acacia trees in the transition from plateau to plain. He is neighboring with elephants and giraffes.
These birds generally form a group of dozens, and their chirping can be heard from a long distance, and they mainly eat the seeds of plants, so they have a certain harm to crops.
They will forage on the ground unscrupulously and are basically not afraid of people, so many wild love birds are caught.
As can be seen from their names, the female and male have a good relationship and will even be together for life. The bird has a lifespan of about 10-15 years, is 13-17 cm long, weighs 40-60 g, and belongs to the smaller species of medium-sized parrots.
This parrot was first introduced to China in 1986, and after years of breeding and breeding, a large population has been formed.
After being listed on the IUCN's 2012 Red List of Threatened Species ver 3.1 – Near Threatened (NT) in 2012. Keeping such parrots is considered illegal.
The main reason is that the parrots raised in captivity are not different from wild individuals in appearance and genetics, so it is impossible to distinguish whether the individuals raised and traded are from captivity or captured in the wild, which is not conducive to the protection of populations and the fight against poaching.
This bird is not distributed in the wild in China, and occasionally there are sporadic escape individuals. All individuals are from farming and wild-caught in Africa.
However, the current plight of breeders is also worth paying attention to, these birds are also life after all, can not be a light and fluttering word of harmless treatment to send it off.
