[Global Times reporter Hao Shuangyan] Italian restaurant owner Ado Quimper, known as the "father of Tiramisu", recently passed away at the age of 93. The Side of Quimper's restaurant, the Veneto region of Italy, mourned that a star in the local food scene had fallen.
According to the British "Guardian" reported on October 31, in 1939, in the city of Treviso in Veneto, Quimper took over the restaurant "Le Beccherie", which is also regarded as the birthplace of the world-renowned Italian dessert "Tiramisu". Tiramisu, which can be roughly translated as "take me away" in Italian, is usually made from a coffee-soaked sponge cake with egg, sugar and mascarpone cheese in the middle, sprinkled with cocoa powder on top and added to rum or Marsala to add flavor.

Carlo, the son of Le Beccherie's current owner and Son of Quimper, said he worked in restaurants at a very young age, "My father was an extremely upright man, very family-oriented, and a serious professional. After 75 years of operation, the restaurant closed in 2014 due to business problems and reopened in recent years.
It is worth noting that although Quimper is known as the "father of Tiramisu", this dessert was actually developed by Quimper and his wife and the chef in the restaurant at the time, Linguanotto. According to the BBC, when Quimper was making vanilla ice cream in 1969, he stumbled upon mascarpone cheese mixed with egg mixture and sugar, and then he, along with his wife and Linguanotto, added a coffee-soaked sponge cake to make a tiramisu. This dessert first appeared on the restaurant's menu in 1972. In 1981, the dessert was introduced in Veneto magazine, which promotes local cuisine and fine wine, and tiramisu has gradually spread around the world and has been adapted by chefs from various countries to local tastes.
