Loose and wide-ranging machines scatter gold

author:Near lotus fasting

The second article in the "Yuexin Collection" is "Record the Book of Han Shu Guang Chuan Yi", the content is actually "Loose Spread gold", because the Tang Dynasty poet Wang Wei in the "Wei County Taishou Hebei Interview and Disposal of shangdang Miao Gongde Political Monument" in the inscription "Su Gong Peiyin, the first return to the hometown to enjoy the joy; sparse Fu Scattered Gold, not with the descendants of the plan", so also as "Loose Fu Scattered Gold". How did Shuguang become a "Shufu" again? This is actually an ellipsis of "Shu Tai Fu", because Shu Guang was an official during the Western Han Dynasty Emperor Xuan Emperor, that is, the prince's teacher. When Shu Guang was in the official fortunes and prosperity, his mind was cold and clear, he had insight into the cunning of the officialdom, the fierce danger of the eunuch sea, did not love the power position, and retreated bravely, and after returning to his hometown, he scattered gold to the villagers, composing a good story that has flowed through the ages.

The excerpt of this text, which starts directly from "the sparse and the return to the hometown", lacks some necessary explanations, so a paragraph is added after the text. Only by understanding this passage first can you understand the background of the story. Shu Guang (疏廣), also spelled Zhongweng (字仲翁), was appointed Crown Prince Taifu during the reign of Emperor Xuan of Han, while his nephew Shufu was appointed Crown Prince Shaofu (太子少傅), both of whom were the prince's teachers. Shu Guang said to Shu Guang: "I have heard that 'contentment is not humiliating, knowing that it is not dead, retiring from merit, and the way of heaven is also.'" What does it mean, that is, "I have heard that knowing that satisfaction will not bring humiliation, knowing that it is appropriate to stop will not be endangered, and that it will be in line with the Heavenly Dao." So he asked the emperor to tell the old man to return to his hometown, and the emperor allowed it. Before leaving, the emperor gave Shuguang twenty catties of gold, and the prince gave Shuguang another fifty catties of gold.

Now you see, right? Shuguang did not return to his hometown empty-handed, but pulled back seventy pounds of gold. This is connected with the selection of articles:

Guang both returned to the countryside, and the Riling family shared wine and food, and invited the old guests of the clan to entertain them. How many people still have in their family?? Fun to sell together. After living in his old age, his descendants secretly called his Kundi old man a widely loved believer and persuaded Junyi to buy a farmhouse. Guang Yue: "I don't think of my children and grandchildren!" Gu has his own old field, so that his children and grandchildren are diligent in it, enough to share food and clothing. This time the gain is thought to be more than enough, but teach the children and grandchildren to be lazy! 'The wise and the rich will be at the expense of their will; Foolishness and wealth are in the interest of excess. 'And the rich, the multitudes are also resentful. I have died to educate my children, and I do not want to take advantage of them and complain. And this gold one, the Holy Lord so favors the elderly also. Therefore, I will share my gifts with the township party clan to do my best for the rest of my life!"

Although this passage on the "Yuexin Collection" is recorded from the Book of Han, it is not copied in its entirety, but only a passage from a sparse descendant in the middle to the middle of the middle is left with only one sentence: "Persuade Junyi to buy a farmhouse.". But things are still very clear, since Shuguang returned to his hometown, he has let his family set up a banquet every day, feasting on the clan and relatives and friends. He kept spending money on hospitality, and often asked his family how much gold he had left with him. "Fun to sell together", the "fun" here is a common word, the same as "promotion", which means urging the family to exchange the remaining gold for cash to buy wine and vegetables. It took more than a year in this way without restraint, and Shuguang's descendants did not dare to say or ask, so they had to find a brother of the same generation who could talk to Shuguang on weekdays, and let the old man persuade Shuguang to buy more land and houses instead of spending money on guests. The old man talked to Shuguang about buying a field and a house. Shu Guang replied, "Am I old enough to not consider the future of my children and grandchildren?" It is just the original field house in the family, as long as the children and grandchildren are willing to work hard, it is enough for food and clothing. Buying more land and houses now will only make future generations lazy. If the talented are rich, they will weaken their will; if the foolish person is rich, he will increase his faults. And ill-gotten gains often incur resentment among the multitudes. Since I have no moral education for my descendants, I cannot increase their faults and invite resentment. Besides, money was given to me by the emperor for my retirement, so I would be happy to enjoy this gift with the fathers and elders of the villagers, so as to spend the rest of my life, isn't it also very good? ”

The words and deeds of Shuguang had a profound impact on the education of their children in later generations, and Lin Zexu of the Qing Dynasty's educational ideology of "thin money and heavy moral ability" for his children should be related to Shuguang. Lin Zexu has a famous xunzilian, "If the descendants are like me, what do you do with the money?" If you are wise and rich, you will lose your will; if your descendants are not as good as me, what will you do with the money? Foolishness and wealth increase their excesses. "It is obvious that it was used from the "Loose Biography". And the Guangxu Emperor's father, Aixin Jueluo Yizhen, the Prince of Alcohol at the end of the Qing Dynasty, wrote a famous long couplet based on this: Wealth is also great, production is also great, and later children and grandchildren are also great disasters. The children and grandchildren have more money and are bolder, and they are not afraid of all the big things in heaven, and they will not give up without losing their wealth; their wealth is also small, their production is also small, and later their children and grandchildren are also small. The children and grandchildren have less money and less courage, some small karma knows how to protect themselves, and frugality makes thrifty use also pass.

This is exactly:

Loose knowledge of the machine to scatter gold,

Finally talk and laugh will know.

Life is precious in knowing the current affairs,

Don't indulge when you're proud.
