"Cold War"

1905 Film Network News As the most critical year-end film festival in Europe, the 31st European Film Awards recently announced the final list of winners. "Cold War," directed by Pavlikovsky, came out on top. The new film won Pavlikovsky the best director award at this year's Cannes Film Festival and Poland's hope for the Oscar for best foreign language film this year.

The story of "Cold War" takes place in Poland in the 1950s, in Stalin-ruled Poland and free-spirited Paris, when a freedom-seeking musician and a passionate young female singer fall in love. The two men are not compatible, but they are destined to be entangled. Set in Poland, Berlin, Yugoslavia and Paris during the Cold War in the '50s, the film depicts love stories that were impossible in difficult times. The British-produced absurd comedy "The Death of Stalin" won the European Best Comedy Award. Adapted from the French picture novels of Fabian Nouri and Thierry Robin, the film, co-written by Iannucci and his old partners David Schneider and Ian Martin, tells the story of Joseph Stalin, who ruled the Soviet Union with an iron fist for more than 30 years, and the chaos in the Soviet Union after his death.

The Death of Stalin

Judging from this award, this year's European film masterpieces still focus on the Soviet Union, Stalin and even the Cold War.

Founded in 1988 by the European Cinema Society at the initiative of the Swedish film master Bergmann, the European Film Society is organized by the European Film Society based in Berlin and is known as the European Oscars. Although the European Film Awards are not as famous as the Cannes Film Festival, the Venice Film Festival and the Berlin Film Festival, their selection has professional depth and artistic authority. The award was established in 1988 at the initiative of the Swedish film master Bergman, with the purpose of promoting the european spirit of film art and awakening the confidence and support of global audiences for European art and humanistic films.
