Drinks International recently launched the 2021 World's Most Popular Whisky Brands Report, which was co-authored by enthusiasts, journalists, bartenders and whisky experts from 25 countries around the world.

The ranking combines factors such as brand quality, price/performance and sales volume, and in order to ensure diversity, there can be no more than 5 whiskies of the same type.

In the end, 50 bottles of whisky from nine different countries made up the complete list, with Penn Suntory Group's Yamazaki at the top of the list, Irish whisky robin runner-up and Legavelin third.

Notably, there are nine active wineries in Islay, eight of which are on the list, which is enough to show how much the island has influenced the whisky world.

Overall, Scotch whisky occupies half of the list, while whiskies in the United States and around the world are evenly divided, so let's take a look at what brands are on the list:

01 Yamazaki Yamazaki
