Today I would like to introduce you to a particularly interesting fish "dead leaf fish" which is actually rare among ornamental fish players. As the name suggests, the fish is similar in length to dead leaves, and is a fish that you can't find hanging on a branch. Its camouflage ability is particularly superb, if you put sunken wood dead leaves in the fish tank, put in black water and raise two dead leaf fish, so that you will not find any fish in it.

Although it looks stupid, it is actually a fish that moves very quickly and has super fast predatory ability. As soon as a small fish is found within its predation range, it can quickly swallow the target within 0.3 seconds.
While hunting, it sneaks its prey in a low-key manner, seemingly floating towards it like a dead leaf floating in a stream of water. In fact, the fish is propelled by the tiny movement of transparent fins.
When it hits a prey, the entire mouth protrudes outwards, forming a large tube into which the prey is sucked in, usually the first. This happens quickly and is often hard to see. In this way, it can devour prey that is almost as big as it is.
Yi Mo saw online articles that said it was suitable for novice breeding, but I found in some literature that it is actually not suitable for novice breeding, because it has high requirements for the water quality environment, needs to imitate the native environment, is very sensitive to water quality deterioration, and it only eats live food, not feed. Of course, it can also be tamed with bait but it takes a little difficulty. How can a novice raise this fish well, anyway, I am not recommended for novices to raise.
I have to lament the diversity of biological evolution, it is so interesting! Not only does it mimic the color of dead leaves, but it goes a step further. Copied the shape of the dead leaf up to the tip of the leaf - thus having the characteristic 'beard'.
