The Korean film "The Battle of Mingliang" is based on the Myeongshinjong, that is, the War of Resistance Against The Japanese Empire and Aid Korea that occurred during the reign of the Wanli Emperor, which began in 1592 and ended in 1598, lasting 6 years.
The Japanese called the battle the "Battle of Wenlu" and fought for it; the Koreans called it the "Battle of The Ming Dynasty", which was beaten to death; and for the powerful Ming Dynasty, this battle was really not a big deal. During this war, the Ming Dynasty also sent 100,000 troops to encircle and suppress Yang Yinglong in Sichuan, who was a greater threat to the Wanli Emperor than Toyotomi Hideyoshi.

The cause of the war was the ambitions of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. After the unification of Japan, this person felt that he was not addicted and wanted to conquer the world. What to do? If you want to conquer the world, you must first conquer Asia; if you want to conquer Asia, you must first conquer China; but to conquer China, you must conquer Korea. Sound familiar?
On May 21, 1592, the 150,000 Japanese troops attacked Korea in Ninth Division for the sake of one man's ambition. On May 22, it took only two hours to attack Busan, and half a month later, it reached Seoul and Pyongyang, driving the King of Joseon to the Yalu River. The King of Joseon had no choice but to send emissaries to offer refuge to the Ming Dynasty.
At this time, North Korea was in tatters, but it did not perish. The reason why he did not die was because of the existence of one person, Li Shunchen.
Li Shunchen, Zi Ru Harmonious, Deshui ren. At that time, he was the envoy of the Jeolla Province Water Army.
On June 16, 1591, in the nineteenth year of the Wanli Calendar (1591), Li Shunchen emerged from the Battle of Yupu and led the "Turtle Ship" to victory in the first battle. Later, under his command, the North Korean army won successive victories in the waters of Chizhenpu, Surabaya, Tangpu, and Busan. On August 3, he won the "Great Victory in Idle Mountain". The Japanese attack at sea was contained.
But after all, there was only one Li Shunchen, and the land of North Korea was still all lost. The fall of the country was imminent, and Li Shunchen was also weak in returning to heaven.

In July of the twentieth year of the Wanli Calendar (1592), the Ming Dynasty sent its first army to Korea, a total of 3,000 people, and the general was Zu Chengxun. Thirty thousand and fifteen thousand, the arrogance of the Ming army can be seen, and the initial battle ended in failure.
In December of the 20th year of the Wanli Calendar (1592), Li Rusong led 50,000 Ming troops into the Dynasty. In just half a year, the Japanese army encountering the Ming army was completely defeated and retreated to the landing site a year ago, leaving only 40,000 people to defend.
With the assistance of the Ming Dynasty, the first phase of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and Aid to Korea ended, and the Japanese army was defeated.

Although the DPRK cannot fight a war, it must be admitted that they are still very good at starting a political struggle, and they have just finished the first war.
After repelling the Japanese army, Li Shunchen was promoted to the commander of the water army, and he had great power and was very beautiful. Li Shunchen was beautiful, and Yuan Jun, who was also a general of the water army, was not happy. He found a few like-minded people and engaged Li Shunchen--at the beginning of "The Battle of Mingliang", Li Shunchen was deposed by the imperial court on suspicion of collaborating with the enemy and escorted to the capital, and was severely tortured. Li Shunchen was finally dismissed from his post, saved his life, and was assigned to the military to atone for his sins. Yuan Jun got his wish and took over Li Shunchen's position.
It's just a pity that this official is not good. In September of the twenty-fourth year of the Wanli Calendar (1596), Toyotomi Hideyoshi gathered another 120,000 troops, divided into eight armies, and attacked Korea by land and water.
The Ming Dynasty sent Ma Gui to lead 8,000 people to defend Wang Jing against 120,000 Japanese troops, and repeatedly won victories, curbing the land attacks of the Japanese army.
And land and water? In June of the twenty-fifth year of the Wanli Calendar (1597), Yuan Jun took office. In July, the Japanese attacked, and Yuan Jun was killed. It was not a pity that Yuan Jun died, but the Korean Navy was completely destroyed. Li Shunchen was therefore reactivated to clean up the mess. In the "Battle of Mingliang", it is said that at that time, the Korean army only had twelve warships left, and the army was scattered.

Li Shunchen made a comeback and urgently needed a big victory to stabilize the hearts of the army. So he formulated a plan to ambush the Japanese army in the mingliang sea. At that time, the Japanese Navy was led by Takatoro Fujido, with a total of 130 warships. The film says that there were pirates in the Japanese Navy who participated in the war, which is a historical fact. On Li Shunchen's side, only Yuan Jun gave him the remaining 12 warships.
On October 26, Li Shunchen sent ships to lure the Japanese army, and after the Japanese army discovered the North Korean army, they immediately led 30 ships to pursue at full speed, and the North Korean army quickly withdrew into the Mingliang Strait.
The terrain of the Mingliang Strait is narrow, the hydrological situation is extremely complex, the tide rises and falls very frequently, and the three-hour change is extremely large. At low tide, if the ship does not exit in time, it will run aground in an instant.
The Japanese Navy was unaware of the danger, and After Falling into the Mingliang Strait, Fujido Takaho was suddenly shelled by the North Koreans. At this time, it was the low tide, and Fujido Takaho realized that it was not good and commanded the warship to retreat.
The exit of the Mingliang Strait was narrow, and the Japanese warships ran aground. Li Shunchen arranged a large number of wooden stakes and iron chains under the water in advance to stop the Japanese army. Relying on the advantages of time and place and firearms, Li Shunchen sank more than 30 Japanese warships and beheaded the Japanese general LaiDaotong.
The next day, the main Japanese army sailed into the mingliang sea area and took full control of the sea surface of Jeolla Province. Li Shunchen had already left with the warship.
Li Shunchen won a great victory in the Battle of Mingliang, inspiring the morale of the army. For North Korea, it is of great significance, after all, the land war depends on the Ming army.

In August of the 26th year of the Wanli Calendar, Toyotomi Hideyoshi fell ill and died in Japan, and his ambitions disappeared with the wind. On November 5, the Japanese army will return home with countless loot. But the arrival of one person changed all this, and he was Chen Xuan.
After the total annihilation of the Korean water army, in June of the twenty-sixth year of the Wanli Calendar (1598), Chen Xuan led 5,000 Guangdong water troops to Korea, along with Deng Zilong.
On the night of November 18, Chen Xuan set up an ambush in lulianghai. Deng Zilong was arranged to ambush 3,000 people on the north side of the Luliang Sea; Li Shunchen led 5,000 people to ambush Guanyinpu on the south side of the Luliang Sea, while he himself led the remaining main force to hide in the nearby sea.
At noon on the nineteenth, the one-day Battle of Lulianghai ended, and the elite Fifth Army of the Japanese Army was completely destroyed, which was called "The Great Victory of Lulianghai" in history. At this point, the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and Aid korea ended with the victory of the Ming Army and the complete defeat of the Japanese army. And Li Shunchen also sacrificed his life for the country in this battle.
The South Korean film The Battle of Mingliang only captures the story of Lee Shun-chan, and many Chinese audiences do not understand the role played by the Ming army in this war.
